Friday Faves + hellooo from IDEA

H friends! Happy Friday! What are you up to this weekend?? Any fun fitness plans or events coming up?

I’m here at the IDEA World Fitness convention, and having a blast as usual. It’s always such a great opportunity to surround myself with fellow fitness fanatics, learn from the best in the industry, and see some of my best blog friends (and meet new ones!).

Blog friends at IDEA

(with Ashley, Katy, Jess, Sandra, Giselle and Heather)

I’ll be back with a full recap from IDEA and BlogFest next week, but in the meantime, here are some faves from the week and around the web. I always love to hear what you’re enjoying, too, so please feel free to shout out in the comments below!

Tiny Freshly Picked moccasins that arrived this week. I’ve done fairly well at minimizing baby-related purchases, but sometimes I can’t help myself.

Graduating from Yoga Teacher Training TOMORROW! It’s been such an amazing journey, and I’ll definitely write a wrap-up post with my experience. (Here are two posts I’ve written about it so far, plus a post on meditation.) Something interesting about teacher training: we didn’t spend that much time on the physical asana of the practice. Most of that was to be done outside of our 200-hour course. Instead, we delved into the history of yoga, studied the sutras, practiced meditation techniques, and focused on special considerations, alignment and anatomy. I’m excited to celebrate with my fellow trainees tomorrow.

The Pilot’s face before trying T25 for the first time.

Tom before shaun t destruction

(I did it with him and LOVED it! Shaun T. = so motivating, so nice to look at, and so mean at the same time. I still got an awesome sweat, even by modifying everything to make it lower impact. Since my teaching schedule is winding down over the next couple of months, a few friends and I are going to start Piyo on the 27th. I’ve been wanting to try it forever and I’m obsessed with Chalene Johnson. If you’d like to join in, send me an email to fitnessista at gmail, subject: PIYO)

This lunch. I feel like I could eat this every day right now. Paleo bread with avocado, lime juice, sea salt and tomatoes from our garden + healthy tuna on spinach. Perfect.

Tuna salad

A pedicure. Usually my nails or toes are frantically painted with Liv by my side, and I instantly scratch them on something. Since it’s getting a little contort to paint my toes, I decided to book a pedicure. It was such a beautiful treat! (Fellow San Diego friends, I go to Therapie in OB- fantastic facials and massages, too)

Thank you to POPSUGAR for featuring my core post!

THIS SONG. So fresh.

Hope you have an amazing weekend! See ya later today with a Fitness Fashion Friday post.

The picture of the cookie date is too cute!
The one of preggy bakasana is inspiring as I’m still working on getting into bakasana (and I’m not even pregnant!).
It would be interesting to see the Pilot’s face at the end of the T-25 session 🙂
I’m in my fifth week & I’m modifying tons too but it doesn’t seem to stop the sweat! 😉

    • Fitnessista on July 17, 2015 at 1:11 pm

you will get it! it seriously took me a year or so to get it. it’s all about the balance transfer. put your weight into your hands and gently start to tilt forward until you find the sweet spot
haha after T25 he was walking around cursing outside. no photos.

      • Sasha M on July 18, 2015 at 1:05 am

Thank you for the encouragement, God knows I need it!
Bakasana was on my New Year’s resolution list and I was beginning
to doubt myself since it’s now July. Your words give me renewed hope!

I must also thank you for introducing me to Shaun T 🙂
I’d never heard of him until I started reading your blog –
now, he & I are going steady and it promises to be a long & fun relationship 😉

  8. Maria on July 17, 2015 at 8:34 am

The conference sounds like so much fun! I’d love to check it out one day. Your lunch looks delicious! What recipe have you been using for paleo bread? I want to make some this weekend and am looking for a new recipe. I’m CRAVING cold cut sandwiches right now like no one’s business!

    • Fitnessista on July 17, 2015 at 1:10 pm

it’s been a blast, thank you!
i use the elana’s pantry recipe every time. it’s perfect

Pedicures are the perfect “treat yo’self” experience. I love having pretty toes to look at for weeks afterward, especially since I’m barefoot doing yoga almost every day!
Question for you: I recently checked out the Les Mills on demand site and I was thinking about investing in a full set of weights and trying out his on demand workouts. The fee for access to all his workouts is MUCH cheaper than any gym membership and I could work out on my own schedule. However, I love my BODYPUMP instructors and I like going to the classes to pump to loud music with other cool BODYPUMPers. Do you have any thoughts on the new wave of on-demand fitness sites like Les Mills or Hulu’s Daily Burn? Does a BODYPUMP or BODYCOMBAT class translate as well at home as in the gym? Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on July 17, 2015 at 1:09 pm

so true!! sometimes in yoga, i would look down and be like “oh no” aha
i haven’t checked it out yet, but i imagine it would be great! do they update it with new releases as they come out?? i’m biased, but i will always think live classes are better than virtual. the energy just isn’t the same. however, i LOVE online workouts when i’m in a pinch or traveling. i usually end up doing at least one from home a week and it’s nice to have someone else plan it out for me!

  10. Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious on July 17, 2015 at 9:22 am

I am SO BUMMED I couldn’t get to IDEA. Too much pain in my knee from the car accident to travel this week and had to cancel my trip last minute. It breaks my heart seeing everyone’s pics. 🙁

    • Fitnessista on July 17, 2015 at 1:08 pm

i’m so sorry to hear about the car accident 🙁 hope you continue to have a good recovery. i’m glad you’re ok despite the knee injury– that’s really scary

  12. Julie @ A Better Life with Burgers on July 17, 2015 at 10:16 am

Hahaha I’m reading Liv’s face in that “cheers” pic as “Umm…when can I eat this?” Maybe because that’s what I would be thinking.

I love hearing about your IDEA experience! Hope it continues to go well!

    • Fitnessista on July 17, 2015 at 1:07 pm

right! she was like “do we really have to take a picture right now?”

  13. jodie on July 17, 2015 at 10:32 am

I want to go to the Idea Fitness World Convention next year. It looks like such a great opportunity to have fun, meet new bloggers and fitness professionals and learn more about fitness. do you sign up for specific sessions or is it one big event you sign up for and go to the specific sessions that interest you?

    • Fitnessista on July 17, 2015 at 1:06 pm

you can sign up for the idea conference, or for blogest which includes idea sessions on saturday. if you do blogfest, there is a set schedule, and if you do idea, there are hundreds of classes and sessions to choose from
