Ok, so I didn’t get anything crazy done with my hair cut. I’m a wuss and I’ve had my hair like this for about 9 years 😉 The stylist thinned it out and cut off enough to cover a small animal and it feels healthy and fresh.

Check out the shirt I wore today:

Bahahaha.

So today has been pretty lovely 😀

I started the morning with an incredible 60-minute YogaDownload podcast (Power Yoga #1) then meandered down to the kitchen to grab some fruit:

fruit

I got my hair cut, grabbed some new sneaks, went to work for a while, then came home to snack on an egg puff between appointments.

egg

(2 egg whites, nutritional yeast and red pepper flakes)

I went back to work for a training appt, then took my new sneaks out on a 4.5 mile test run. They felt AMAZING- Asics never do me wrong 😀

While I was running, I listened to the “We Are the World 25 for Haiti” song twice. When I bought it, I honestly just wanted to donate to the cause and wasn’t really expecting to love the song… well, I love it. I also love that the Grobanater (aka Josh Groban) is in it. Yes, I’m 90 years old…. and proud 😀

When I came back to the casa, I stretched out, grabbed a giant glass of coconut water:

coco water

and an equally giant salad beast:

beast

Greens, cucumber, bell pepper, grape tomatoes, shallot, goat cheese and Organicville balsamic. Foodgasmic 😀

Now it’s time to get my booty back to work, then coming home to make dinner for the pilot and I.

Thank you so much for all of your pre-race bfast ideas!!! The girls and I are doing 6 miles on Sunday, so I’m going to experiment with something new.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

xoxo,

Gina

Something to think: “One more”. One more minute, rep, lap around the track, whatever you’re doing. When you think you have just one left, do one more. You’ll be surprised how you can push yourself 🙂

I agree…Asics are the best. I just bought myself a new pair about a month ago. They look a lot like yours except mine are purple. 🙂

  2. christina on February 23, 2010 at 5:50 pm

Have the EXACT pair of Asics. LOVE THEM. I foolishly experimented with other brands but of course came back to Asics. I’ll never, ever go back!!!

  3. Allison @ Food For Healing on February 23, 2010 at 5:51 pm

Very nice hair! sometimes thats all you need is just to clean up the mane! haha I could definitely go for a little trim. maybe once I have a little more money coming in!
Maybe my next pair of shoes i buy i will try some Asics, ive heard good things. I run with Brooks right now and they are okay.

You put A LOT of nutritional yeast on stuff.

What’s the deal with that stuff anyways? i can’t see to find any anywhere, what does it taste like, how many calories does it have? whats it all good on?

It’s too funny I just posted about getting new asics on my blog as well. We had the same old pair and now we have the same new ones. Twins. 🙂

I run in the same shoes (half the time…since I do 2-a-days, I wear one pair for each workout)!

  6. Jessica @ Dairy Free Betty on February 23, 2010 at 5:55 pm

Those are the same shoes I always get. I have steered away from them, but always come back!!! 🙂

    Lovely haircut!! 🙂

  9. Julie @ Pickley Pear on February 23, 2010 at 6:11 pm

I should really check out YogaDownload, I’ve heard great things. I’m a Saucony fan! They discontinued my favs, but replaced it, thankfully, with a similar shoe. Looking forward to your pre-run bfast.

Asics are the very very very oh so very best!! I just broke out a new pair too–got them for 1/2 their list price!

I have to get my hair thinned out too…I’ve got a mane. Funny because my daddy is bald! I gotta download that song. Thanks for the reminder

  13. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin on February 23, 2010 at 6:41 pm

I love getting new running shoes! It’s like Christmas!! 🙂

I’m in need of a haircut, too, but I can’t decide what to do with it yet! Either way, I love the way my hair smells after leaving the salon! Ahhh…

  14. Karyn on February 23, 2010 at 6:42 pm

yay new shoes. yay haircut! i haven’t gotten mine done in forever and i know once i do it’s going to feel amazing. yours looks really nice 🙂

and, like usual, i love your tip of the day. i totally do this. just one more makes everything so manageable even if you have a ton of “one mores” to do haha

  15. Fit Lizzio on February 23, 2010 at 6:42 pm

p.s. i’m totally jealous of your hair…one day mine will be that long too 😉

  18. Jenn @ Livewellfit on February 23, 2010 at 6:57 pm

I will be trying nutritional yeast tomorrow after my run to Whole Foods! 🙂 Can’t wait!

I’m getting my hair done new tomorrow myself. Time to have some fresh highlights as I get closer to our wedding! Oh my ….

  19. Erica on February 23, 2010 at 7:01 pm

How often do you retire your running shoes? Is there a certain mileage or length of time you go by?

    • Fitnessista on February 23, 2010 at 7:06 pm

usually its every 6 months, but i can start to feel it in my feet and joints that i need new ones

  20. BethT @ Pretty By The Bay on February 23, 2010 at 7:08 pm

No! I HATE the new We Are The World! Nooooooo! The rapping kills me, as does that stupid twerp Justin Bieber. And I know Wyclef is Haitian, but damn, he makes some weird noises in his solo.

    • Fitnessista on February 23, 2010 at 7:35 pm

hahaha i totally agree about the weird noises

  21. Jessica @ Fit and Clean on February 23, 2010 at 7:12 pm

I miss my Asics :(. I went to a running store a few months ago (I’m actually due for a new pair soon) and bought Saucony’s. (sp?) At any rate, I haven’t been real impressed, and I initially thought that they felt better then the Asics when I went through like 20 shoe recommendations (it was one of THOSE stores, LOL). They’re not terrible, but I had some calluses that I never had before…along with blisters and what looked like holes in my feet! UGH!!! Love the salad beast.:)

  22. Mara @ What's For Dinner? on February 23, 2010 at 7:14 pm

Sometimes there’s nothing better than getting the hairs trimmed 🙂 you look fab as always!

  23. melissa on February 23, 2010 at 7:19 pm

    Hi Gina,
I’m sure you’ve been asked this before…what goat cheese do you like? Also, I live in tucson and teach fitness classes all over town so when you get back into town let me know and you can come take classes at La Paloma Resort and Sierra Fitness:)

  24. Michelle on February 23, 2010 at 7:33 pm

Hi Gina I’m not sure if you have answered this before but what type of sneakers would you recommend for classes like Zumba and step? Also have you downloaded the Plane to PR zumba song yet? I love it!

  25. Paige @ Running Around Normal on February 23, 2010 at 7:39 pm

Bahaha @ the picture of the lion. Your hair looks faaabulous, chica! I’m finally getting my mane tamed on Saturday. And it sure needs it!

  26. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is on February 23, 2010 at 7:43 pm

    I’m an old woman too . . . I love old people music. 🙂

  27. Nicole @ Making Good Choices on February 23, 2010 at 7:45 pm

Love the T-shirt! I love thinking just “one more” helps me get through runs!

  28. Gina on February 23, 2010 at 7:46 pm

Ah running shoes…seems like every pair I try give me this blister/callus on the bottom of my pinky toe:( I can only make it about 3 miles before it starts to hurt. I’m not sure if its the socks I’m wearing, the shoes or my form…maybe I need to go to a fancy running store and have them recommend something!

By the way, I came across some goat cheese yogurt in the store about a month ago and I’m hooked…the brand is Liberte (made in Canada). It’s so yummy!

  29. Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg on February 23, 2010 at 8:00 pm

Hey, you and I used to be shoe twins!! I need to toss my pair and get new ones too, but I love them so! Plus I ran my first half marathon in them, so they hold a soft spot in my heart 🙂

Purty new shoes! Salad beast looks amazing! Still need to get that song from itunes. Hope you’re day is fabulous!

  32. Jen on February 23, 2010 at 8:55 pm

I did that today! I was doing speedwork on the treadmill and had 6 1200’s planned. Well, when I got to 6 I told myself just do one more – I ended up completing 8 1200’s! Great tip.

  33. Danielle (Coffee Run) on February 23, 2010 at 9:18 pm

I always love getting new running shoes. I’ve never owned asics but I’ve heard good things!

haha and I love the shirt 🙂

  34. Sonia on February 23, 2010 at 9:19 pm

I like that tip at the end of your post! When I run, to push myself I “dedicate” every 1/4th mile to someone important. I then feel like I’m running that distance for my mom, my boyfriend, etc…

    • Fitnessista on February 23, 2010 at 9:35 pm

wow, that’s such a cool (and beautiful!) idea 🙂

  35. Kate on February 23, 2010 at 9:28 pm

Those are MY shoes! Hahah. I have the same pair and I love them. I’m sure you will too – they get me through eight milers six days a week without fail!

I bought the song for Hati too. It’s become a new regular on my workout cardio playlist. I expected it to be too slow or uninteresting to workout to, but I actually love it. So interesting how they “combined” all the different artists to unite for one song. It’s awesome.

  36. Lauren @ BIOCHEMISTA on February 23, 2010 at 9:58 pm

    Hey Gina!

I have literally the best workout mix (not to brag, haha). It’s a remix of a million songs and is somewhere around an hr long. It’s my favorite music to run to and because there’s so many songs I never get sick of it! If you want me to burn you a copy I’d be happy to, just e-mail me/drop a line on my blog.

    Have a great week!

    xoxox, Lauren

  37. Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) on February 23, 2010 at 10:10 pm

Seriously, nothing better than a good hair trimming. I go so long between haircuts when I keep it long. This last time she cut about 6 inches off and thinned it out…it feels so good. Ironically, it is still long! Guess I let it go a little too long!

    • Fitnessista on February 23, 2010 at 10:31 pm

hahah i do the same thing! mine hadn’t been cut since october 🙂

  38. Britt - Runnerbelle on February 23, 2010 at 10:11 pm

Yay new sneaks!! Love when I get a new pair of running shoes. 🙂

I need to get my butt to the health food store and find this nutritional yeast….

  39. Katharine on February 23, 2010 at 10:20 pm

That egg puff looks intriguing! I might have to try that for breakfast in the morning – they’ve been getting pretty boring lately.

  40. Emilyeatsclean on February 23, 2010 at 10:28 pm

Did it take you some to aquire a taste for coconut water??? I just can’t handle the taste!

    • Fitnessista on February 23, 2010 at 10:31 pm

it only took me about two tries before i was hooked. i crave it after a run now! have you tried the flavored ones? the mango zico brand is pretty delicious 🙂

  41. Kathleen on February 23, 2010 at 10:41 pm

Love the idea of one more…so true!

I ALSO love Josh Groban…he is the music I fall asleep to on hard days when I need something calming and beautiful to soothe my soul.

  42. Maria on February 23, 2010 at 10:58 pm

Hair looks tame!!! Haha. I need a trim so so bad. After not cutting it for 27 years, I went short. I have been growing it out ever since….I am know at that point where every little bit counts…kinda makes me a wuss to even trim it even a little bit…!!

  43. Danielle on February 23, 2010 at 11:12 pm

    Hey G$!

I was checking out your pantry essentials and went to the Earth Shift Website. Where can I get a promo code to look at their prices?

  44. Salah@myhealthiestlifestyle on February 23, 2010 at 11:30 pm

I know that works so well! I always end up doing more than I think I can when I have that mind set of “just one more!”….and I feel so much more accomplished afterwards because I worked that much harder!

  45. Brittany on February 24, 2010 at 1:05 am

That is so funny because I just got new shoes this weekend! My former pair (Asics) rubbed my feet raw, even when I tried doubling socks. The weird thing is they have never done that before when I worked out on the elliptical. But when I was power-walking on the treadmill I ended up with blister city.

Love the haircut, I am a fan of the side bang myself!

Oh, and how do you drink coconut water? I tried some once and it made me gag. I know it is great for the body, but try explaining that to my taste buds!

  46. Jaclyn on February 24, 2010 at 2:03 am

Ah I need to get my haircut! I love/miss that ‘fresh and healthy hair’ feeling 😀

Gina, I love the mountain of nooch on your egg puffs hahah. And new sneaks=always a good thing! 😉

  47. Kirsty on February 24, 2010 at 3:53 am

I love getting a haircut, although it takes me ages to trust a new hairdresser. My current one is fabulous, but I went to him for about 3 cuts before I let him do anything “crazy” with my hair!!

Your salad beasts always look so great, whenever I make a salad it looks really boring. Any tips on how to jazz them up??

    Ciorsdah xx
