it’s the beachin’ weekend

Hi! How’s your morning going?? Hope you had a wonderful and relaxing weekend! I did what all the party animals do: slept 11 hours Saturday night. Usually, I wake up before the fam to get as many things done as possible, but I decided to dedicate a morning to catch up on sleep, and it was everything.

Ob 1 of 1

We had some fun adventures this weekend. It was the Pilot’s first time in Old Town! If you haven’t been to San Diego, it’s definitely worth checking out. They have quite a few amazing Mexican restaurants -where they make the tortillas fresh in the windows- little artisan shops and historic sights. It always feels like a little taste of Tucson here. When Liv and I took my mom and nana, they loved checking out all of the little shops and the beautiful church.

On Friday night, we had a glorious Mexican feast:

Margarita

(the house margaritas are huuuuuge)

and grabbed ice cream afterwards.

Sundae

(Fridays mean banana splits the size of your head.)

At the dog beach

After I got home from Zumba Saturday morning, we decided to make Bella’s week and take her to the dog beach. We’ve taken both dogs before and quickly realized that Caro would be a-ok if she never returned. If she could, she would have buried herself in the sand. Poor girl was so afraid of the waves, water and sand, we didn’t want to traumatize her by taking her back. Bella, on the other hand, is a little water dog.

Bell at the dog beach

(We told her to smile and that’s what she did haha.)

We even took her off the leash for a while, and let her run free with the other dogs and splash in the waves. It’s a moment that I’ll remember for a long time. Bella is going to be 9 years old this winter, but you’re only as old as you feel, right? I’m convinced she’s still a puppy.

Dogbeach2

She was a little wet rat when we left, and after her bath, she slept the rest of the day.

Sunday was pancakes,

Pancake sunday

meal prep

Muffins 1 of 1 6

(banana almond muffins)

errands, and a trip to Mission to ride the carousel. All in all, a pretty great weekend. 🙂

I’d love to hear about your weekend adventures! Did you meal prep or do take any new fitness classes? What are you looking forward to the most for this week??

Have a lovely day and I’ll see ya later with the latest Stitch Fix.

xoxo

I love old town SD! Such a fun place to visit when I would go to see my sister when she lived there! Also, taking the dogs to the dog park is always so fun! I love seeing my little one still act like a puppy too!

Any tips for sleeping soundly? I can’t do it! Falling asleep and staying asleep is just si hard. I try to get to bed early but I had a terriblynight last night.

    • Fitnessista on November 24, 2014 at 7:58 am

usually by the time i go to bed, i am ZONKED, but for a while i was having trouble staying asleep. what is keeping you up? is it anxiety about what you have to do the next day? i have a to-do list on my nightstand and i write out EVERYTHING for the next day or things i’m worried about right before bed. and, this is weird but just go with it, i learned that if you wake up, take a HUGE inhale, and each time you exhale, think about something you’re thankful for. i learned that at mountain trek and it helped so much! drastically reducing caffeine intake helps too

      • Linda @ TheFitty on November 24, 2014 at 12:25 pm

Oh yes, I remember your trip to Mountain Trek! Yes, it is my huge to-do list and I can’t stop thinking about it; i calculate it to the very last detail.

      the food is SO good!

  19. Crystal on November 24, 2014 at 7:33 am

Seeing dogs run around at a dog beach is one of the best things ever…Bella looks like she agrees! What a great weekend…also, nothing sexier than a man making pancakes on a Sunday morning–I tell my husband that all the time in hopes that he’ll wake up before me and make breakfast. It usually works 😉

    • Fitnessista on November 24, 2014 at 7:54 am

      haha i love that!!

So jealous of the beach and ice cream weather! We hit a cold snap, now we’re having a warm snap right before 3-7″ of snow Wednesday night, just in time for the turkey trot the next morning! Can’t wait to see what you got from Stitch Fix!

    • Fitnessista on November 24, 2014 at 7:53 am

ahhhhhh!! are you doing the turkey trot?

      • Stephanie @ Whole Health Dork on November 24, 2014 at 9:03 am

Haha, well that’s the plan. I usually don’t run in the snow (safety reasons), but I’m hoping they’ll have the route cleaned up.

  22. Carrie (This Fit Chick) on November 24, 2014 at 7:58 am

What a fun weekend! love the pics and the ice cream looks delicious!

  23. Laura B @ FitMamaLove on November 24, 2014 at 8:18 am

How fun to live so close to the beach! We’re only a 1/2 hour drive away here in NorCal, but living as close as you do sure would be nice. My weekend was full of cranky, misbehaving kids, but at least there was a lot of good food involved! 🙂 And wine. Lots of wine!

  24. Sarah on November 24, 2014 at 8:32 am

margaritas and ice cream, that is my kind of night haha!

Poor Caro 🙁 my puppy was traumatized by water because he fell off the dock the day we got him. Slowly he is starting to come around and will at least get his feet wet.

  25. Lindsey @ Simply Lindsey on November 24, 2014 at 8:32 am

Looks like a fun weekend!! The highlight of our weekend was going to Cowfish, a burger & sushi restaurant in Charlotte. I got a bento box with a slider AND sushi! It was SO good!!

  26. Tracy on November 24, 2014 at 9:09 am

We had a wonderfully relaxing weekend that included margaritas, too! We also caught up on Scandal….we’re going to miss it ’til it returns late January!!

I’m looking forward to a fun family week full of thanks 🙂

Hi Gina! I can’t wait to see San Diego this week! I had a lovely weekend, taught some group fitness and took some group fitness too. I also went to a Justin Timberlake concert, woot! Hope you have a great Monday:)

  28. Kate @ SoCal Runner Gal on November 24, 2014 at 9:52 am

I love that you are so healthy and fit but also so balanced. I love seeing that you eat a banana split with the fam and enjoy pancakes (and margaritas). It’s so refreshing!

  29. Amy on November 24, 2014 at 11:57 am

Love love love hearing about San Diego, I want to vacation there:) soon!
This wknd was lounge-y, it’s cold in MN, so staying in is pretty normal–sad but true:)
I watched Love Actually with my fiancé, it was heaven—favorite guy and one of my top 5 movies ever! Had lunch with a pal and did some shopping for home. It was a sleep catch up wknd for us too:)

  30. Mya on November 24, 2014 at 12:51 pm

I meal prepped some breakfast sandwiches this weekend. My favorite grab-n-go breakfast meal. English muffins, baked eggs (in a whoopie pie pan is the best), bacon or turkey sausage patty, and guacamole & tomato. **DROOOOOOOOOOOOL**

  31. Amy on November 24, 2014 at 1:34 pm

I need the beach! It has snowed a foot here ha! I’m over winter already

  32. Kris | iheartwellness.com on November 24, 2014 at 1:55 pm

Ahhhh when we lived in Del Mar earlier this year I would be at the beach daily!! Now since being back in Vancouver, it’s soooo rainy and I miss the palms and sand!
