Father’s Day Feast

Helloooooo 😀 How was your Sunday? Hope it was glorious and restful 🙂

I’m writing to you with a giant food baby… we just got back from dinner at the dadoo’s.

us

The Pilot got his second Father’s Day gift – the first was from my nana and this book was from my dad, stepmom and little bros

 book

It’s pretty much the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I started to read it and then I felt the sob fairy coming to visit, so I put it down 😉

My stepmom always makes an incredible spread of food and tonight was no exception.

There was a cheese plate with olive tapenade, crackers and grapes

dinner:

dinner

Salad, lobster tail (+ steak for everyone else), baked potatoes, mushrooms and green beans

aaaaaand cake 😀

cake

That piece was just as gigantic and delicious as it looks 😉

It was a blast to hang out with the fam, tell crazy stories and catch up. We signed my dad’s card from “Tom, Gina, Bella and the little nugget” and he got a kick out of that.

Well, it’s jammie time over here.

See ya in the morning with Summer Shape Up Week 3!

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: Summer Shape Up girls (and dudes!) how do you feel after last week? You’re halfway there! If you’re not doing the Shape Up thang, what’s on your fitness agenda this week? I’m bringing back morning walks.. anyone walk to virtually join me? 🙂

Awww…my hubby had his very first Father’s Day today. It was so sweet. I need to pick up that book for him!!!

That cake doesn’t even look that big, Gina. When I was preggo I could house more than that 😉

    • Fitnessista on June 19, 2011 at 11:57 pm

  3. Danielle on June 19, 2011 at 11:55 pm

P.S- I got the Sally Henderson Nails today and applied them! They look great! I was nervous to get them because I thought that they were going to be hard to do. Thanks for posting yours.

Awh that’s so great! & that food looks yummy!
My week is going to consist of semi-break haha 🙂 Tuesday & Wednesday I’m going out of town so I’ll be missing my planned bodyrock workout as well as a 4 mile run for my 10k plan! It’s okay 🙂 We all need a break from time to time.

  6. Kilee on June 20, 2011 at 12:08 am

Looks like you and your family had a fun day today! Happy Father’s Day to the daddy-to-be! Isn’t it fun to think that next year at this time, you will get to celebrate Father’s Day with a little one in the new house? I hope that you have a great week. It’s almost Kardashians time over here. Gotta get in my pj’s before it starts 🙂

    • Fitnessista on June 20, 2011 at 12:09 am

yes it definitely crazy to think about! i’m ready for kardashians over here too 🙂

Ahh, that book is so cute!! The Pilot’s going to be a great dad! I did Week 1 of Summer Shape Up but got sidetracked this week with work. I can’t wait to get back into it on Monday!! The workouts have been butt kicking 😀

  8. Colleen on June 20, 2011 at 12:37 am

Summer shape up has been going really well! It’s nice that there is flexibility within the schedule to choose different activities. I’ve noticed the most difference in my pushups!

  9. Leah on June 20, 2011 at 1:10 am

I’m a bit behind on the summer shape up – just did my second weights session for week 1 – I can already tell I’m going to be in pain (in a good way!). I was wondering though, how do you handle exercising when you have post-strength training aching muscles? I tend to avoid strength training because I know it will interfere with running (and I much prefer running!).

  10. Leslie on June 20, 2011 at 1:21 am

Glad your father’s day was great and congrats to you both! I am definitely missing my family today! Can’t wait to get into my workouts for the week! I’ve had to take a couple of days off due to the fire in my community (I live in Sierra Vista, az). It’s been so stressful, and I need a hard workout to take on the next week!
PS. I want some of that cake!! haha

  11. Namaste Gurl on June 20, 2011 at 1:24 am

  13. Ruth on June 20, 2011 at 3:32 am

Wow, what a meal! I can totally understand the sob fairy thing too. Those kind of books always make me well up! Happy father’s day to Tom! 🙂

  14. Babs on June 20, 2011 at 4:46 am

So thoughtful to get the Pilot father’s day stuff 🙂 It’s good to know there are good dads around.

  15. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on June 20, 2011 at 5:40 am

    The little nugget, cute.

I used to track my pregnancy by week and they’d say things like the baby is now the size of a blueberry.
The baby is now the size of a grape. A walnut. A strawberry.

And then for like 10-15 weeks we referred to Skylar as strawberry. Until Scott demanded we finally just name her b/c strawberry was getting a little old. But I can totally see how Gwyneth Paltrow ended up with the name Apple for her daughter 🙂

    • Fitnessista on June 20, 2011 at 9:54 am

hahah we’re doing that too. this week it’s the little fig 🙂

  16. Jessica @ Sushi and Sit-Ups on June 20, 2011 at 6:34 am

What a cute book! Happy father’s day to all of the great Dads out there. Every girl should have a dad who thinks she’s the light of his life.

  20. Yolie @ Practising Wellness on June 20, 2011 at 7:35 am

That meal you had looks completely delicious – and how lovely of your stepmom to prepare something especially for you <3 the kiddies book looks adorable, and i'm sure i would tear up in that situation too! Really happy for you both – so many congratulations, it must be such a beautiful and emotional time 🙂 xyx

  21. ellalinea on June 20, 2011 at 7:54 am

  25. mary e on June 20, 2011 at 8:57 am

i also got that book for my daddy-to-be hubby and the “sob fairy” also came when he read it to my tummy last night 🙂 this is such a wonderful time!

  26. Jordan P @ food, sweat, and beers on June 20, 2011 at 8:58 am

Ah, that book “My Dad Loves Me” is such a classic. I love all those little kid books, it’s always my favorite at baby showers to see which books the mom-to-be gets (but top notch that this one’s for a dad-to-be!!)

The meal looks divine, has me craving cake before 9am!

  27. Gina @ Running to the kitchen on June 20, 2011 at 8:58 am

That’s such a thoughtful present for the pilot. Glad you had a good day and delicious eats!

  28. The Teenage Taste on June 20, 2011 at 9:13 am

Looks like a great Father’s Day! I can’t stop drooling over your dinner. Lobster tails?! I’m totally jealous! 😛

  29. Shelley on June 20, 2011 at 9:20 am

Count me in! I miss good ol’ walking, it’s relaxing, it’s peaceful and it’s just nice to slow things down every now and then!!

  30. Chelsa on June 20, 2011 at 9:23 am

It looks like you had a lovely fathers day and dinner look tasty. I’m a week behind on the shape up but I’m excited to begin week two this week.

  31. Krystina (Organically Me) on June 20, 2011 at 9:39 am

    Mmm, lobster tails.

Next year will be the pilot’s first father’s day! How exciting. 😀

I’d love to join you for early morning walks (so long as it’s before 9am, florida is haaaaaawt)

  32. Chantal on June 20, 2011 at 10:03 am

Glad your fam’s father’s day went wonderfully 🙂
I’ve been loooving this Summer Shape Up so far. It’s the perfect amount of everything to really push yourself but it’s been spread out it in a way that your body has time to rest! I’m definitely feeling great from it and can’t wait for more!!! Thanks again!

  33. Cait @ Urban Fencepost on June 20, 2011 at 10:03 am

My fitness goal for the week – get some form of exercise in every day even though I know I have a lot going on this week.

  34. Sarah on June 20, 2011 at 10:10 am

I bet Father’s Day was extra special for you guys this year. That book was the perfect gift. So sweet.

  35. Marissa on June 20, 2011 at 10:24 am

I’ve been going for walks every morning with my dog, too! Its a great, relaxing way to start the day. I haven’t planned my workouts for this week, but today I know I’m going to take it easy. My legs are still way sore from my lower body workout on Saturday, and in the middle of the night last night I woke up screaming because of the worst Charlie-Horse I’ve ever had in my life–my right calf STILL hurts! Probably just some upper body weights today + another walk later tonight.

  36. Alyssa on June 20, 2011 at 10:33 am

Shape Up is going great! Although I only started on the second week and not the first. My arms are a little sore but it feels great! It’s giving me motivation to do some weight training instead of skipping like I normally do!

  37. Jerri on June 20, 2011 at 1:42 pm

Hey, Gina. I was wondering if you have a preferred brand of nutritional yeast. If so, can you get it at Whole Foods? I have become very interested in Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s nutritarian way of eating and thought this would be a good addition to my eating plan.

    Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on June 20, 2011 at 2:40 pm

i like the red star brand 🙂 it’s very inexpensive too!

      • Jerri on June 20, 2011 at 3:56 pm

        Thank you!

BTW, your post today must have taken you quite some time to put together with all the meal ideas and exercises. I feel safe in saying that all of us who follow your blog are most appreciative of the time you take to put that all together for us everyday!

        Happiness and health!

        • Fitnessista on June 20, 2011 at 4:01 pm

thank you jerri! it’s one of those things that never feels like work though- i love every second 🙂

  38. Lauren on June 20, 2011 at 2:48 pm

Have the pilot read that book to your belly, they say the baby will recognize it when it comes out! 🙂 it is amazing how they remember certain things from being in your belly.

    • Fitnessista on June 20, 2011 at 3:12 pm

that is SO crazy and amazing 🙂
