After lots of driving… ok, so I was just navigating, with eyes closed and mouth open…. it’s good to be back 🙂

I actually managed to stay awake for most of the ride, since I feel bad crashing while the Pilot is driving- he always stays awake to hang out with me if I’m driving. We’ll chat about every random thing under the sun (Santa Claus, how I wished they made non-alcoholic wine… and he reminded me of the existence and abundance of grape juice, Jay-Z, how much we love living near family, etc), which is why I love roadtrips so much. It’s nice to be able to catch up with each other and just hang out, especially since his work schedule is very intense.

Before we got on the road, we had one last San Diego breakfast feast at The Cottage, another fabulous blog recommendation.

the cottage

You guys are good- it was pretty incredible.

Juice for him:

juice

Soy hot cocoa for me:

me

[They didn’t have almond milk, but I’m definitely on a hot cocoa kick. I blame Cups for this]

and the Pilot enjoyed an entire coffee cake with his breakfast scramble:

coffee cake

and I happily munched an egg scramble with chicken sausage, mushrooms, spinach, onions and potatoes

eggs

Hit the spot.

While we were driving, I choreographed a new Zumba song for tomorrow and am so excited to get back to work and teach again- I took today off for our little vacay.

My arms are definitely sore from the last two days of vinyasa- I did more chatarungas in the past two days than I have in the past 8 months. It’s a good kind of sore, and just the motivation I needed to get back into yoga from now on. It’s funny because we have classes at the resort (AMAZING classes) and I’ve only taken one. Maybe time to explore that a little bit more…..

But for now, it’s time to tackle laundry mountain.

See ya in the morning! <3

xoxo

Gina

Non-Alcoholic wine exists! A recent discovery since I am pregnant as well. The brand I found is called Fre and can be bought at the local liquor store. Hope you find some! 🙂

    • Lauren on November 16, 2011 at 11:43 pm

I have also found Fre at our local grocery store…if your store sells wine, etc. 🙂

      • Fitnessista on November 16, 2011 at 11:44 pm

you have no idea how excited i am right now, haha

      • JennP on November 17, 2011 at 9:14 am

My sis-in-law and I were pregnant together, so at a couple of different family dinners, we would have a glass of Fre. I am normally a red drinker, but I found the white more palatable.

As an added bonus, I think it clocks in around 40 or 50 cals for a 6oz glass (better than regular wine or grape juice).

Welcome home! I am glad that you arrived safe and sound. I find that taking class is such a must for me in my yoga practice. I do not seem to posses the diligence to get myself to the mat with creative sequences if I try to go it alone. Making certain classes “my” classes that I always go to, so that it is routine, is a must for me! In class today we worked on one legged crow posture, something that I never would have thought to attempt on my own, totally worth it!! If you ever decided to road trip it to Vancouver, there are a million amazing classes I would love to take you to! Much love.

Non-alcoholic wine: http://www.frewines.com/ I have zero clue if it’s decent or not, but I remember hearing about it a couple years ago! Let me know if you try it!

I think R and I need to go on a road trip for the convo. I was just telling him tonight that I feel like we’re so busy that our daily conversations consist of, “what time do you get home today? What’s for dinner? When are you going to bed?” We’re so lame! Must put an end to this!!

    Miss you!

Oh, the Cottage. . . it’s been too long. Glad you had a good trip!

I love that you choreograph Zumba in the car. I used to be a dance teacher, and my husband would always look at me funny when I’d tell him I was choreographing routines….sitting on the couch! Hehe

  8. Danna on November 16, 2011 at 11:40 pm

Yay! You went to The Cottage. I am salivating thinking about that coffee cake…

  9. Smylee on November 16, 2011 at 11:42 pm

    Wow…I want that house! 🙂

  10. Ginger on November 17, 2011 at 12:23 am

I had the occasional glass of wine while preg and didn’t beat myself up about it. Tried an upscale non-alc beer and it was HORRIBLE! Ha.
So glad y’all had a good trip and got to chat a lot 🙂 My daughter was sleeping 12 hrs/nite when we went on a beach vacay at 6 mos, and the combo of our first family vacay PLUS being able to relax and listen to the waves after she went to sleep w/hubby was so amazing. Y’all should plan another trip for late summer!

  11. Kalynn on November 17, 2011 at 12:24 am

WOW that coffee cake looks delicious! I love my grannie’s coffee cake, and might just have to request that she make one soon because I’ll probably be dreaming of it now 🙂 Your trip sounded amazing and makes me wish I would’ve had more time to explore San Diego when I was there briefly a few years ago!

  12. J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) on November 17, 2011 at 12:47 am

Very beautiful picture of your living room, upstairs, and dining room! Love it. 🙂 It’s always nice to return home, but then we do it all over again soon after we say that. haha

It must have been so good to see Bella! I hope how excited my dog gets when I’ve been gone for awhile (which could be 5 minutes for all he cares).

  14. Kristin on November 17, 2011 at 2:18 am

The Cottage is amazeballs – we went there on our last trip to SD and LOVED it!! You and the Pilot are so adorable…I’m so happy you had such a fun babymoon!!!

  15. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on November 17, 2011 at 4:50 am

The Cottage rocks. You cannot go wrong with that place. The last time I was there….Skylar was a tiny baby….time flies. Need to get back there.

Glad you two made it home, safe and sound!

  19. Emilina on November 17, 2011 at 7:43 am

Totally random, but what nail polish are you wearing in the hot cocoa pic? I like it a lot!

  20. Sarah on November 17, 2011 at 7:43 am

I’ve actually heard *really* good things about those!

  21. Jessica on November 17, 2011 at 7:51 am

I am so glad you had an awesome trip :)! What color nail polish do you have on in the pic with the soy hot cocoa, the color is so pretty.

I love how no matter where you travel, there always seems to be another blogger or reader with great suggestions for activities and food there. It’s such a great perk of blogging! 😀

The Cottage looks awesome! And the weather there? Beautiful. I love dining al fresco. 🙂

  26. Hayley on November 17, 2011 at 8:49 am

Hi Gina! Are you not vegetarian? I didn’t know you ate meat? Is this due to pregnancy? I am just curious–I am a omnivore and eat meat so I am NOT judging or scrutinizing you in anyway 🙂 Just curious if you have to change your diet and eat meat since you are pregnant? Does it provide extra nutrition?

    • Fitnessista on November 17, 2011 at 9:16 am

      hey girl,
no i started eating poultry again last january (i’ve always consumed fish). the extra protein has really helped with my energy levels and makes getting the required protein for pregnancy a little easier for me. i don’t depend on it and will usually have it once or twice a week max.

  27. Melissa Autry on November 17, 2011 at 8:52 am

Just wondering with all the Zumba you teach, are you having a problem with your bladder? I know when I did any kind of jumping I found I peed a little! Lol! You look great by the way!

    • Fitnessista on November 17, 2011 at 9:14 am

      haha thank you!
nope, no probs so far (knock on wood). i’ll go right before class and i’m fine until class is over

I think I’ve been to the Cottage!! Is it in La Jolla?? If it’s the place i’m thinking of, then yes- it IS delicious, and with a pretty view.

As someone not so gifted in the dancing department, I’m super impressed you choreographed for Zumba in the car, in your head!

  30. Stephanie on November 17, 2011 at 9:32 am

The Cottage is amazing!! I have pictures of the stuffed french toast and California omelet in my phone and pull it up just to dream.

  33. Morgan on November 17, 2011 at 10:24 am

Love The Cottage! We have 2 in the Boston area. Their fish tacos and granola crusted mahi mahi are amazing (and you could definitely make the mahi at home. it seems like something you would like :))

  34. Tracey on November 17, 2011 at 10:42 am

We loved the Cottage last time we were in San Diego. It was such a nice little surprise on the day you went to La Jolla. I’m so glad you enjoyed yourselves. San Diego is such a fun place to visit.

  35. Heather @ For the Love of Kale on November 17, 2011 at 10:52 am

That coffee cake is gigantic! Lucky Pilot. Glad you’re safe and sound in your beautiful home. 🙂

I really have been missing out on the yoga. I went to last Saturday’s class but one of my favorite instructors won’t be there until next year! Same for Tuesdays and the instructor taking over . . . isn’t quite what I like for my practice.

I have never been to the Cottage before! It looks cozy and yummy. I have to try it next time I’m in SD. 😀

Glad you’re home safe. Thought of you while at Zumba last night. I swear the guy next to me had better booty dips than me, lol.

    • Fitnessista on November 17, 2011 at 8:52 pm

      that is AWESOME

  37. SkinnyRunner on November 17, 2011 at 11:20 am

ive heard about the cottage, never been but heard that its awesome.
you could have some of that sparkling cider stuff that every store has out for christmas. we always drank that as kids in champagne flutes since we were being “fancy”.

  38. HRCK on November 17, 2011 at 11:58 am

Did I make this up, or does the Pilot have a HUGE thing for coffee cake? Do y’all frequently get it in Vegas? Again, could totally be my imagination. 🙂 Your breakfast looks delicious. I tried tofu scramble for the first time last weekend, and I was really surprised as how eggy it tasted.

    • Fitnessista on November 17, 2011 at 8:50 pm

hahah you did not make that up at all- he lives for coffee cake, and ate it many times in vegas

  39. Anna @ The Guiltless Life on November 17, 2011 at 12:19 pm

I looooove The Cottage! Had many a breakfast there when I was in college at UCSD. Such a pleasant little setting, and great food. Glad you had fun on your babymoon! (I went into labor on my own “babymoon”, so it wasn’t exactly the trip we expected, haha!)

  42. Christin@purplebirdblog on November 17, 2011 at 12:56 pm

Nonalcoholic wine exists, but it really is just glorified grape juice. It tastes like wine but completely lacks the bite.

  43. jen f. on November 17, 2011 at 1:27 pm

last time we ate at the cottage my baby was tiny! now…not so much 🙂 but it’s really cute and they have yummy food!
