I ate, did eight, feel great

Hey everyone! Hope your weekend is winding down ok 😀

The pilot and I ran 8 miles today- our longest run together!

IMG00013-20100103-1413

We’ve both surpassed this distance on our own before, quite a few times, but something about doing it as a team was so FUN:)

Before leaving the casa, I had a chia bfast

chia

Protein chia pudding with almond milk, chia seeds, banana, Stevia, cinnamon, vanilla Sun Warrior protein, a little maca, and 1 T almond butter

I also had some of this….

coffee

COFFEE!

Ahhhhh! I haven’t had coffee in a few months because I was sick of being dependent on the caffeine. Well, if you follow me on Twitter then you know my motivation was lacking big-time this morning. Coffee did the trick! I think I’m still buzzing, haha 😉

We set out on the base trail and did a steady 8.

IMG00015-20100103-1416

8 is great!

IMG00014-20100103-1414

Running: the only time when you can get away with wearing three neutral colors at once. I was rocking grey, brown and black all at the same time 😉

The pilot stayed on base to do some work, while I hit up the commiscary, Wizzle, grabbed a quick and unpictured lunch, and trained a client.

After picking the pilot up, we decided on spinach and mushroom quiche for dinner.

I made the recipe up on the spot, but I will tell ya it had eggs, egg whites, spinach, mushrooms, almond milk, nutmeg, goat jack cheese, onion, garlic powder, sea salt, pepper and paprika.

I had a salad beast along side the quiche:

And the pilot had salad and couscous with his:

Not too shabby 😉

I’ll probably have another snack in a little while, because I am a hungry beast this evening 😀

We’re off to film the workout move of the week (it will be up tomorrow!) and then coming back to catch the superchef battle, which FoodNetwork crush, Bobby Flay (aka B Flizzle) is competing in 🙂 Then, for intellectual stimulation, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

See ya in the morning!

xoxo,

G$

Today’s tip: Turn to your friends or family for motivation. It was so hard for me to get dressed to run, when I knew that it was freezing outside. Twitter helped me get my booty moving this morning, especially since I knew that Tina and Kath would be running at the same time. I received a lot of encouraging tweets and the pilot reminded me of how good I would feel when it was over. He was right 😀

Congrats on going for a run today! Extra congrats on getting in 8 miles. Amazing! I have never been a runner, but you are inspiring. I wish it wasn’t -3 degrees here. I might have to give the treadmill a try.

  2. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is on January 3, 2010 at 8:10 pm

I never wear brown and black together either, except for workouts!

  3. Jessica (Fit and Clean) on January 3, 2010 at 8:26 pm

Mostly, I just wear black (it’s supposed to be slimming, LOL)! Good run..I always feel better after exercising and running. ALWAYS! That’s what gives me the motivation to work out day in and day out 😉

Great run! Yes, you can get away with a lot when running… especially winter running! Some of my outfits have been pretty amazing. LOL

My mom definitely motivates me! She is also training for the Boston marathon, so when I hear about her long runs it gets me going! For a 65 year old she can put a lot people to shame, including myself, with how motivated she is.

kudos on the 8miler, in relation to running I have a ? about muscle soreness-cramps. I’m having trouble running like I used to- not sure if its muscle cramp(lack of water/potassium) or something more serious- ligament or tendon problem. how do you usually help your clients with injury concerns?
really bummed if its something more serious 🙁

    • Fitnessista on January 3, 2010 at 8:45 pm

it’s kind of hard to say online because with clients i can ask them exactly what kind of pain it is and play around to see what triggers it. if it’s true PAIN (and not just soreness or crampng) definitely go see a doc. try upping your water intake and potassium on workout days as well, try some chia seeds for joint lubrication, but if it doesn’t get better, seek some medical help fo sho 😉

      • maris on January 4, 2010 at 4:20 pm

thanx for the insight, tried to increase the water- seemed to help a little. It’s frustrating because I’d like to start training for a race but I am apprehensive. I appreciate all your advice, love the blog!

  8. Gina G on January 3, 2010 at 8:36 pm

i watch the wild kardashians too, its the simple things in life that make us happy, right? hahah

wait to go today Gina, i love your positivity and that you are so open with your struggles, we all need a good push sometimes, no harm done! your an amazing person Gina!

Great job on the run! I think all fashion rules go out the window when exercising – especially if it’s chilly outside!

  10. Rose on January 3, 2010 at 8:38 pm

Great job on the run with your man! And delicious dinner. I’ll have to give that a try 🙂

  11. Lily @ Lily's Health Pad on January 3, 2010 at 8:38 pm

According to Stacy and Clinton…ALL neutrals can be worn together! Sometimes I’m not so sure about black and brown though.

  12. Erica on January 3, 2010 at 8:48 pm

Sorry for being a bad commenter! This past week ended up being a little crazy. SO fun that ya’ll ran so far together- love it. Adorable pictures. Dinner looks so yummy- I need to start adding more delicious eggs into my life. Hope you have a good Monday

  14. Danielle (Coffee Run) on January 3, 2010 at 9:27 pm

Good job on the run 😀
I’m def. not fashionable when I run, I’m usually rocking 3 different un-coordinated colors.
I forgot the Kardashians were on tonight! <–guilty pleasure <3

  15. monicaonthego.com on January 3, 2010 at 9:52 pm

Good job on the run. I wish it was warm enough here to run in capris! It was -1 windshield in good old cleveland today.

    • Fitnessista on January 3, 2010 at 10:07 pm

hahah it’s not warm enough for capris here, either. i need some full length running tights! i would DIE in -1 though… ay ay ay!

  16. Hangry Pants on January 3, 2010 at 9:55 pm

Neutral colors – LOL – and very true for me. Although, usually i have an odd color shirt on.

  17. Laura (On the Threshold of Greatness) on January 3, 2010 at 9:58 pm

Keeping Up with the Kardashians is one of my guilty pleasures. 🙂 I’m especially looking forward to it after this craptastic episode of Desperate Housewives!

  21. Morgan @ Healthy Happy Place on January 3, 2010 at 10:21 pm

I’m jealous that your hubby will work out with you. I’ve been trying for years to get my Fiance to exercise with me to no avail!

  22. Susan L on January 3, 2010 at 10:28 pm

when you eat something before a run, like the chia pudding today, how soon before running do you eat? I don’t drive to go walking, so I start right out the door. Can I have food right before?

Love the blog! You’re an inspiration.

    • Fitnessista on January 3, 2010 at 11:07 pm

if it doesn’t upset your stomach, definitely have something before you run.
i usually have to wait a couple of hours after a meal before i can work out. like today, i had the pudding at 10 and ran at 12:45

  23. Lauren H. on January 3, 2010 at 10:44 pm

I’ve been reading your blog but I haven’t posted anything yet…until now. I saw your picture of your on-the-spot quiche and started drooling. I decided to make my own immediately! It’s in the oven right now.
I love your blog and your healthy lifestyle is such an inspiration. Thank you!
    -Lauren

  30. K on January 4, 2010 at 9:43 am

    CONGRATS with the 8 miler!!

I am so jealous of that coffee mug it’s rediculous. If it goes missing, don’t look for it in MI 😉

  31. LindsayRuns on January 4, 2010 at 11:39 am

I am all about being a rainbow on runs…all my running clothes are sherbert colored it seems! Great run!

  32. Caitlin on January 4, 2010 at 12:06 pm

Hi! Whats the deal with Almond butter? I am new to this blog world and I see that so many people are a fan and eat it everyday…I think I am missing out! Is it like peanut butter just healthier? Oh so curious

  36. Katie on January 5, 2010 at 6:54 am

Congratulations! You guys are so fast! I love running with my boy.

Your quiches always look SO good. I made one of your crustless ones a few months ago for a graduation party!

  37. Brigid on January 5, 2010 at 10:35 am

Seeing a quiche like that makes me miss eggs sometimes. What kind of dressing did you use on that salad? It looks tasty.

    • Fitnessista on January 5, 2010 at 11:05 am

i use annie’s goddess dressing- my fave 😀
