Eat that hot and sour soup

Hi friends 😀 Happy Saturday! How’s your morning going?

The Pilot and Bell are still fast asleep and I’m here chillin for a sec until I have to get ready for work (at the very last possible minute). Tonight should be a lot of fun since it’s the madre’s birthday, so we’re celebrating when I get off work.

Last night, we went out to celebrate Meg’s birthday (since she was in Cali) at Bamboo Club.

bamboo

A sign of the times: I haven’t been to Bamboo Club in a few years- last time I went, if you didn’t have reservations, you had to wait a loonnnnnnnng time for a table. Last night, it was almost empty! The food is really good, but the service is pretty terrible.

The table shared some crab wontons:

I wasn’t too hungry, so I ordered a cup of vegetarian hot and sour soup and added a little brown rice to it:

and stole a few of the Pilot’s curry shrimp 😉

The best part by far was when they brought out Meg’s bday treat:

b3erries

Berries flambéed tableside, then poured on top of ice cream. I had a bite and it was absolutely foodgasmic 🙂

A lovely evening with the fam 😀

Alright friends, I’m off to do the work thang one more day before I’m off for the next few days (!!!).

Have a wonderful Saturday and I’ll see ya this afternoon with a family post on my birth team 🙂

xoxo

Something to talk about: Summer Shape Up warriors: how do you feel after this week?? Any requests for next week’s workouts?

Something to think:

Happy happy birthday to my madre (love you friend) and my good friend Jenna <3

That sounds like such a great restaurant. I love Asian food…hot and sour soup is one of my favorites! I love how spicy it is! <3

I was surprised how sore I was after this week, especially from those ball hamstring curls! It’s amazing what changing things up will do. I really like the circuit approach, it makes things go fast and keeps me working hard the whole time. I also love that it uses minimal equipment. I’m looking forward to seeing what else you have in store!

Bleh. I hate paying a lot for a meal and getting terrible service! I used to wait tables, so I’m pretty empathetic towards servers…but I’m also that much more irritated when it’s obvious someone is just being lazy or a jerk!

  13. Kristin on June 11, 2011 at 11:56 am

I spot your gorgeous new purse in the background of the shot of you and the Pilot and I have a question…I’ve been ogling that exact purse online for awhile now and the only thing holding me back is that I’m not sure the shorter handle is long enough to wear on your shoulder…what do you think?

    Looks like a fun night!

How about some fun quad moves…I feel like my hammies are way stronger than my quads!

Too bad about the service — for me, even if the food is great, bad service can ruin the whole night.

You and the Pilot are so cute!

Love hot and sour soup! And crab wontons… was a veg for 2 years and I would always sneak one or two from my husband’s plate at my fave place. Feel GREAT from week 1… HATE burpees even more now than I did before

    Have a great day!

  24. Rachel @ Healthy Teacher on June 11, 2011 at 2:57 pm

The only thing I would love to see for next week is something that would target my tush and upper legs. I have cellulite there, and I don’t weigh much. It’s just there from when I had gained weight, and now I can’t get it off, I’m assuming, without gaining muscle there instead. What are your thoughts on a workout that targets that area?

  25. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on June 11, 2011 at 3:34 pm

I did the summer shape up workout on Tuesday this week and I swear I’m still sore! I can’t wait for next week’s torture session… I mean, workout. 😉

Happy birthday to your mom and Meg!

“Berries flambéed tableside, then poured on top of ice cream.” = YUM!!! I love bananas foster and have had those flambeed tableside (much more fun than making them at home where the wow factor isnt quite as good but still fun)..pretty much anything flambeed is just…good. Right? 🙂

Glad you guys had a fun night out despite the meh service.

    Have a great weekend!

  27. Amelia on June 11, 2011 at 4:32 pm

Gina, you are beautiful (as always) but I have to say that in this post, the Pilot looks like he is ‘glowing’. Funny, I know, but he looks SO happy in the pic with his arm around you. I think there should be a thought bubble next to his head that says, “Yes, this is the love of my life and she is having my baby”. 🙂

Looks like a fun night, despite the bad service.

I agree with some of the comments above – I have really enjoyed the circuit routines! It has also been nice that the moves do not require a lot of gym equipment. I also enjoy the “total body” approach.

As far as requests… triceps (loved the dips) and more shoulder work 🙂 Thank you for being so generous and sharing your fitness tips!

One of my pet peeves has always been kids wearing ball caps at the dinner table. When has it become acceptable/good manners to do that at a nice restaurant?

  37. Annie@stronghealthyfit on June 12, 2011 at 9:37 am

I’m loving the summer shape-up. It’s just good to have a workout plan! I was so sore from the first day I did Workout 1, but I did it again yesterday!

  38. Tichina on June 12, 2011 at 1:16 pm

I am currently on the lookout for a hot and sour vegetarian soup recipe! This soup looks so yummy 🙂
