Houdini would be proud

Heyyyy from Hotlanta! WE MADE IT 😀 Now we’re just chillin for a few hours until our plane leaves to Tucson!

us

(Pilot = seksi man)

Thank you again for all of the wonderful good travel vibes- looks like they worked beautifully 🙂

Yes, we brought this little furball with us.

bell

She looks innocent and sweet, but is actually a con artist. She managed to break the zipper on her pet carrier on the plane, so I held her in my lap for most of the flight while the pilot fixed the carrier. Little goof 😉

Even though it’s still really early, I had to munch breakfast before it got too mushy….

cookie

Looks nasty, tastes like heaven 😀
A GREEN breakfast cookie!!!

-1/2 cup oats

-1/2 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior

-1 T almond butter

-a smashed nanner

-Stevia

-1/2 t of spirulina (which gave it the lovely green tint! I added it because I have a feeling veggie intake will be low due to traveling)

-a lot of strange looks from people, as I devour the delicious breakfast treat 😉

We still have quite a while until we board our plane to Tucson, but I have lovely Boingo wireless to keep me busy, and some high-quality reading material

ok

Oh Kendra. Your laugh makes the world a better place 😀

To rewind a LOT to last night, I finally got my Indian feast!

The pilot and I met Jeni and her pilot for dinner, since we didn’t really feel like getting groceries and cooking 😉

I had something new…

SPICY SALMON

salmon

The obligatory roti:

roti

And some red…. for antioxidants 😀

glorious

A lovely meal with lovely company.

Workout-wise, I did 45 minutes on the revolving apparatus of death (RAD) alternating between hill walking, sprints and steady state. After we get into town, I have a dentist appointment (blech) and then I’m hoping to catch a Zumba class 😀

See ya in TUCSON!

xoxo,

Gina

I love reading those trashy gossip mags, too. Even though I knowwwwww they rot your brain, I will grab them first to read over mostly anything else. [Other than a fitness or cooking mag]

  15. mmclaughlin on January 8, 2010 at 9:57 am

I’m always curious about bringing my dogs on the plane… How big is Bella (weight-wise)? Does she lay down in her carrier the whole time (when she’s not breaking out of it)? 🙂

    • Fitnessista on January 8, 2010 at 10:40 pm

she weighs about 8 lbs and sleeps in her carrier for most of the time.. usually people don’t even know we have a dog with us

  16. K on January 8, 2010 at 10:05 am

  22. Anna on January 8, 2010 at 11:24 am

Hello! I don’t believe I’ve ever commented before but I live in Tucson (and am a fellow Wildcat 😉 yay U of A!). I love love love your blog and was wondering where you were planning on hitting up zumba this evening? My friends and I go to the downtown YMCA. The class is AMAZIIIING!

  23. miriam on January 8, 2010 at 11:32 am

Love the green mixture and the fact that people were starring! lol People are so “previsible”! I wish that you would have blinked at them while eating!! 😉

Something has been annoying me since yesterday, and I feel like you will understand my situation! I’m sick, but not bed sick (I’m at work now), I’m having a pharyngite/laryngite (it’s in french, but I am sure that it is very similar in english!). I am feeling ok but not great, like if I’m 80/100. Meaning I can still do my regular things but not go crazy over them. However, the doctor told me that I need to be quiet and no gym for a week, in order to heal. NO GYM for a week!! I miss it already! Nobody understand my annoyment there… But I feel like I am a little girl who wants a cookie but mommy says no… It happenned in the past that I dont train for a week or two, but there were reasons, like im away in africa, a school trip with no rest time. Beside that I am usually never sick for more than 2 days and even then, I will go to get a little sweat off! Am I pathetic (feel like it) lol!??

Have a good time in Tucson!

  24. Carolyn on January 8, 2010 at 11:33 am

Haha!! For a minute I thought you meant the pilot of the airplane you were on was fixing Bella’s carrier! LOL I was a bit confused to say the least.

  25. Nikki on January 8, 2010 at 11:41 am

How is it bringing Bella on the plane? Sounds like she can be out of her carrier in the airport and mid flight? Happy Travels!

  26. Sarah on January 8, 2010 at 11:41 am

So glad the travel is going better today. Have fun!

  27. Janna (Just Flourishing) on January 8, 2010 at 12:18 pm

You and the pilot are adorable as always. Love your faces 🙂

OMG Kendra HAHA. I used to be obsessed with watching the Girls Next Door. Ha!

Jealous of your Indian feast. Looks delish! I wish my BF liked Indian food.

    Glad your travels went smoothly!

  28. Megan on January 8, 2010 at 12:24 pm

Glad you made it safe to Tucson!

  29. Diana (Soap & Chocolate) on January 8, 2010 at 12:36 pm

I die for Kendra’s laugh. I think we should all strive to laugh like that, as if no one is thinking you sound like an animal. 🙂

  30. Shelly on January 8, 2010 at 1:21 pm

So what’s in her shake? I’m dying to know b/c it looks like corn flakes!

  31. jenna on January 8, 2010 at 3:38 pm

I hope you have a safe trip and enjoy lots of family time 🙂
your little con artist is so cute!

  32. Jessica (Fit and Clean) on January 8, 2010 at 3:55 pm

Glad you made it to the ATL. It can’t be too long of a flight from your home? The ATL airport was a mess when I brought my parents after Christmas…cop cars all over the place outside, and tons directing traffic. My parents said the inside was business as usual. Travel safe! Can’t believe people were staring at the cookie…well, actually, yes I can, LOL! People stare at what I eat ALL THE TIME! 🙂

  33. Katie on January 8, 2010 at 4:07 pm

Glad you guys made it safe and sound 🙂

Hehe love your green cooke! I made a breakfast cookie PARFAIT today. Pretty excellent.

STILL haven’t had Indian seafood… must!

  34. Katie O. @ Fit to Wed on January 8, 2010 at 4:11 pm

So glad your travels are working out! Does Bella travel well on the plane (aside from her escape artist tendencies, haha)? I’m nervous that my pup would whimper the whole time.

    • Fitnessista on January 8, 2010 at 10:37 pm

she sleeps pretty much the whole time!

  35. Steph on January 8, 2010 at 4:28 pm

Where do you get the Spirulina? What brand it it?

I want to make that breakfast cookie…looks great!
    THANKS!!

  36. Angela (The Lady Loves to Eat) on January 8, 2010 at 4:48 pm

ooh I love trashy mags! Your green breakfast cookie looks good! Have a safe trip!

  37. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on January 8, 2010 at 4:57 pm

just recently had 2 separate 4+ hr layovers in ATL. Those chairs look familiar. As in where I tried to have my child sleep who had been up for 18+ hrs. Me too, but that’s another story 🙂 GOD I hate that place 🙂 but i do support the Starbucks (multiple kiosks!) in full force when I’m there.

Hope youre in AZ by now!

  38. Heather @ Get Healthy With Heather on January 8, 2010 at 5:30 pm

Safe travels all the way, and good reads!

Spicy salmon looks delish! Glad u got something new girl 😉

  40. Leah on January 8, 2010 at 7:17 pm

I love trashy magazines. They always make me feel better if Ive had a crappy day.
I love that your dog is an escape artist!! So cute. My horse used to be the same way. I had to come up with tricks to keep everything locked.

  41. KRISTEN'S RAW on January 8, 2010 at 8:06 pm

    Tucson – SWEET!!!!!

  42. Rachel on January 8, 2010 at 8:40 pm

You can’t go wrong with celeb gossip for entertainment 😉 Better than real gossip any day of the week.

  43. Kelly Michelle on January 9, 2010 at 12:06 am

I second the above question. I keep meaning to ask what kind of Spirulina you use, I have been meaning to buy some forever.

    • Fitnessista on January 9, 2010 at 10:43 am

since i’m not at home, and didn’t bring it, i’ll make sure to post the brand when i get home 😀

      • Kelly Michelle on January 9, 2010 at 11:47 am

thanks. Also are you still using the MSM powder that you bought, haven’t heard you mention it. Have you experienced any benefit from it?

Readers Request Idea: superfoods you think are worth the money and those that aren’t, there are so many being touted right now, it is difficult to know what to purchase, also does it matter what brand you purchase and how can you be sure you are getting a quality and reputable product for your money

        • Fitnessista on January 9, 2010 at 12:29 pm

          hey kelly!
thanks for the reader’s request- love it!
i haven’t been using the msm powder lately, honestly just because i forgot about it. i saw it in the pantry and wanted to start using it again in my water when i got home. i think the reason why i haven’t been using it lately is because i haven’t been eating high raw since the weather got colder. i see myself getting back in the swing of all of that when the weather warms up 😀

  44. BroccoliHut on January 9, 2010 at 2:20 am

Totally diggin’ the Pilot’s bama shirt. Roll Tide, Roll!

  45. Jenny on January 9, 2010 at 11:15 am

Hope your travels went well–I’m catching up on posts!

  46. katie on January 10, 2010 at 11:21 am

So fun that Bella is going with you. I always want to take my chihuahua with me when I fly home (to Nashville) but its soooo expensive! Hope you’re having a super fabulous time with your family! PS: do you blog from your blackberry? I’d love to know how!!

    • Fitnessista on January 10, 2010 at 12:00 pm

yes it is super expensive! worth it though because whenever she stays at a kennel, she gets sick
i have no clue how to blog from the crackberry.. wish i did, though!
