Friday Faves + off to the happiest place

Hi friends! HAPPY FRIDAY and happy first day of spring! We are on our way to Disneyland for a little getaway, and it was so fun to tell Liv where we’re heading. She was so surprised, and can’t wait to see her cousins.

Cinderella dress 1 of 1

(Cinderella dress is washed and ready… for fairy dust, all the chocolate rice crispy treats and ride smudges haha)

In standard Friday style, here are some faves from the week and around the web. As always, I love to hear what you’re loving, so please join in the fun in the comments section if you’d like. 🙂

MARCH MADNESS is here! I look forward to this all year. After yesterday, we could basically burn our brackets, but we’re loving watching all of the games and cheering for our beloved Cats.

Liv knows all the words to “Bear Down, Arizona.” I’m so proud.

This dress. I got it a couple of weeks ago and feel like it will the be spring uniform. I’m lusting over every color now…

This honey latte from Better Buzz, decaf with almond milk. It was probably a sugar bomb, because it tastes like a decadent dessert, but it was so, so good.

Park dates with my best girl. Always the best.

Fascinating facts about fascia.

25 workout moves fit people love to do. Oh hi, burpees.

Tempeh bacon sandwich on gf bread from the co-op. It had Veganaise, avocado, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, pickles, tempeh bacon and mustard. Lunch every day would be ok with meeeeee.

Ludicrous things said during yoga class. The ice cream truck one killed me.

Massive list of healthy eating infographics. I was excited to see my friend Kath on there!

I’m really excited for Lip Sync Battle.

21 movies you should watch if you love food.

The best way to eat almond butter.

Abandchoc

(So happy it’s Miller sandal weather again!)

These lovely friends from Covet PR, who took my spin class. 🙂

Yoga teacher training! We started last night, and I’m so so glad I made the leap to go for it. We talked a little bit about Patajali and the yoga sutras, but also worked in pairs to find a starting point for our training and practice. For a minute and a half, we had to ask our partner, “Who are you?” over and over again, and they had to give a different answer each time. It’s interesting how you get past the superficial stuff (your name, your job, your marital/child status) and start to dig deeper, you begin to discover your true self. It was a challenging exercise! Our instructor told us that when we do the exercise again at the end of our training, we’ll have a better understanding of who we truly are.

What are you loving this Friday? Anything exciting happening this weekend? How’s your bracket doing? 😉

Hope you have a very happy Friday! <3

xoxo

Gina

Lip Sync Battle LOOKS AWESOME!! so excited!

  3. Jessica on March 20, 2015 at 6:28 am

Can’t wait for Lip Sync Battle. I love the segments Jimmy Fallon has done on his show.

I am also cheering for my Cats, but for me it is the Kentucky Wildcats. I spend the entire tournament getting attached to teams I have never watched before and feeling anxiety ridden over the fate of my team.

  4. Carly on March 20, 2015 at 6:28 am

fun weekend ahead you have! Disney is on my list of places to go (no…i didn’t go as a child and currently i have no children. It’s either wait or be that adult who goes…not sure which is better.)
i am loving this friday because my yoga studio finally has a sale on class card passes! i can’t afford/don’t want to afford a membership since i pay for a gym one already, so i wait faithfully until there are sales on the class card passes. Well, happy spring, they are having one this weekend! So excited to have yoga back in my life 🙂

  11. Kathy on March 20, 2015 at 7:27 am

They forgot ” the Hundred Foot Journey” under their list of movies that have to do with food. That was an excellent movie.

  12. Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed on March 20, 2015 at 7:32 am

Love the silly things said in yoga classes! Also Go Villanova 😛

I am super pumped for Lip Sync! It looks so good!

That sounds like such an amazing exercise to do at yoga teacher training! I was sitting here thinking if I’d even be able to do it! I can’t wait to hear more stories about your training!

Hope you guys have a fantastic time!!!

if you want a honey latte that will Blow. Your. Mind- try Ryan Bros in Barrio

Chocolate chips + almond butter— you can never go wrong!

  17. Chelsea @ TableForOne on March 20, 2015 at 8:12 am

That dress is so pretty! I am loving soft spring dresses that I can just throw on with a sweater right now. This one is right up my alley.

  18. Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday on March 20, 2015 at 8:18 am

Have fun at Disney!! And 100% yes to the almond butter + chocolate chips – sooooo good. Have a great weekend! 🙂

  19. Elle on March 20, 2015 at 8:40 am

I loved those things yoga teachers say. I went to a really, really new-agey yoga class a few weeks ago and she said a lot of things like that.

  20. Stephanie @ Whole Health Dork on March 20, 2015 at 8:59 am

Fascia is amazing! I got a whole new perspective on it after dissections in my Anatomy and Physiology classes. It’s like this amazingly complex spider web.
Um, that zombie press is ridiculous. Maybe in another life…
I think my fave infographic is the simple hummus one! Loving the list of foodie movies. Julie and Julia was on the other day and I got sucked in for a few minutes.

    • Jen on March 20, 2015 at 6:42 pm

When I took my dissection class in 2005, we spent basically no time thinking about or discussing fascia. We essentially just swept it out of the way in search of the “important” muscles, nerves, ect. It’s amazing how knowledge and perspective changes in just 10 years.

  21. Sam @ Grapefruit & Granola on March 20, 2015 at 9:11 am

I didn’t make a bracket but I was hoping Hampton would be a Cinderella team. I loved their coach!

  22. Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me on March 20, 2015 at 9:29 am

Have the greatest time at Disneyland!

  23. Kate @ www.socalrunnergal.com on March 20, 2015 at 9:38 am

You’re seriously just the cutest thing ever!

Where are you doing your teacher training? Excited to hear more about it.
I need to come take one of your classes at Pt Loma Sports Club! I have Fitn, so I can go there now!

  24. Catherine on March 20, 2015 at 9:59 am

Loved the yoga sayings; though some of the instructions sound like they would be painful to follow…oh and I do have two butts so I totally get that one about your other butt :).

Hope you and the fam have a wonderful day at Disney! We are celebrating the first day of spring here in NJ with a forecast of 5 inches of snow!

  25. Tracy on March 20, 2015 at 10:08 am

So many great Friday faves! And yay for YTT training starting. That sounds like a fascinating exercise. Interesting that you met on a Thursday night.. what is the time schedule format of your program? Mine is all day (10-7) Sat and Sundays, every other weekend.

Have fun at Disney and have a great weekend!

  26. kristin | W [H] A T C H on March 20, 2015 at 10:24 am

that little dress! i would’ve died if i had a dress like that to wear to disney when i was liv’s age.

  27. Heather @ Life In Leggings on March 20, 2015 at 10:47 am

So… I haven’t put a bracket together, but I will root for your Cats if you root for our Razorbacks, unless they play each other. Obviously. That almond butter!! Stop. So good. Love, love, love Liv’s dress. Have a great weekend! xo

That yoga teacher training exercise sounds awesome!! I would love to do that! You really would have to dig deep to determine what really defines you!

  29. Brittany on March 20, 2015 at 11:16 am

Happy Friday!! I saw that dress at Nords– the black small is on sale right now for $80!!! So cute

  31. Nicole on March 20, 2015 at 11:51 am

Also SO excited for Lip Sync Battle. Bracket is awful–I want to know how the people who still have high scores are so good at predicting upsets!

  32. Bethany on March 20, 2015 at 12:41 pm

I am loving final outs and TLF!!!!! =)

  33. Erin @ Erin's Inside Job on March 20, 2015 at 12:44 pm

When I was visiting family in Santa Monica last month I had a decaf honey almond milk latte everyday. Then I came home and made my own but with cashew milk because that’s what I have been making and drinking lately. It was so delicious.

Have a fun trip to Disneyland! I remember being a kid and my parents surprising us with a trip to Busch Gardens. That was amazing!

  34. Christine on March 20, 2015 at 1:59 pm

#19, if we hold a lot of anger in our thighs then I am an angry person!

  36. Erin on March 20, 2015 at 6:11 pm

Lip Sync Battle makes me want to get cable. Looks amazing. Plus LL Cool J, swoon!

  37. Erika S. on March 20, 2015 at 6:43 pm

That dress looks so comfy! I thought about you yesterday as I was watching the AZ game…I’m a Villanova fan so I’m ready to see them go all the way!!!

Loved the link about the foods…sooo helpful! I’ve already forwarded it to friends!

This week I’m loved baked chicken wings (obsessed is more like it) and 305 Fitness. I saw it from another commenter and found a location near me in DC. It’s like zumba on steroids. I’m liking it so far…dancing in a dark room w/loud music and colored lights will get me going any time!

    • Fitnessista on March 22, 2015 at 4:18 pm

ahhhh i can’t wait to try it!

  38. Ashley on March 20, 2015 at 8:51 pm

I’m laughing tears from ludicrous yoga quotes….remember the sea pod yoga class?!?! And “your breath is breast milk” whaaaaaat?

    • Fitnessista on March 22, 2015 at 4:18 pm

i will never forget the sea pod yoga class haha

  39. Molly on March 20, 2015 at 10:59 pm

You have to try the “best drink ever” (that’s its name) at better buzz. And the TLT (get it?) at true foods!

    • Fitnessista on March 22, 2015 at 4:18 pm

      happening 🙂

  40. Stephanie on March 21, 2015 at 1:36 pm
