fun in the Sandy Eggo

Hi friends! How’s your morning going? I hope that whether you celebrated Passover, Easter, or a glorious weekend, that it was a great one! We got to spend our holiday weekend surrounded with some of HOME. My madre, stepdad and little bro came to stay with us, and we had so much fun taking them around to some favorite spots.

Trev liv and madre

My mom and brother have been able to visit often, but my stepdad is usually busy with work and hasn’t been to San Diego in years. We were excited to take them on some adventures while they were here, in addition to the necessary chilling at the beach and around the house.

Everything seems like a blur now as far as timing/days go, but one afternoon we rented a boat to explore Mission Bay. The best part: a harbor seal popped up to say hello multiple times as we drove out of the dock area.

Sadly, I was unable to snap a picture of the seal, but here’s a boat Suja

and some of his friends.

Dinner was at Fish Market, which has become one of our favorite seafood spots. They have literally any type of fish and preparation you could wish for, and the ingredients are super fresh. It’s also wonderfully kid-friendly.

I was pretty shocked when Liv took a mussel off my plate and ate it! She said she didn’t like it, but I was stoked that she tried one.

Black mussels

I had no problem finishing the rest. 😉

We also took them to Rancho’s (awesome Mexican food with tons of vegan and raw options), Old Town, Belmont Park, and the beach.

Saturday afternoon, madre and I had a little cooking extravangaza to prep everything for Easter brunch. I’ll have a recap up later today, but banana pudding was definitely involved:

and I FINALLY MADE NANA’S FAMOUS EGG DISH. It was amaaaaazing. While it wasn’t *exactly* the same -you can’t bottle nana magic- it was pretty darn close. I emailed her to ask if I could post the recipe for you all this afternoon!

Hope you’re all enjoying the morning <3

It’s BODYPUMP time over here.

What was a highlight of your weekend? Best thing you ate? Any workout adventures? I had barre Friday, Zumba Saturday, and Sunday, I took Bell for a long walk. (I asked Caro to join but she was happily snoring after the brunch and company.)

Check in with today’s workout here! Hope you enjoy the HIIT challenge!

Looks like a fun weekend! Cute family pic! Glad you guys still had nice weather this weekend while ours took a turn for the chilly and drizzly. I know we need rain, but why Easter?!

What a fun Easter weekend! You’re making me want to visit San Diego SO badly!

Looks so fun!! Highlight of my weekend was actually spring cleaning. I went through the kitchen and a couple of closets and got rid of a bunch of stuff. While it doesn’t LOOK very different, seeing as most of the stuff had been in boxes or cupboards, it feels awesome.

Best thing I ate was avocado and hard boiled egg mashed up on a piece of toast. It was after a long hike so it was very welcome hahaha.

And 50 miler training starts today! Woooooo and aaahhhh!!!

I cooked for Passover this weekend and as much as I love holiday cooking I need a break! Your holiday weekend looks great, and super delicious 🙂

Have you ever been to the Pacific Beach fish shop? I don’t know how far away it would be for you, but it is right on the beach and it has the best seafood! I think you and your family would love it. As a fellow San Diegan, I frequent that place a lot! 🙂

Oh it’s so fun to show your family around your ‘hood. Sounds just lovely! It was just me and the husband this Easter, so we made a feast, took a walk and enjoyed a relaxing day. And I’m launching BODYATTACK 88 tonight and BODYPUMP 93 tomorrow, so I also spent time prepping for that!

Sounds like you guys had a great Easter weekend.

I miss seeing seals when I was in San Francisco years ago. I think it’s time I took another trip to the west coast.

I actually have a hand-written card from my daughter when she was around 8 that told me to have a good time on my business trip to Sandy Ago. lol.

She also at around age 5 reached out and grabbed a (tentacled) calamari off a plate of cold apps we’d pushed aside and demanded calamari at every restaurant we went to for a couple years after that!

Looks like a GREAT weekend! I cannot wait for the egg recipe – that looks delicious 😀

The weather was shockingly quite lovely in Chicago this weekend – perfect for an egg hunt with the niece and nephews! Also, my husband and I baked up a batch of mini-egg blondies and they turned out really well!

I love the pic of you, Livi, and the pilot! Such a gorgeous family 🙂 I need to try that banana pudding recipe and I’m excited for the egg recipe too! The best part of my weekend was celebrating getting into grad school and hunting for Easter eggs filled with money in one of my best friends’ backyards while drinking hard cider. It was a classy Easter and so much fun! 😉

Looks like a great weekend! The best part of my weekend was finalizing our hotel plans for our HONEYMOON… which is in 6 weeks… to Thailand and Japan. Can. Not. Wait. Can’t wait to get married, too! ; )

Also, I’m secretly hoping that the reason you said in your “secret” family posts that you can’t tell us anything until this week is because you had your family in this weekend, and you had to tell them all first : ) Hope you’re having a great Monday!

    • Fitnessista on April 6, 2015 at 4:23 pm

ahhh that is so exciting!!! 🙂
hope you had a great weekend <3

Looks like a great weekend! The weather is finally warming up here in Chicago so I spent a lot of both days outside in the world. It was great! I love being able to be outside with the sun and not carting around a giant arctic coat.

  20. Aly on April 6, 2015 at 2:05 pm

Looks gorgeous! Can’t put my finger on it, but you look a little different! Glad you had a nice Easter.

    • Fitnessista on April 6, 2015 at 4:23 pm

thank you, hope you had a great weekend too!

What a beautiful outing! Mission Bay reminds me of a much warmer version of Victoria, BC in Canada which is my hometown. Seals galore!! Love the San Diego sunsets too – I swear I’ve seen the green flash.

    xx Jill
