In between-er

What’s this?! A fashion post!

Wow, it’s been quite a while since I’ve done one of these. At first, it was more of a “here’s what I like” page, that turned into a “here’s what I wore” page that came to a standstill as it got more and more challenging to dress myself. Some women manage to pull it off beautifully, but I just felt awkward most of the time and stuck to my trusty lululemon. It’s been a little bit of a hiatus over here on the lonely fashion page, but I’ve always planned on bringing it back in a different way- focusing on the new-to-me and homemade beauty products I love, shopping finds and things I’m loving and venturing into thrifting and DIYs with my future sis-in-law, Meg.

That’s the fun thing about blogging… things can (and should!) evolve as time goes on 🙂

It’s also in between-er as far as shopping goes- this has always been my least favorite time of the year for clothes shopping. Stores tease and tempt with amazing spring and summer styles, but it’s way too cold to wear them, but not enough time left in winter to invest in cold-weather gear. It’s warming up over here (!) and here are some of the things I’ve loving for spring:

Printed and colored denim

Circle skirts and dresses

Bright flats

Of course, every spring stripes come out to play. Stripes aren’t my fave, and no matter how good I *think* they look, I’ll see a picture and… blah. I do like this sweater from Ann Taylor that Jessica Alba has:

Are you a stripes fan, or notsomuch?

What piece or style are you loving for spring?

I’m all about the bright flats—I just bought a yellow pair last weekend!

According to the stores, it’s gonna be a BRIGHT spring…. like someone fell in the painter’s palette… 😉

I love stripes–I own way too many striped pieces.

Also, if you think the spring teasing is rough in AZ, imagine being in the upper Midwest where you can buy it now and wait… and wait some more until about late April when you might be able to make it work.

Don’t come up to Canada or you’ll be waiting until June!

I love that blue J Crew dress! And I’m a fan of stripes! I think they can actually be pretty slimming. I prefer thinner stripes though.

I like some stripes! It totally depends on the style of the shirt, etc. I am LOVING the colored denim for this spring!

I love stripes, but the thick chunky ones that are out this spring look terrible on me. I like it when the stripe are angled so it looks more interesting and less boxy.

I hate the in-between, too, especially here in CO where it’s DEFINITELY too cold to wear half the stuff I just bought over the past couple of weeks. I used to hate stripes on me because I thought it made me look wide (plus with all of these cropped tops that are everywhere), but I really love them now. I actually had to make a mental note to stop buying them for awhile because I kept snagging them in different colors lol.

I think the colored denim is so cute! I like stripes and actually picked up 2 flowly stripe types at Old Navy to layer with a tank underneath. I’m a huge fan of all the pastel (easter) colors right now too!

I own a lot of stripes, probably because there’s so much out there. I keep noticing lots of stripes, bright/neon colors, and complimentary color combos–especially blue and orange. The bright colors totally have me jonesing for spring!

I sometimes like stripes on other people – but then I put it on and it always looks a little weird. I don’t have much of a “shape” up top (if you know what I mean 🙂 ) so they make me look even more flat.

LOVE that seashell bracelet! So cool!

I am totally digging the colored denim, im not sure I can pull it off but am gonna try!!!

I’m not really a fan of stripes on me, I don’t think I look good in them but on other people, they can be so cute.

I love the yellow outfit/first pic…I love yellow!

one of my fave stores, hands down 🙂

I actually am a big stripes fan. I don’t really seek them out, but thinking about my wardrobe, I have a lot of short-sleeved and long-sleeved tees with stripes. I do actually seek out one kind – blue and white stripes. If it has blue and white stripes, chances are, I’ll like it 🙂 For spring, I just get excited about skirts, dresses, and wedge sandals, I’m also excited about some cuffed denim shorts I just bought. I love that navy blue dress from J. Crew you posted – sooo cute!

Yesterday was my birthday, so I’ve been shopping a bunch in the last two days… I got a pair of red skinnys, and I also picked up quite a few striped tops and sweaters. I’m loving the stripes trend!

love all of those outfits – especially the blue lace dress from j crew & the ann taylor striped sweater!
i’m loving pastels for the spring 🙂 but i agree, it’s too soon to buy spring clothes.. especially since it snowed this week where i am!

  17. Joy on March 4, 2012 at 8:23 am

I love stripes and wear them pretty frequently – I feel like they make me look taller!
I’m craving a pair or shiny ballet flats (those 9 west may be the winner)

  18. Marci on March 4, 2012 at 9:07 am

Being pregnant makes me want to puke at stripes. I will never buy another striped shirt again. Love bright flats! Can’t wait to wear non-maternity clothes again. Soon!

I love the fashion page, glad to see it back! 🙂

I’m all about the cute flats right now. I’ve worn heels for so long, and I still do, but I’ve finally realized the comfort and cuteness that is flats!

  20. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on March 4, 2012 at 6:31 pm

I’m loving coloured jeans for spring too – I just bought a coral pair! 🙂

  21. britt on March 4, 2012 at 9:43 pm

i love the colored jeans but i’m not sure it’s something i can pull off. the denim dresses i can totally do, though. so glad the fashion posts are back!

i have that sweater!! Ann Taylor is my favorite store for tops and jackets. just ordered the leather one this morning:) wow, i haven’t shopped at ALDO since high school (a decade ago, eek) but those flats look cute.

  23. AstroCook on March 7, 2012 at 9:17 pm

YAY fashion page!! I kept checking for the return. =)

I usually don’t wear stripes, unless they’re on a button-down shirt or something. I don’t think I have a rule against them, specifically, but when I think about my wardrobe, I can’t really think of many stripey things.

I love those jeans with the subtle floral pattern. Sorta reminds me of faded florals from the 90s, except better. 😉

My new TOMS ballet flats 🙂
