Face Burger + Goji promo

Helloooooo 😀 Hope you’re having a great morning! Loved all of your comments to Mara’s pizza guest post… just wished I lived a little closer to her so I could take the leftovers off her hands 😉

Last night, after errands/work/packing all day, we met up with some friends at Bleu Pub for dinner.

The Pilot and I split a blurry Greek salad:

salad

and for my entree, I chose the vegan black bean burger with no bun (my fave!) + the best restaurant sweet potato fries

burger

The Pilot had the “Dirty Bird” which is a beef burger, topped with bacon and a over easy egg.

It was as big as his face 😀

That’s a ferocious burger face right there 🙂

We came back to the casa, chilled with the puppers and called it a night <3

This morning, I’m about to do the workout thang and then will most likely make some b-fast cookie dough cereal.

cereal

I’m pretty stoked because SunFoods, the makers of quite a few of my favorite superfoods that you see on the bloggy, generously offered to do a fun goji berry promo for those of you who have been wanting to try them, or those who need to replenish their stash.

Sunfoods supplies incredible goji berries. By far the plumpest and most delicious ones I’ve tried, and I’ve been around the goji berry block a few times 😉

From their website:

Sunfood’s Organic Goji Berries grow in protected Chinese valleys in million-year-old soil in wild and cultivated areas. The plants grow like bushes with vines that reach over 15 feet. The berries are never touched by hand as they will oxidize and turn black if touched while fresh. They are shaken onto mats, then dried in the shade.
Our Organic Goji Berries are a deep-red, dried fruit about the same size as a raisin. The Goji berry tastes somewhat like a cross between a cranberry and a cherry.
Out of the 8,000 food-herbs in the systems of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the thousands of years of history that back it, Goji Berries are considered the number one food-herb. They have the number one ranking.

Goji berries are an antioxidant POWERHOUSE – the little guys also contain vitamin A and are used to treat diabetes, high blood pressure and age-related eye problems

They taste great, too 😀

goji

The promo is $15 for 8 oz and you get a free Raw Food Community tote bag. There are only 50 available and they’ll go fast. *Click here* to get your goji on 😉

Off to SWEAT! What’s your workout of choice today??

See ya later this afternoon <3

xoxo

My workout choice was going to be a run, but the weather is currently wet, drizzly, and 45 degrees. I may have to hit the community center for a swim instead. I’m going to wait it out til noon to see how it looks outside.

I’ll be going for my shortest run of the week (3 miles) followed by Boing! or if that doesn’t pan out, Core Fusion. I haven’t done Boing yet so I’m pretty pumped and I hope my BF doesn’t bail.

that’s a massive burger! it’s funny…i have a picture of my hubby doing that exact same thing with a burger the size of his head. boys will be boys, right? 🙂

  19. Katie on September 16, 2010 at 10:49 am

I’m taking a day off from formal exercise as I have to babysit three adorable munchkins tonight. Our workout will be running and dancing around the house and chasing their dog around! 🙂

  21. Kat (My Fruity Life) on September 16, 2010 at 10:57 am

Hahahaha that picture of Pilot stuffing his face CRACKED me up!

Quick question for you…I want to jump on this yoga love, and was hoping you could give me a suggestion on a good yoga dvd I can find at my local Target. I did a few months of Pilates (unsure if its the same at all) so do you have a certain dvd you like thats good for beginners but also challenging?

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2010 at 11:16 am

the rodney yee ones are good for beginners and kind of slow paced. i really love mandy ingber’s yogalosophy dvd but you have to order it online

  22. Jessica@tastyandtrim on September 16, 2010 at 10:59 am

Those sweet potato fries look delish! My workout of choice was the elliptical. I ran yesterday and my back is pretty sore today. A while back, a chiropractor told me that doing the elliptical can help to stretch out your back and relieve some of the pain. Its been working for me 🙂

  23. Joslyn (missfitbliss) on September 16, 2010 at 11:04 am

My workout of choice is hot yoga but I’m dabbling back in running again.

  24. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on September 16, 2010 at 11:07 am

  25. Cailin @ Stir Crazy on September 16, 2010 at 11:18 am

Does 3 flights of stairs with groceries count as a workout?! If so, then done!;) Hoping to fit in some strength training if I don’t fall asleep first… baby woke me up at 5:15am and I’ve been a busy little bee since then!

  26. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on September 16, 2010 at 11:20 am

Wow, that burger is massive. And it looks pretty good. As do those sweet potato fries.

  27. RhodeyGirl on September 16, 2010 at 11:21 am

I don’t know if you’re friends with PB on Facebook, but we went out for lunch the other day and he had a corned beef sandwich at this deli that had 1 LB of meat. Disgusting! Anyway, in order to get the sandwich in his mouth he had to make the same face as the pilot… and enjoyed every minute of it (yes, he finished the entire thing and proceeded to still weigh the exact same on the scale the next day). Insanity!

I hope your pilot and my phillyboy get to meet soon! They would have fun eating burgers together hahahahahahah

  28. Chelsea on September 16, 2010 at 11:23 am

I definitely laughed out loud at the picture of the Pilot and his burger. Those sweet potato fries look amazing too!

  29. Anne on September 16, 2010 at 11:32 am

My workout of choice today was Insanity…quick question. I just started and I noticed on my heart rate monitor that I don’t burn as many calories during the workout as I would if I had, say run 5-6 miles. Was that the case for you? Is it just that your body continues to burn more calories after because of the HIIT level?

    • maria on September 16, 2010 at 4:17 pm

When I did Insanity, my heart rate was always relatively low! way lower than when i was just jogging on the treadmill. I thought that was super weird :/

  30. Gloria on September 16, 2010 at 11:36 am

Mmm black bean burger? sweet potato fries? goji? Everything sounds yumalicious! I’m going to work my booty out dancing tonight 🙂

  31. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on September 16, 2010 at 11:36 am

Hehe the Pilot looks like he was really enjoying that burger!

My workout choice today was the elliptical (this workout here: http://bit.ly/aokNkt) and a session with my trainer. We were doing a bunch of stability exercises which were a lot harder than I thought they’d be. My newest “trick” is balancing on the stability ball on my knees, something I couldn’t do last week but I’m getting to be quite a champ! I hope you have an awesome workout and a great day! 🙂

  32. Tina on September 16, 2010 at 12:13 pm

I have to workout from home so I’m breaking out the resistance bands for a circuit workout. Not the best, but works for today. 🙂

  33. MoniMeals on September 16, 2010 at 12:22 pm

Off day, maybe a walk or light bike ride. Lots of work with clients. 🙂

  34. Caitlin (EatFeats) on September 16, 2010 at 12:39 pm

Black bean burgers are so good! I usually order one when I go to Chili’s and it is the tastiest thing (not) on the menu!

Yesterday I swam, tennis-ed, and ran…so probably a walk and a run today. Something lighter!

  35. Ashley Robert on September 16, 2010 at 12:42 pm

I tried ur cookie dough cereal today… OMG amazing!!!

  36. Stef on September 16, 2010 at 12:53 pm

    Hey,
actually my workout today has been Zumba. It’s not popular here at all but I managed to get the DVDs and have started learning the steps, so did the basic step learning workout once before and today for the second time.
It’s alot of fun and I’m kinda glad I don’t do it at the gym because I’m sure i look like a huge goofball trying to move my hips! But it’s fun and that’s what counts!

  37. Gina on September 16, 2010 at 12:54 pm

I live for sweet potato fries…yum!!!

I just signed up for a year unlimited membership at an awesome hot vinyasa yoga studio 3 blocks from my apartment (super excited!) I plan on going to a level 2-3 sweaty 90 minute class tonight!!! I like to go to a higher level class once a week to work hard and remind myself of what I am working toward (arm balances/inversions).

Thanks for the awesome goji promo! I have not bought any of these yet (mostly due to the steep price at whole foods), so I am excited to try them! Do you use them mainly as a garnish to your meals or have you ever used them in a smoothie or other recipes?

  38. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on September 16, 2010 at 1:05 pm

My workout of choice today is going for 2 quickie miles of cardio and lifting for 15 mins and doing 10 mins of yoga stretching, get it all in, the best of all worlds, in less than 45 minutes. That’s my speed 🙂

I love the picture of the Pilot savoring his burger. Everyone should enjoy their food, and he looks to be a happy camper in that pic.

Have a great Thursday and it’s great how you’re always hooking your readers up w/ the Open Sky deals!

    🙂

  39. Sassy Molassy on September 16, 2010 at 1:06 pm

Whew, that is a serious burger that the pilot got! 😉 My workout of choice today: already did 20 min of yoga before work. Then doing an interval workout with my running group tonight. Should be tough and leave the legs a bit sore!

  40. Carrie on September 16, 2010 at 1:21 pm

Well, you have yet to lead me astray as I love my chia seeds and goat cheese, and I’ve been dying to try goji berries. Just ordered mine! WHEEE!

  41. Amy on September 16, 2010 at 2:03 pm

I tried Zumba for the first time this morning! It was fun, but I felt so clumsy! I’m sure no one really noticed aside from the ladies on either side of me that I came close to running into. The place was packed!

  42. KimEatandBe on September 16, 2010 at 2:14 pm

Love the idea of a no bun burger with sweet potato fries…avoid the carb overload and achieve a yummy/balanced dinner 🙂
Work out today? Tennis! My favorite sport in the world, I am going to play some mixed doubles for 90 minutes and hopefully get an additional 30 minutes of singles in. I love tennis b/c I don’t even realize I am exercising…totally in the zone and enjoy every moment of it.

I love goji berries, but I have such a hard time finding them!

Today I just did an easy workout of 20 mins on the elliptical and 10 mins on the bike. Just enough to get my legs moving!
