The return of the breakfast cookie. We had them for breakfast the other day, and needless to say, Liv was stoked that she had A COOKIE FOR BREAKFAST. She ate almost the entire thing! I’m so excited to bring these back in the rotation because they’re so convenient to make the night before.

The reason why Vine exists.

.Productivity tips from a CEO.

Trader Joe’s sweet, savory trail mix. It has every type of chocolate chip, along with multiple nut options (<– a weird phrase if I ever heard one haha) and dried cranberries. I’d show you a pic, but it’s gone 😉

Livi’s singing. I finally caught the finale of “Let It Go” with the camera yesterday. I wish I could take more videos with my phone, but alas, it’s totally out of space again. #iphoneproblems

The hazards of permissive parenting.

These thoughts about Fitspo. (Basically I love everything Miz does and says and is.)

A new safety app.

Last night’s grilled feast:

Grilled 1 of 1

(chicken thigh, corn on the cob, bacon-wrapped and goat cheese stuffed jalapeños and asparagus)

This made me cry.

The Vitamix’s small yet powerful sibling:

My kind friends at Vitamix sent me one of the new S30s to check out. It’s the perfect size for smaller counter space, and I love that you can blend the smoothie in your to-go container. LOVE <3

What are your faves from the week? What are you up to this weekend??

I just found your blog a few months ago and love being inspired by your healthy lifestyle. I love to exercise, but I also love to eat, so I’m kind of running around in circles – but I keep trying!

    • Fitnessista on April 25, 2014 at 12:03 pm

thank you so much for reading!
      xoxo

So, so sweet! It looks like y’all are having such a great time. the beach is beautiful! So happy it is grill season!

  3. Marisa on April 25, 2014 at 10:57 am

    Looks delicious!

  4. Brittany on April 25, 2014 at 10:58 am

Aww I love the beach pictures!

  5. Abby on April 25, 2014 at 11:04 am

Do you have a recipe for the stuffed peppers? Also I love the vitamix! Hope I can get one soon!!

    • Fitnessista on April 25, 2014 at 11:07 am

i just seeded the peppers and filled them with slices of goat gouda,
next i wrapped them in bacon and stuck a skewer through each one to hold it in place
tom grilled them in this jalapeño grill thing that we have, and they were AMAZING

      • Abby on April 25, 2014 at 12:24 pm

I’m definately going to try this!! Thanks!

  6. Jen on April 25, 2014 at 11:12 am

    Love the beach pics! 🙂

  7. Shannon on April 25, 2014 at 11:14 am

Omg a baby Vitamix, I die! How does it compare to the full size version?

    • Fitnessista on April 25, 2014 at 11:42 am

it’s just as powerful, but smaller! it comes with a to-go container to blend, or a smaller vitamix container to blend even more.

  8. Ali on April 25, 2014 at 11:16 am

I so want one of those small Vitamix, but they are SO expensive for what it is considering I have a full size one already. I’ll be sticking with my GE personal blender (a cheap version of the magic bullet) for easy to blend things and just use the big one for harder to blend things!

  9. Ashley @ A Lady Goes West on April 25, 2014 at 11:20 am

    Happy Friday!

I’m off to a family wedding in Boonville (Northern California) this weekend. I have my cowboy boots ready for a reception in a barn.

I’m loving many things lately, including the fact that I have a vacation planned for the summer.

Oh and I am the only person in the world now who hasn’t seen Frozen. Guess I need to get on that.

    Have a great one:)

    • Fitnessista on April 25, 2014 at 11:51 am

      it’s SO GOOD

  10. Debbie P. on April 25, 2014 at 11:28 am

I just found your site a few months ago and LOVE it and what all you post as I FINALLY have gotten back in the gym, but sadly only every other week. I bought some dumb bells and have a treadmill in the garage, so hoping to do some workouts at home the weeks I can’t go to the gym.

  11. RachelG on April 25, 2014 at 11:46 am

These pictures are really making me excited for my San Diego/CA trip this Summer! My friends live in Carlsbad and are literally a block away from the beach. During our super cold Winter I was getting weekly weather reports from them…75 and sunny every day. 🙂

  12. Lucie@FitSwissChick on April 25, 2014 at 11:52 am

The beach pictures are sooooo gorgeous!! I can not wait for my vacay in Spain next month!
This week’s fave was the ordering of my new furniture – all beach-y style and sha by chic. Can not wait for them to arrive and move!!

  13. Cassie Vaughn on April 25, 2014 at 11:54 am

One of my newest youtube yoga ULTIMATE favorite now is Yoga with Adriene!!

    • Fitnessista on April 25, 2014 at 11:58 am

      ohhh i’ll check it out!
have you done erin motz’s videos?? i love her

      • Cassie Vaughn on April 25, 2014 at 12:17 pm

Yes, I’m anxiously awaiting MyYogaPro!!! I love Adriene just as much if not more since she has a few full length yoga videos on YouTube for FREE! They’re very similar to me.

  14. Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries on April 25, 2014 at 11:56 am

I forgot about the famous Breakfast Cookie! I’ve been in a little bit of a “breakfast rut”, so I’ll have to put that one back in my rotation.

Mmmm, I love to grill everything during the warmer months!

  15. Karissa on April 25, 2014 at 11:59 am

Love the articles you post! That grill feast looks fantastic! We just got a grill last weekend, and I am SO EXCITED! To me, it’s not fully summer till I’m cooking a good deal of my food outside on the grill. (And the fact that it keeps the house from becoming unbearably hot helps too.) 😉

  16. Polly @ Tasty Food Project on April 25, 2014 at 12:02 pm

Those bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapenos look so good!!

    Have a great weekend!

  17. Heather Cory on April 25, 2014 at 12:19 pm

Reading your blog every morning always motivates me to eat well, workout, and take care of my body. And I’m obsessed with the egg puff! haha I’ll have to try the breakfast cookie next!

  18. Verhanika on April 25, 2014 at 12:19 pm

I wrote a similar article about Fitspo about a month ago: http://wholesoullab.com/fitspo/.

Fitspo makes me so mad! I’m happy for those looking to stay healthy and fit, but not at the expense of self-esteem and using comparison and shame as the means of achieving it.

  19. Gina on April 25, 2014 at 12:23 pm

Ooooh I really want to try the S30! Lucky! We have no counter space…cooking dinner is like playing “how to rearrange the kitchen every 3 minutes to get everything mixed and chopped and seasoned without knocking something on the floor?” LOL

Bacon-wrapped goat cheese-stuffed jalapenos = HEAVEN! I’ve got to make those!

  20. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on April 25, 2014 at 12:34 pm

Ohmygosh that’s Livi running in the first pic? She looks so grown up!!

  21. Stephanie @ Whole Health Dork on April 25, 2014 at 1:06 pm

I hadn’t heard of the Kitestring app. Thanks for sharing! Such a great idea. Would be helpful for when I go out on a run after work. I mean, if my husband didn’t hear from me in a couple of hours he would start to wonder (obviously), but I like that there’s timing on it. Great find!
I’m loving the weather! The polar vortex is no more! We’re still getting some 40 degree days here in Massachusetts, but we’re overall on the up and up.

  22. Megan @ The Skinny-Life on April 25, 2014 at 1:09 pm

I have not tried the breakfast cookie yet but I totally need to. Am I the only person who lives for breakfast? I swear that and coffee gets me through my morning workout. I totally could use one of those small vitamix machines too. Mine is too big for single juices and smoothies.

  23. Megan on April 25, 2014 at 1:09 pm

I NEED that new baby blender! Also, I found your blog a couple of months ago and must say I now read it religiously. Have a great weekend!

  24. Crystal on April 25, 2014 at 1:24 pm

    Love the beach pics!

We have family visiting this weekend. It’s supposed to be beautiful here in southern Illinois, so we’re hitting up some wineries!

  25. Kara on April 25, 2014 at 1:39 pm

Would love to join the email list!

Your blog is very upbeat and positive -a nice read!

  26. Stephanie on April 25, 2014 at 1:53 pm

I have been looking for new breakfast ideas lately, so I am definitely going to give your breakfast cookie a try!

As far as weekend plans, my bridal shower is Sunday and I am so excited! 🙂

  27. Rebecca m on April 25, 2014 at 2:15 pm

Oh wow, that blender looks awesome! I love your blog and workouts. So glad you’re enjoying California, welcome!

where is that denim overall on Livi from?? it is sooo cute on her!!

  31. Suzi @ Confessions of a Fitness Instructor on April 25, 2014 at 3:25 pm

Holy crapolli (did I just make that word up? haha) Liv looks like such a big girl in that first picture? Where did your little baby/toddler go!?!?

And that trail mix sounds amazing! Makes me wish I didn’t live in the middle of nowhere where toe the trader doesn’t exist. le sigh 😉

  32. JennP on April 25, 2014 at 3:25 pm

I make breakfast cookies all the time. Mine have oats, flax seeds, banana, coconut oil, applesauce & honey. My kids just love them, but they aren’t so sweet or tempting that I want to eat 6 of them before bed – a perfect balance 🙂

Also, great article on the dangers of permissive parenting! I nodded along to the whole thing. I love to spoil my kids, and I think there’s a time and a place for giving in a little, but rules and routines are so important. My kids own my heart, but they don’t run my household!

  33. Crystal N on April 25, 2014 at 3:31 pm

I’ve been reading for a couple of years and really love your blog. It’s been inspiring and a joy to read. I’m not sure why I haven’t signed up for emails because I need all the motivation and inspiration I can get. I’m a Mama of three that is trying to get back in the swing of eating right and fitness. I know I would enjoy the newsletter! Mentioning the breakfast cookie reminded me that I need to make some. My kids love them and have requested them the past two years as their back to school breakfast! 🙂

  34. Rhiannon @ Bound to be a Buckeye on April 25, 2014 at 4:31 pm

I can’t wait to try your jalapeños on the grill!! I was just getting excited thinking about how it’ll soon be time for our farmer’s markets to open up. I might have to invest in a Vitamix for smoothies this summer.

  35. Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs on April 25, 2014 at 4:38 pm

So jealous of your beach photos! 🙂

    Happy Weekend!

  36. Kim on April 25, 2014 at 5:34 pm

Yummm that looks so delicious! I can’t wait for the weather to be warmer here in Chicago!

I definitely need a little motivation in my life right now. I would love to get your newsletter.

that’s awesome! we love your city 🙂

  40. Kathleen on April 25, 2014 at 7:13 pm

Aww! I love Frozen! You should put the video on the blog!
A girl in my birth class made us gifts with our birth affirmations on it and I told her mine was let it go and she gave me a funny look. This was before I watched Frozen so now I understand lol!

    • Fitnessista on April 25, 2014 at 7:29 pm

i just posted it on the family page 🙂
hahaah! that’s my philosophy for a lot of things now 😉

  41. jen on April 25, 2014 at 7:59 pm

I’m hoping vitamix makes a to-go container that works on the other blenders, I got the 750 pro a year ago and that wasn’t cheap so cant justify buying that unit only for the to go container.

    • Fitnessista on April 25, 2014 at 8:11 pm

i hope they can, too. i’m not sure how they would do it because the blade detaches in this one, so it’s easy to remove after you’re done blending :/

  42. Traci on April 25, 2014 at 9:47 pm

Ah, that mini blender looks like perfection!

  43. Britt on April 25, 2014 at 10:12 pm

I love following your blog! Thanks for sharing, I also love that mini blender!

  44. Erin Hack on April 25, 2014 at 10:40 pm

That pic of Your daughter running in overalls is too cute for words! I love seeing your San Diego adventures and wish you well in your new city. 🙂

  45. Liz on April 25, 2014 at 11:39 pm

I am not sure if you have already touched on this in previous posts but do you give Liv protein powder or is there something you sub in the bfast cookie for her?? WOuld love to make them for my little one.

    • Fitnessista on April 25, 2014 at 11:47 pm

i just skip the protein powder for her. i’ll do about 1/4-1/3 cup oats, 1 heaping tablespoon sunflower or peanut butter, crumble it up with the spoon and then i add milk, cinnamon, 1/2 mashed banana, some berries and some chocolate chips. she goes crazy for it!

  46. Rebecca on April 25, 2014 at 11:41 pm

That grill feast looks awesome! Thanks for the inspiration!

  47. Jess on April 26, 2014 at 6:59 am

Wow-thanks for sharing that Fitspo piece! So many of the things I’ve been struggling to articulate.
Also, I love your breakfast cookie recipe—been ages since I’ve made one, but now I’m thinking it’ll be the perfect way to get me through a crazy workweek coming up : )

  48. Morgan on April 26, 2014 at 7:45 am

I would love to get your emails!

  49. Katie @ Talk Less, Say More on April 26, 2014 at 7:46 am

I have a Ninja that has the big blender container but then also has the smaller to-go cup. I LOVE being able to blend and go without any kind of transfer. Awesome!

  50. Katie on April 26, 2014 at 7:57 am

Love the mini vitamix! Living vicariously through your beach photos from here in chilly Wisconsin 🙂

    • Fitnessista on April 26, 2014 at 5:55 pm
