flash to Friday

It was a pretty great week.

With mom 1 of 1

The house feels like it’s finally put back together- I can’t wait to show you pics of Liv’s new room- work was bueno (taught Barre, Tabata and Zumba in one day!), lots of time spent with lovebug, dates with friends, some Downton Abbey- can’t complain. It was a nice end to last week’s car debacle, which definitely wasn’t my favorite. Life is so cyclical, but for that reason, I enjoy the peaks and remember that the valleys (even little valleys) are temporary.

Some things from the week:

Tiny TOMs in the kitchen,

a mama bird in the bird condo, building her nest

delicious salads for March Greens

a hot yoga class

and a girls’ night.

Brownies 1 of 1 2

(So there was one boy, but he was under the age of 5)

Our girls’ nights have changed over time, but they’re just a little earlier.. and significantly less alcohol is involved 😉 Liv and I went over to a friend’s house last night- all of the kids played together, we ate pizza, the mamas had some wine and it was rather lovely.

I brought some gluten-free brownies over, but they didn’t cook evenly. The outer parts were cooked well -I hate to overcook brownies- but the middle portion remained kind of gooey.

It was very tragic…

Brownie 1 of 1

(The Pilot and I happily took care of that)

This morning, we’re off to a baby shower and I’m hoping to venture to Lush later this afternoon. I’ve been into a few stores, but have never made a purchase. I love everything, but it seems overwhelming! Where to begin?

What are you up to this weekend? Any fun workout plans? If you’re following the March Workout plan, enjoy your off or active recovery day! I’ll be taking a walk with Bella to shake out my legs, but that’s it for me.

Enjoy your Friday!

xoxo

I love Lush! The scent of the store is very overwhelming but I’ve found that when I get products home they are not as intense. I’d start with a bar of nice smelling soap and a bath bomb if your’e into baths (do you get time for baths?!)

  2. Kaylee on March 8, 2013 at 11:12 am

I like Lush’s bath bombs, and the smell of their ‘Olive Branch’ body wash. I am going to one today actually too! I was going to pick up a sugar scrub and try out their fragrances.

  3. Lindsey on March 8, 2013 at 11:16 am

Definitely have to try a bath bomb! They make your skin so silky soft afterwards. Such a nice indulgence!

  4. Emily on March 8, 2013 at 11:17 am

It looks like you had a great week! Those baby Tom’s are so stinkin cute, can’t wait to buy some someday 🙂

I have a yoga date with my sister tomorrow. It’s been so long since we’ve gone together…I’m so excited!

  5. Heidi on March 8, 2013 at 11:20 am

Glad you had a good week! I definitely agree- enjoy the peaks and remember that the valleys are always temporary!

My husband was telling me the other day that he was reading an article that said that your life should be like driving a car- always remember that your windshield is larger than your rear-view mirror. I love that analogy!

    Happy Weekend! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on March 8, 2013 at 1:53 pm

i’ve never heard that one- love it
      happy weekend to you, too!

I used to really love Lush, but gave up on them when they told me that their products were basically not safe for anyone but adults. I went to buy some bath stuff for a mom friend, and gave up and went to a different company (which I love!) so that her kids could enjoy baths too.

Plus I found their stuff got too expensive and I no longer saw its value… And they kept discontinuing my favourite products! 🙁

Their shampoo bars are really good for travelling though. And the bath bombs are a nice occasional indulgence, just beware of the sparkles. You will find them everywhere (and randomly) for a week.

    • Jeannie on March 8, 2013 at 12:50 pm

Hi – which company did you find instead?

      • Megan on March 10, 2013 at 11:22 pm

Rocky Mountain Soap Company, but they’re pretty small, and I think only in Canada.

  7. Sarah @ Yogi in Action on March 8, 2013 at 11:38 am

I find I can’t stay in Lush for very long- all the smells end up giving me a headache. But their products are fantastic- I love how they have who made the product- though sometimes I question if it’s real or not.

Those mini Tom’s are SO cute! Why are babies/toddlers shoes so adorable?

    • Fitnessista on March 8, 2013 at 1:52 pm

i don’t know, but they’re way more fun than adult shoes

    Have a wonderful weekend friend!

LOVE the baby TOMS! I can’t wait to get some for Baby G once he is walking! <3

I send my husband to Lush when he is traveling for work to buy chocolate cupcake facial for me since we don’t have a store near us. It’s my favorite, problem is they are often sold out.

    • Fitnessista on March 8, 2013 at 1:52 pm

chocolate cupcake facial? shut the front door

  12. Brittany on March 8, 2013 at 12:18 pm

Just make sure to go to the right house for the shower this time! I’m sorry. I just had to say that!

    • Fitnessista on March 8, 2013 at 1:51 pm

i was asking for it. haha

  13. Jessica on March 8, 2013 at 12:20 pm

This weekend I am working 12 hours shifts overnight, hooray for daylight savings time! While everyone else complains about an hour lost of sleep, I am thrilled to work one less hour 🙂
Pretty sure I would eat gooey brownies, they look delicious.
My workout plans are ZCut, thanks for the review not too long ago, they inspired me to buy them! She is SO inspiring.

  14. Rebecca@Running.Food.Baby. on March 8, 2013 at 12:21 pm

adorable picture!! You both should be in all the Mommy and Toddler magazines 😉

    • Fitnessista on March 8, 2013 at 1:51 pm

      she’s the cute one 😉

  15. Georgia on March 8, 2013 at 12:30 pm

I love Lush! If you take baths the bath bombs are divine. Also the massage bars are fun… Those brownies just made my mouth water 🙂

  16. Ashley @ Life and Fitness on March 8, 2013 at 12:37 pm

I’ve never been to one of the Lush stores. From the sounds of it, if it is similar to Sephora or Ulta, I’m sure I would love it hehe.

  17. Bojana on March 8, 2013 at 12:37 pm

We have a Lush store in the city where I live, and you smell the shop even before you actually see it, so it’s impossible not to step inside and buy something 😀
I adore their shower gels since you don’t need any perfumes after the shower, the scent is so amazing and you only use a very small amount, so they last a long time. The ones I love are Flying Fox, Sonic Death Monkey and Happy Hippi. Oh, and they have this perfectly strange shampoo (called “Big”) with sea salt in it, that also smells amazing and it adds volume to thin hair (Ok, i guess you won’t really need that one 🙂 ).

I could go on and on about it, but just one thing more – the massage bars! Soft Coeur, it has reall chocolate in it. Gah! Hope you’ll give them a try 🙂

  18. Anna @ Your Healthy Place on March 8, 2013 at 12:40 pm

I know what you mean about LUSH – I’ve been in there quite a few times as well, for as long as my olfactory senses could stand it anyway!, and I just don’t know what my first purchase should be – what’s their signature go-to product??

Those brownies still look fantastic and sound amazing, for me the gooier the brownies the better!

  19. Michelle on March 8, 2013 at 12:51 pm

Definitely check out Buffy at Lush. It is an exfoliating lotion bar that you use in the shower. It’s my favorite product from there!

    • Talia on March 8, 2013 at 1:06 pm

      My fave too!!

  20. Nadja on March 8, 2013 at 12:56 pm

Glad to hear that you had a great week 🙂 mine was not so good but i tried to stay on track with studies, workout & eating clean anyways. “You” were with me everyday as I did 2 differents ab burners from you, 2 workouts and one salad! And i’m still following the plan you posted last week (even if i modified it a little). Thanks for helping me staying on track 😀 have a great weekend!

    • Fitnessista on March 8, 2013 at 1:50 pm

ahhh that makes me so happy! keep up the amazing work 🙂

  21. G on March 8, 2013 at 12:59 pm

    Those TOMs are so cute!
Salads look so good….what seasoning did you use for chicken?

  22. Michelle on March 8, 2013 at 1:37 pm

Your salad beasts and March Greens have inspired me to eat a salad for lunch everyday this week. So yummy!

Also, the baby TOMS are adorable!

  23. Joanne on March 8, 2013 at 1:42 pm

It sounds like you had a great week, I hope the weekend is just as good for you!

I adore Lush! I think the bath bombs are a great place to start. My personal faves are Avobath, Butterball, Tisty Tosty, and Ickle Baby Bot (as an occasional treat for the kids).

I’ve got a few new-to-me products on my wishlist that I can’t wait to try including ‘The Kiss’ lip gloss and Popcorn lip scrub. Salted caramel flavour lip scrub? Yes please!

(I’m in the UK so I’m not sure if the names will be different or if all these are available in the USA)

  24. Ashley on March 8, 2013 at 1:49 pm

I love Lush! My favorite item is the Buffy bar, it is a scrub bar with oils and my skin feels ah-maaazzzing afterwards. I am doing a cardio dance party class tonight and some yoga tomorrow! Then I’ll be hitting up the Farmer’s Market. I love spring and being outside, it’s a beautiful time of year! 🙂

  25. sara @ fitcupcaker on March 8, 2013 at 1:52 pm

baby toms, so cute!! OMG! And thats exactly what most of our girls nights look like these days..in bed before 11pm or midnight, on the weekends! ha

Love that first pic of you and Liv. Also, it’s great to hear that your construction projects are drawing to a close. I’m sure that’s a huge relief! I can’t wait to see some pictures of that.

  28. Stephanie @ Legally Blinde on March 9, 2013 at 12:00 am

Wow, that sleep deprivation effects link was fascinating and terrifying! (As I write this comment at midnight…) Getting ready for bed now!

    • Fitnessista on March 9, 2013 at 5:23 pm

i still went to midnight the night i read it. trying to get better!

  29. Barb on March 9, 2013 at 7:44 am

Lush is my favorite, you will spend a lot of money – be prepared! 🙂

My favorite items are Big shampoo, Sex Bomb and Dream Cream. The best part of a Lush store is talking to the associates that work there. They are SO knowledgeable and will show you everything! Enjoy!

  30. Karissa on March 9, 2013 at 11:31 am

Happy weekend!! 🙂 What an ADORABLE picture- your little girl is just gorgeous. (Oh and the pic of the brownies- made me drool, just a lil’ bit… gooey, IMHO, is a lil’ bit even better ;-))

    • Fitnessista on March 9, 2013 at 5:23 pm

thank you- she is amazing 🙂

  31. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on March 9, 2013 at 6:20 pm

Those gooey brownies still look good to me! Better undercooked than overcooked when it comes to brownies, in my opinion. 😀

  32. Veterinarianess on March 10, 2013 at 10:01 pm

Lush is great! I have a shampoo cake from there that smells like cinnamon and cloves and a matching massage bar. They both smell amazing.

And those gooey brownies are exactly how I like them 🙂
