Meet Goldie

Meet Goldie!

Goldie 1 of 1

(The moment was that exciting.)

Isn’t she a beauty?!

Goldie 1 of 1 2

I LOVED all of your name suggestions for our new home gym family member. Spinderella was a close second, but I just loved the ring that Goldie had to it (after Johnny Goldberg, the creator of the spin bike). I can’t wait to test her out later today after getting in some strength. We have dumbbells, a kettlebell (a 35 lb. but I’d love to slowly add to the collection) and a pull-up bar — pretty much all of the necessities for a great workout.

I’ve been scoping out these kettlebells. I think scary faces would make me lift and work a little harder 😉

Kettlebells

Last night, we went over to hang out at Kyle and Meg’s.

Grill

(Their awesome patio grill)

I had already made some chili,

Chili 1 of 1 6

(I’ve learned to mostly photograph chili from afar… not the most attractive food)

so I packed up the slow cooker and brought it with us + some cornbread muffins.

Cornbread muffins 1 of 1

Kyle grilled steak, chicken, baked potatoes, and Meg made some delicious veggies.

Grilling

Everything was amazing.

We also brought Bell, since she’s Luna’s first little fur friend. (She’s gentle and patient enough to let Luna pounce around her excitedly.)

Wluna

(and Livi is obsessed.. she wanted to wear her Luna shirt to go visit her.) They carved pumpkins after we left, but since it was late, we brought the princess home before she turned into a pumpkin. I think the Pilot and I will have our own little carving date later this week.. I always love to see what he comes up with (like last year’s!).

This morning, we’re off for the usual Tuesday adventures. I’m hoping to make a foam rolling video during naptime, too. I could definitely use it — my legs are a little sore after yesterday’s water run.

Hope you have an amazing day <3

xoxo

Gina

Time is going to pass no matter what, so spend that time going after your goals. Don’t look back a year from now to see yourself in the same spot! Remember that every little change makes a difference, so keep your head up and don’t give up <3 I’m cheering for you.

Something to talk about: Do you have funny names for your car, spin bike, or pet? Please share- I’d love to hear them! My car’s name is Betty. She’s a bit of a sassafras.

I like the name Goldie! 😉 Catchy. Our big lab puppy is named Frankie otherwise known as Frank the Tank lol because he’s quite the tank weighing in at almost 90 lbs.

  2. Jackie on October 22, 2013 at 11:01 am

I love that your cars name is Betty! That’s hilarious!

  3. Greta on October 22, 2013 at 11:07 am

Thank goodness you don’t now have a pumpkin for a daughter!
My car’s name is Ruby. She’s a subaru. Subeerubeee.

  4. Amanda on October 22, 2013 at 11:09 am

I have a norwich terrier named Vanilla!

  5. Sara @ LovingOnTheRun on October 22, 2013 at 11:12 am

Love Goldie!! I think it is the perfect name.

I am currently injured with a femoral stress fracture and have been spinning a lot more lately – what kinds of workouts do you do when you are by yourself on the spin bike? I can’t do a whole lot because I can’t put much force on my leg but sometimes it just gets SO boring!

  6. Naomi on October 22, 2013 at 11:14 am

My car’s name is Ophelia, and my husband’s car is Gladys. I love naming things haha. I am currently trying to come up with a name for my harp though. It’s a tough one.

  7. Sara J on October 22, 2013 at 11:16 am

Hi Gina! Quick mommy question. What time does Livi usually go to bed/wake up? Want to know what to expect once mine nears age 2 :).

    Thanks! Sara

    • Fitnessista on October 22, 2013 at 12:55 pm

      hi sara!
she usually goes to bed around 7:30-8 and will sleep from 7:30-8. the past few nights, she’s been going to bed LATE (like 9… yikes) so we’re trying to get back on track haha

      • Sara J on October 22, 2013 at 12:58 pm

Thanks for responding. That’s helpful! He currently is 7pm (sometimes even before, eek!). So looking forward to extending that out a bit.

  8. Whitney @ Little bit of everything on October 22, 2013 at 11:19 am

Love your new spin bike. We got one for our home gym and it was one of the best decisions we ever made. So nice to have a cardio option at home. Especially on days when you can’t get outside (which happens a lot during Oregon winters).

  9. Megan (The Lyons' Share) on October 22, 2013 at 11:21 am

She’s a beauty! I would love to have a spin bike – great way to get in a quick workout at home, and despite my love for running outside, I don’t love the treadmill. My car’s name is Sadie – cute, but not flashy, a little old-fashioned and not super trendy, but not way outdated :).

  10. Jen on October 22, 2013 at 11:25 am

My car’s name is Ellenore. I have no idea where I got that from, but hey, it works!

  11. Olivia at ohmy Olivia on October 22, 2013 at 11:28 am

Those kettlebells are so cool! xo

  12. Colleen on October 22, 2013 at 11:28 am

I played clarinet and bass clarinet in elementary school, and I named them Woody and Big Woody. I was so innocent….

    • Emily on October 22, 2013 at 12:32 pm

      Giggled out loud.

  13. Sam @ Better With Sprinkles on October 22, 2013 at 11:36 am

I think cars and bikes of any kind just require names 😉 I named my bike Queen Cersei!

  14. Captain Competition on October 22, 2013 at 11:38 am

Spin bike looks great and it looks like one of the nicer ones. Our gym has a few of those for classes and I am a fan.

  15. Britt on October 22, 2013 at 11:52 am

My car’s name is Becca. I share it with my brother so I can’t tell him what her name is or else he would think I am crazy!!!!!!! I don’t need to give my big bro anymore amo to make fun of me! But Becca it is! Well, Becca is her official name and her middle name is DANG-I-NEED-GAS

  16. Kayla on October 22, 2013 at 12:08 pm

I love that you named your spin bike!

  17. Haley @Cupcakes and Sunshine on October 22, 2013 at 12:21 pm

The Luna shirt is adorable. So stinkin’ cute. I can’t even take it. And Goldie…how wonderful.

  18. Mellissa on October 22, 2013 at 12:26 pm

My husband’s has a beater car for the winter so he doesn’t have to drive his big truck. We refer to it as The Beast. It’s better than driving a diesel truck everywhere, but that car is UGLY.

  19. Emily on October 22, 2013 at 12:36 pm

LOVE those kettlebells! I’d feel like such a BA swinging those around lol.

I signed up for a year of Pure Barre classes today (after completing my first month) and I’m so excited!

My car doesn’t have a name, but my dogs’ names are Peaches and Nitro. The only reason I think that’s funny is that my Peaches is a pit. Yes, I have a pitbull named Peaches. (And she’s the sweetest thing you’ve ever met 🙂 )

  20. FitBritt@MyOwnBalance on October 22, 2013 at 12:40 pm

In my family we name our car GPS voices. My mom’s is named Dolly (because it rhymes with her name, Holly) and then when we got our car we wanted to keep it in the family so we named ours Dotty. Dotty is not well liked by me. She will only recognize things my husband says, not me. Seems sexist or maybe she just has a crush on him…

    • Britt on October 22, 2013 at 1:05 pm

My dad’s GPS voice was named Michelle! Mine is named Ann. I thought we were the only family who did that!! We are not alone!

  21. Julie @ Better Life with Burgers on October 22, 2013 at 12:40 pm

I used to have a VW Beetle named Petunia. She was adorable. My husband’s car is Aurora. We got a new car but still haven’t named it…how do you name an SUV? It just doesn’t seem the same as naming a cute little car. 🙂

    • Katie on October 22, 2013 at 2:05 pm

Our friends had a red Suburban they named Clifford (the big red dog). 🙂 What color is your SUV? 🙂

  22. Jacquelyn @justjacq on October 22, 2013 at 12:43 pm

My car’s name is Zelda! She’s a 2013 Ford Focus. Former cars are Helen the Toyota corolla and Judy the Kia Sportage. I miss Judy.

  23. Leigh @ beach and back runner on October 22, 2013 at 12:52 pm

My old car was the volv… A Volvo. My new car never got onen

  24. Livi on October 22, 2013 at 12:59 pm

My car was ‘born’ this summer on the same day as the royal baby- so I affectionately call him George Alexander Louis!

  25. Racheal @ Running with Racheal on October 22, 2013 at 1:06 pm

    Congrats on your new purchase!

Corn muffin recipe? Love the quote!

  26. Anna @ Fitness à la Anna on October 22, 2013 at 1:12 pm

My old car’s name was Bertha and my bike is named Harold 🙂

  27. Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs on October 22, 2013 at 1:35 pm

Oh man, that outdoor grill is amazing! I’d love to have something like that! And the food looks amazing of course 🙂

Luna looks so cute! I’m a sucker for puppies 🙂

  28. Nicole on October 22, 2013 at 1:51 pm

You’re making me want chili and corn bread!

Love that quote! So flipping true, just need to continue working toward what you really want most!

  29. Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona on October 22, 2013 at 1:57 pm

My car is named Baby Bing. In an episode of the Soprano’s the FBI was placing a bug in Tony’s house. They were doing surveillance on all the family members to make sure they’d all be out of the house at the same time. The code name they gave to AJ was Baby Bing.

  30. Katie on October 22, 2013 at 2:03 pm

My old Jetta was nicknamed “Jetta Jameson.” My boyfriend got a kick out of that one! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on October 22, 2013 at 2:39 pm

      ha, i love it!

  31. Yvonne Jones on October 22, 2013 at 2:05 pm

Oh yes please! A Foam rolling video!! That thing intimidates me! My motorcycle is named Vixen 🙂 I haven’t named my SUV. In high school my first car was a teal minivan (sexy) and my teammates named her Big Teal Titty..

  32. Ashley V on October 22, 2013 at 2:18 pm

In high school I shared a car with my sister, and I named it Leroy. I then got my own car and named it Stanley. Sadly, Stanley was totaled about a year ago, but my new one is Chester. I think the obvious theme is nerd.

  33. Fit Missy on October 22, 2013 at 2:22 pm

    Scary kettle-bells!

  34. Jay on October 22, 2013 at 2:33 pm

LOVE the dog shirt to visit the dog. TOO cute. My car’s name is Millie. She’s small and preppy!

  35. Crystal@TheFastFitRunner on October 22, 2013 at 2:41 pm

    What a great name!

  36. Taylor @ Single-tracked Mind on October 22, 2013 at 2:54 pm

Love the kettlebells’ scary faces! As Tyra would say, Fierce!

  37. Lauren @ Focused To Be Fit on October 22, 2013 at 2:56 pm

OMGosh, Spinderella is amazing, that’s hilarious!! I’d love to own some kettlebells. I have just recently gotten hip to using them and now I’m addicted. The monkey face ones are creepy!

  38. Elizabeth on October 22, 2013 at 3:16 pm

My car is named Mrs. Norbury, after Tina Fey’s character in Mean Girls (my favorite movie). My old car was Lola, she was a show girl. My dog is named Snoopy Milton and answers to any combination of the two. I’m glad to see that so many people name their cars, I thought it was just me!

  39. april on October 22, 2013 at 3:18 pm

i love the name goldie for your spin bike! i have a vw golf that i named eeyore because he’s gray-blueish, just like eeyore. 😉

  40. Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy on October 22, 2013 at 3:40 pm

I’m jealous! That’s the same type of spin bike that we have at my gym, I love it!

  41. Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves on October 22, 2013 at 3:55 pm

Very cool! My family calls our GPS “Sasha,” like Raven’s dad did in that show “That’s So Raven.” All our friends and relatives are a little weirded out at first, but then they catch on 😉

  42. Annette @ FitnessPerks on October 22, 2013 at 4:18 pm

That is a fun name for your spin bike! Congrats on the bike! I actually don’t name stuff…..that would be fun to do it though!

  43. Shaina Anderson on October 22, 2013 at 5:06 pm

I think once we have the room, I’d like to add a StairMaster to our home gym. I need to get a bosu too!

Congrats on your spin bike. So fun! And I can’t handle all the adorable pictures of Liv and the puppies. Too. Cute.

  44. Holli on October 22, 2013 at 5:58 pm

Great post! I have really missed your “something to think” posts. You always have the best! 🙂

  45. Jess @ Just Call Me Janks on October 22, 2013 at 8:56 pm

My whole family has named for our cars! Love that other people do that, too. My car is Norman. He’s a navy Nissan. When I told the salesman that I had a name picked out for my car, he laughed at me! Enjoy your new toy 🙂

  46. Kathy on October 22, 2013 at 11:09 pm

My car was named Clark after a hockey player who played for our team (Go Leafs Go!) It seemed fitting as his name was Clark Mc”Car”thur, but since he’s been traded to a rival team, my car is now “the car”. Sad
    Enjoy the spin bike!

  47. Emily on October 22, 2013 at 11:45 pm

I don’t name my cars, but my sister does. The names seem innocuous enough until you learn the story behind them, then they’re hilarious. She had an old white car named Rita, after a Rita Rudner routine, “I have a white car”. Now she drives a Yaris named Steve after Pirate Steve in “Dodgeball”. Get it? YAR-ris. Okay, so we have a dumb sense of humor.

  48. Tessa on October 23, 2013 at 9:59 am

Hi! I read your blog on the reg, but just wanted to say an extra thank you today for the words about reaching your goals. I am in the middle of applying to internships to finish my clinical psychology phd and it is discouraging/hard/overwhelming etc etc. Reading your words, as silly as it sounds, gave me a little extra boost this morning. Thanks for everything!

  49. Lauren C on October 23, 2013 at 10:47 am

My Volvo is named “Whistling Dixie”… I live in Connecticut and when the temps get really low and the car sits outside for a bit the steering wheel makes a whistling sound when you turn it. My first car was Mia, named after a Hooter’s waitress lol

  50. Jenny on October 23, 2013 at 2:59 pm

congrats on the bike!! It is so nice to have things at home for a quick workout. I love those kettle balls! The howler is my favorite! And thanks for the quote at the end–dealing with an injury right now has left me a bit impatient, so reading that reminds me to take my time to heal and return when I am ready.
