Good as New

Hey friends! How was your Saturday?

flowers

Mine has been pretty lovely 🙂 It started off with 20 minutes of interval jump roping (40 rounds of 10 seconds off, 20 seconds on) and some gluten-free waffles with blackberries and cashew butter:

waffles

(For the record, giving up almond butter for Lent has been highly ineffective. I have a jar of cashew butter that’s almost gone)

Packed up lunch:

spaghetti

(Black bean spaghetti with sundried tomato vinaigrette, bell pepper and carrots)

Snackage:

yogurt

and went to do the work thang.

This is Duncan, one of today’s visitors:

duncan

He enjoyed grunting around and licking the manni’s toes 😉

After work, I rushed over to my madre’s salon for a hair appointment:

hair3

since the Pilot is coming home soon, I’m slowly getting getting back the personal hygiene that’s fallen by the wayside 😉

Hair cut, colored and keratin-ized:

hair2

and unibrow is gone. I feel like a new person! Haha.

I’m back at the casa and just found out that VIESA is in town! I’m off to snuggle her Shiba face.

Have a wonderful night and I’ll see ya in the morning! My nana and I are going house hunting tomorrow 🙂

xoxo

Gina

How exciting to be getting ready to see your hubby again 🙂 Lovely anticipation! I have looked eeeeverywhere for black bean noodles, and I am totally stumped. I live in Boulder, which is considered a health food capital and I still get lookes like I’m insane when I ask stores if they carry them. I’ll have to just lust after your photos 😉

Hair cut, colored and keratin-ized = looking sassy, beautiful, lovely, and GREAT! Wow!

I got another Brazilian Blowout yesterday. Will blog about it tomorrow. I had one 5 mos ago but it wore off. Your keratin treatment is looking gorgeous as is the cut and color. Hair…I could talk hair all day 🙂

And the Pilot will be blown away by how fantastic you’re looking when he finally sees you, soon, and in person!
    🙂

  8. Liz on March 12, 2011 at 10:25 pm

Where do you buy the black/mung bean pastas? I’ve checked my co-op and Whole foods and can’t find them anywhere!

  9. Sarra on March 12, 2011 at 10:25 pm

    you have amazing hair!

i LOLed when i read this: “since the Pilot is coming home soon, I’m slowly getting getting back the personal hygiene that’s fallen by the wayside” hahahaha i have a lot of married friends whose husbands are away a lot. And when they come home, they’re always like “mannn, now i have to be a wife again” hahaha 😉

  11. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on March 12, 2011 at 10:32 pm

Ha ha, I can totally relate! I’ve been away on business for the past week, and some hygiene things definitely “fall by the wayside” when the hubby isn’t around. 😉

Your hair looks great! Hope you have good luck house-hunting tomorrow!!

  12. Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete on March 12, 2011 at 10:35 pm

Your hair is so beautiful! How often do you need to get Keratin treatments? And does it depend on the person’s hair type/length?

  13. mimi on March 12, 2011 at 10:36 pm

Can you share more about the keratin treatment? Do you like it? My salon just started offering it but it is rather pricey (~$300) and I’m debating it!

  14. Lori H on March 12, 2011 at 10:56 pm

Your hair is stunning!!!!!!! Dang Girl! Happy Househunting! I loved the first house. I should mention that I am addicted to House Hunters on HGTV. Good Luck! I’m sure your Nana will be a great experienced companion for the house hunting!

  16. Alexandrina @ The Cardio Queen on March 12, 2011 at 11:14 pm

Where do you get the black bean pasta??? I had never even heard of it until this blog and now I’d really like to try it!

  17. Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table on March 12, 2011 at 11:15 pm

You have gorgeous hair. Love the color, too. I can’t wait to get mins done Friday!!!

  18. Mindy on March 12, 2011 at 11:18 pm

your hair is beautiful! I would love to try a keratin treatment…my hair is curly and frizzy.

Oh, I had macaroons for the first time ever – Hail Merry brand choco flavored. I saw them at WF and wanted to try them. oh.my.god. they were SO yummy. I can only imagine how amazing homemade macaroons taste!

Still didn’t find the black bean spaghetti unfortunately. But found some other goodies! Beet chips and cacao powder…can’t wait to use the cacao powder in something. I hope I like it!

    Have a great Sunday!!

  19. Amanda on March 12, 2011 at 11:31 pm

Your hair looks so healthy and great! 🙂 And black bean spaghetti sounds really interesting!I might have to try to find that! Hope you have a great day!

  20. Dominique @ The Good Life on March 12, 2011 at 11:32 pm

Black bean s’getti looks fab! Now I’m itching to try some.

    Your. Hair.
How stinkin’ perfect! How well do you like the keratin treatment, and how often do you have to get it done? I’m considering it, but as a college student, I won’t be able to do it often.

  21. J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) on March 12, 2011 at 11:43 pm

    Your hair is gorgeous!

I hVe a package of black bean pasta, ant wait to try it. It looks really good!!

  22. Suzanne on March 12, 2011 at 11:48 pm

Sorry to repeat what the above posters are asking – but where can I find the black bean pasta? I’ve looked everywhere here in NJ but to no avail. 🙁 And I can’t find it anywhere online either.

How long does your hair take when you get it keratinized? It looks great by the way!

  23. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on March 13, 2011 at 12:35 am

I LOVE your hair! It’s absolutely beautiful. I love the way a fresh hair cut, wax and just getting pampered makes you feel.

  24. Valerie @ City|Life|Eats on March 13, 2011 at 12:46 am

Your hair looks great. I keep meaning to get some black bean pasta, but worry about gluten cross-contamination (the brand at my local WF says it is processed on equipment that also handles wheat products).

  25. mi-an dela cruz on March 13, 2011 at 12:49 am

Until today, I still have not spotted black bean spaghetti at WF’s. and i go to 3 different w(t)f’s throughout the week! ugh. btw your hair…haaayyyy!!! 🙂 have a nice sat. night!

  26. Emma (Namaste Everyday) on March 13, 2011 at 1:24 am

YUMmy lunch! also where do you find black bean noodles? i’ve never had em!

  27. Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife on March 13, 2011 at 1:26 am

  29. emma on March 13, 2011 at 4:02 am

Wow! Your hair looks gorgeous! Pilot won’t know what’s hit him!

  30. Charlotte on March 13, 2011 at 6:20 am

Your hair looks beaaaaauutiful! Your post made me laugh for two reasons 1. Your description of the grunting bull dog licking manicans in lulu lemon 2. When I read you were going house hunting I accidentally read it as you were going hunting with your grandmother, oops. Heheheh

    • Fitnessista on March 13, 2011 at 10:30 am

hahah! i’m pretty sure you will never find my nana, or myself, hunting

  31. Danielle on March 13, 2011 at 7:21 am

Hair looks beautiful! Can you explain a little about why Lent has been “ineffective”? What was the goal behind giving up Almond Butter? And not other nut butters? Is it a religious goal or just a personal/diet goal?

    • Fitnessista on March 13, 2011 at 10:30 am

i was supposed to be a religious thing (give up something you love for 40 days), but i’ve just replaced almond butter with cashew butter. maybe i need to cut out all nut butter? :/

  32. Katie on March 13, 2011 at 7:41 am

Love the hair! The keratin is the best! Thats what I roll with for my crazy hair ; ) lol

Good luck today house hunting!!!!! Im excited as ever for you girl! Hope your weekend has been wonderful!

    xoxo <3

  33. michele on March 13, 2011 at 8:19 am

love your hair. Color is beautiful! What do you color your hair with? Just curious what other health conscious people use b/c I need to start covering some grays and have been very apprehensive.

    • Fitnessista on March 13, 2011 at 10:29 am

i can’t remember which color line the madre used on me yesterday. if you’re apprehensive about the chemicals, aveda is a good way to go

  34. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on March 13, 2011 at 9:05 am

Your hair looks gorg! So sleek and shiny! 😀 I badly need a hair cut but I honestly haven’t been able to find the time for it!

      aww thanks girl 🙂

  38. jennifer on March 13, 2011 at 10:36 am

Your hair is so beautiful! I have thought about getting a keratin treatment but its hard to find a place in my area that offers it. The black bean spaghetti looks so yummy. I haven’t seen anything like that around here, I may have to look online or something because I would love to try it!

  39. Julie on March 13, 2011 at 11:04 am

ooooh…keratin treatment…can you give some deets on it? like how often you do it, what it entails, all that jazz…
I have wavy/curly/frizzy hair and that would be something I’d love to do for the summer so I don’t need to iron it every day or use tons of product to make it curly and less frizzy.

  40. Ashley @ the fit academic on March 13, 2011 at 11:05 am

What happened to that one house you loved? Did it fall through or you’re just still lookin around?

    • Fitnessista on March 13, 2011 at 11:15 am

the pilot wants to explore all of our options before we decide. i know for sure that i want THAT house though 🙂

  41. Sara K on March 13, 2011 at 11:11 am

Love the hair!!! Keratin treatment is by far the best thing to happen to my hair 😉 Oh and those waffles are adorable!

    Hi Gina,
Your hair looks lovely. BTW, loved the house u showed us last week.
Didn’t u just get the keratin treatment last month. Aren’t they supposed to hold up for 3-5 months?. So why another one so early on? I’m just curious because i was thinking about getting one for myself and wanted some reliable to source to give reviews on it. Could u pls do a post about it. Thanks!!
