How many girls does it take….

to find the Jacksonville Bikram studio?

3.

Except we didn’t find it… we got lost and went to Whole Foods instead. Never mind that 2 out of the 3 of us have GPS- we still got lost!!

Adventures 😀

How was everyone’s weekend??

Mine was bueno, but especially fabulous since I got to escape from Valdosta and head to Jacksonville with two friends yesterday.

I made Spice-C smoothies (the restaurant’s recipe) for the pilot, Ashley and I before we got on the road.

spice c

Fresh orange juice, goji berries, frozen pineapple, cayenne and foodgasms.

We picked up Jennie, then headed to Jax. Our first stop was the beloved Town Center, which has pretty much every store I could wish for.

We needed some shopping fuel, so before the extravaganza, we munched lunch at The Cheesecake Factory.

Bread basket:

bread

(I had two small-ish pieces of the wheaty bread)

And an AMAZING salad!

salad

That’s an appetizer salad.. their portions are ridiculous 🙂 I got the Vegetable Salad: Asparagus, Green Beans, Tomato, Cucumber, Roasted Beets, Apple, Edamame, Radicchio, Romaine and White Cheddar with Pomegranate Vinaigrette. Available with Chicken. (With goat cheese instead of cheddar and grilled salmon instead of chicken)

We shopped it up for a few hours –I did some serious Sephora damage- and then *tried* to go to Bikram. When we got lost, we just decided to hit up Whole Foods before coming back to V-town.

I got all of the necessary groceries –stay tuned for a reader’s request post this week on pantry essentials!- and Ashley and I had a snack in the cafe while Jennie finished up her shopping.

My favorite dal saag soup:

dal

and some of these super spicy chips:

chips

It was an awesome little day trip.. getting away from Valdosta feels so good 🙂

I came home to my pilot, crashed out, and then woke up bright and early for a pre-gym snack:

apple

Ashley and I did about 45 minutes of shoulders, chest and upper back and then I came home for the rest of my bfast:

cereal

Puffed brown rice with almond milk, banana and cinnamon

And PROTEIN:

egg

Little 2 egg white puff with Tabasco.

After my second bfast, we got the news that a family member of mine was in an accident late last night. I’m so, so, so thankful and happy he’s alive, but have been a little under a black cloud all morning and so sad about it. No news on what’s going to happen next, but he’s alive and will be ok. That’s all that matters.

I’ve been a baking (and un-baking) machine (pics to come) and am off to train a client before Pilates and Zumba.

See you tonight!

Gina

Something to do: Check out Week 2 of the Winter Shape Up if you haven’t done so already 🙂

Gina, honeybun! I am so sorry about your family member! I saw your tweet and hope everything was OK. Good to know he’s going to be alright.

On a much lighter note, it looks like you had a faaab Sunday! Cheesecake Factory has the best brown bread, right?

I just got some groceries and was thisclose to buying millet bread because of you! The $7 price tag stopped the poor college student, though 🙁

I wish you a good rest of Monday and plenty of prayers for the family member. xoxoxo

So sorry to hear about your relative but its definitely good to hear that he will be ok. I’ll be thinking about him!

On a lighter note, I have definitely been known to get lost going somewhere I’ve been to numerous times despite having a GPS and written directions. I have strengths, but navigation is DEFINITELY not one of them! Hehe. I’m glad you had a good day anyhow!

On another note mmmmmmmmm Cheesecake Factory, it’s one of the only chain restaurants I like and that actually has edible salmon, theirs is delicious!

    • Fitnessista on January 25, 2010 at 3:43 pm

haha i totally agree- the salmon is most definitely edible 🙂

Nooooo, so sorry to hear about the accident. 🙁 Fingers crossed for good news to come.

I’m not surprised you couldn’t find the yoga studio. They have a tendency to have stealth locations and tiny entrances on top of that. At least that’s the case in NYC! Now Whole Foods, that’s somewhere every girl worth her X chromosome has natural radar for. 🙂

  24. Katie on January 25, 2010 at 4:06 pm

Prayers to your family member that was hurt, Im glad he will be ok : )

The juice looks great!! Will have to make that!!!

  25. Kendel on January 25, 2010 at 4:09 pm

Glad to hear that your family member is doing well. News like that is bound to knock you off your feet. My prayers are with you!

Now as far as that delicious molasses wheat bread goes- you’ve got me drooling. I’m going to have to find a recipe!

  26. Heather McD (Heather Eats Almond Butter) on January 25, 2010 at 4:16 pm

    Gina,
So sorry about your family memeber’s accident, but happy to hear he’s okay. Still so scary when something like that happens. Always makes me want to hug all my family members.

Love your Gina-fied salad. I wish I could take you with me every time I go out to eat. I’d let you order first, and then I’ll just say “I’ll have what she’s having” 🙂

  27. Kirsten on January 25, 2010 at 4:24 pm

Sorry about your family members accident. I hope that they are doing okay!!

  28. Karyn on January 25, 2010 at 4:50 pm

i think gps is the devil! i don’t have one but every time one of my friends use theirs they still end up lost. nothing like a good old fashioned map haha (i feel like i’m 80 with my resistance to technology!)

  29. Janna (Just Flourishing) on January 25, 2010 at 4:51 pm

So sorry to hear about your family member. Glad they’re ok though!

SO sorry to hear about your family member! i swear there’s something in the air… my friend was in an accident yesterday and my pup is having back surgery today. it’s a whirlwind of yuckiness!!

cheesecake factory overwhelms me… i have to just decide i’m eating something out of a specific CHAPTER of the menu before i even go! haha

  31. Mama Pea on January 25, 2010 at 5:09 pm

I’ll pray that that little black cloud disappears and that your family member heals quickly. My mom used to say, “We need to let the oogies out!,” meaning all those fears and bad feelings. So if you need to cry, do wine yoga, go to Indian food…whatever it takes!

  32. K on January 25, 2010 at 5:36 pm

I love that you just went to WFs – it solves all of life’s problems! Those chips sound yummy! Spicy is always nice!!

I hope everything is alright with your family member – that sounds very scary.

  34. Gracie @ Girl Meets Health on January 25, 2010 at 7:48 pm

Prayers for your family member, for sure <3

I've been to the Cheesecake Factory a million times and never saw that salad! Maybe because my eyes were always fixated on the cheesecakes 😛 But that's such a great idea getting an appetizer. I often get their lettuce wraps appetizer for my meal. It is HUGE and so much fun to eat =)

  35. Mary (Food Fit & Fun) on January 25, 2010 at 7:49 pm

My sister and I both got lost trying to find a Bikram studio once too. We then went back a few days later and found it…we had kept driving RIGHT past it before. Sorry to hear about your family member…hope everything will be okay!
As soon as I saw that bread basket I knew you were at the cheesecake factory…I love that brown oatmeal bread. I agree, their portions are rediculous!

  36. Katie on January 25, 2010 at 8:13 pm

I’m so sorry about your family member… thank goodness he’s okay! I’ll keep him in mind.

  37. Island Girl Eats on January 25, 2010 at 8:13 pm

GPS’s aren’t always right. I remember one time we were in Miami and we put in the address for a post office. We ended up at a ‘crack house’! It was such a ghetto neighbourhood. My husband and I quickly locked the doors and hauled a$$ out of there! Thanks GPS!

So sorry to hear about your family member. I wish him a speedy recovery.

  38. Jessica @ The Process of Healing on January 25, 2010 at 8:21 pm

So sorry to hear about your family member but the important thing is that he will be ok! That is good news!

And about you getting lost.. yeah I manage to do the same, even with a GPS. I admit it, I have zero sense of direction. And that’s ok 🙂 At least you ended up at Whole Foods.. happy mistake!

  39. Rachel on January 25, 2010 at 8:24 pm

I never knew you could get something so delish looking at healthy at Cheesecake Factory…I have avoided that place like the plague!

So glad your relative is ok…praying for him!

  40. Jenna on January 25, 2010 at 8:38 pm

The Cheesecake Factory’s wheat (honey?) bread is a weak spot for me. Maybe one of my favorite breads of all time.

    • Fitnessista on January 25, 2010 at 8:43 pm

      me too.. SO AMAZING

  41. Brittany on January 25, 2010 at 9:49 pm

Whole Foods was a good replacement for the Bikram Yoga- just not as sweaty.

The Spice-C smoothies sound and look delicious!

  47. Michelle on January 26, 2010 at 1:54 pm

Hi there!! I’m sorry to hear about your family member. I sure hope everything turns out fine!

Just wanted to say I’m a huge supporter for goji berries!! I grew up in Hong Kong on Chinese medicine and herbal remedies. I’ve been drinking a shot of goji berry juice every morning and it’s been great to regulate the female cycle and hormones!! Keep incorporating it into your juices girl!! I’m just so happy to see ’em represented on such a popular blog like yours. 🙂

  48. Jaclyn on January 27, 2010 at 4:08 am

I love the salad you ordered–that’s my EXACT order at cheesecake, funny! gah its so hard not to order that though–goat cheese and salmon?? what more could you want ?! sometimes i go with shrimp though, their grilled prawns are also TDF.
    take care gina!

Your salad you got looks AMAZING! I’ve never been to a cheesecake factory but if I go I’d try that!!
