I’ve got the flour

Hey friends Smile Happy Monday! Hope your week is off to a great start.

Last night, I was still feeling a little out of sorts, so the Madre made me a hummus sandwich on brown rice bread. It was the only thing that sounded really good.

hummus sandwich

It was pretty much amazing. Hummus, tomatoes, cucumber, arugula and balsamic.

We hung out for a little while, and the family who is adopting Vies at the end of the month came to visit and play with her. She LOVES them. It definitely breaks my heart, but I know it’s going to be so much better this way <3

My brother wanted to go late-night shopping and since the stores didn’t close until 11 last night (crazy!) we hit up a few places.

In between stops, we got our sweet tooth fixes.

cocoa

A short soy no whip hot chocolate in a sad excuse for a snowman cup. Winking smile

We shopped it up –I bought a new foam roller since I accidentally left mine in Orlando- and came back to the casa for Four Christmases.

This morning, I was stoked to try out this stuff in my cereal:

peanut flour

Peanut flour! I’ve been seeing this around blogs forever, and even though almonds have replaced peanuts in my life for the most part, I thought I’d give it a whirl.

I mixed some in with 1/2 C uncooked oats, 1 scoop of Sun Warrior and 1 C almond milk, topped with cinnamon.

oats (2)

+ peppermint green tea

The peanut flour verdict? Not a huge fan. It tasted super peanutty and kinda bitter.

Maybe I just need to experiment and use it a different way. Any ideas??

Well I’m off to do the weights + spin thang and then coming back to the casa to create a new recipe I’ve had on the brain Smile

See ya later today!

xoxo

I just got Peanut Flour from a friend who leaves near a TJs a month or so ago. As others have mentioned, I think it’s great in smoothies, either with banana and almond milk and spinach or with cocoa powder added. I have also used it mixed with yogurt, and lots of people have already suggested adding a pinch of salt and maybe vanilla and sweetener. I don’t eat it like I would regular pb and I didn’t like it cooked in with oatbran. I also have thought about using it mixed with garlic, soy sauce and maybe a little sweetener and sesame oil, seems like it would be good Asian style. Good luck!

peanut flour a no go!?! it’s REALLY good in baked goods. i like mixing in a little honey or agave, too, for sweetness!

I would mix it with a pinch of sea salt, some vanilla and a wee bit of stevia. I actually don’t like peanut flour that much either, but I want to!

What if you thinned out the peanut flour with something else? Depending on your dish, you could blend it with different flours and spices for sweet or savory dishes. Someone’s probably posted this trick already, but it’s the first thing that came to mind.

Great eats and shopping that late is probably a great idea to skip the crowds. I’m still experimenting with peanut flour too, I’m determined to perfect a sweet chocolate peanut flat bread with it.

I usually add salt & maple syrup to my PB flour. Salt is key. Mmmmmmmm!

I love almond butter more than peanut butter too, but I bought the peanut flour at TJ’s and I have been on a baking machine using it to make peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. I got honest feedback from friends and they love the cookies.

You should try baking with it and see if you like it better with bake goods, or using it in no bake recipes for cookies.

P.S. I like Reese Witherspoon movies and she was funny in the Four Christmases movie. She has a new movie out or coming out soon, can’t wait to see her in it. I love romantic comedy movies

So, I just had to say that I swear that isn’t supposed to be a snowman on that cup. I work at the bux and one of the sizes (I’m pretty sure it’s the tall, but I can’t be sure while I’m snuggled up at home) really does have a snowman on it. He’s not all that adorable, but he’s more snowman-y than that guy. I believe those little people are supposed to be carolers. The graphics are kind of “meh” this year.

whoa good to know! carolers makes so much more sense. the graphics are totally meh this year
