More of a good thing

Hey! How are you guys?? I’m doing bueno over here. So much laundry and boo for unpacking! The only woes of vacation 😉

I karate-kicked my inbox for a while

meee

And had a breakfast I haven’t had in far too long… cereal!

tjscereal

Fiberlicious.

That is my all-time favorite cereal from Trader Joe’s.. it’s so good with almond milk, banana and goji berries

cereal

I had two servings, since they’re only 80 cals each.

With an egg white puff covered in red chili flakes:

egg

Delish.

I started on the laundry pile, heated up the yoga room (it’s waiting for me!), did some work on the computer, and then had a snack.

smoothie

A glorious sludge with almond milk, Sun Warrior protein (my tub is almost empty!) and spirulina.

A few of ya’ll asked what kind of Spirulina I use….

spirulina

It’s Earthrise (but I’m sure many brands are fine) and I picked it up when I was in OKC for culinary school

nutrients

I also take a probiotic since I don’t consume very much dairy

probiotic

And a Trader Joe’s prenatal – I like these better than the ones the base gave me

prenatal

It’s a good idea to take prenatals 6 months to a year before you plan to, you know 😉 *Always check with a doc before adding supplements into your diet. Getting too much of something can be as harmful as getting too little, so it’s always good to make sure.

Well I’m off to walk little Bella –Viesa is still at the kennel and the pilot is going to pick her up on his way home- practice yoga, then go to the gym for my training appointments.

I’m making red quinoa and shrimp for dinner 😀

See you tonight!

xoxo,

Gina

Hey there! That’s exciting news that you’ll be “you know :)” in the next six months to a year! I’m moving in with my boyfriend this summer, but it’s a start!

Also, I just wanted to let you know that your blog has inspired me to start my own (http://eatinggreenstayinglean.blogspot.com/)…hopefully it’ll lead to me being more accountable for what I”m eating, how much I’m exercising, and I’ll learn some things along the way.

Thanks again! Can’t wait for the spring workout on the 18th!

Is red quinoa more nutritious than white? I just got on the quinoa train, and I am loving the ride. I sub it in for oatmeal in the morning. Yum time.

    • Fitnessista on January 12, 2010 at 1:50 pm

i don’t think so- i’ve never tried red quinoa, and usually just have the regular one. i think they’re equal 😀

  13. Kat on January 12, 2010 at 1:41 pm

Question – in your opinion, what is the best-tasting protein powder to use? I generally use it either mixed in shakes (sludges) or oatmeal (and b’fast cookies!).

    • Fitnessista on January 12, 2010 at 1:50 pm

      best tasting: designer whey
most nutritious: nutribiotic or sun warrior

  14. Paige (Running Around Normal) on January 12, 2010 at 1:47 pm

Oooh, how exciting to hear you’re *beginning* to think about – you know! I can totally see you being one spectack mom 🙂

  23. Colleen on January 12, 2010 at 2:11 pm

I hope this isn’t too personal (if it is please don’t feel bad for not responding!) Do you have any problems with the iron in your prenatals? I talked to my Dr. about it (because I was having some pretty bad constipation despite my super-clean diet and tons of water), and he recommended that I take Super B-Complex vitamins instead. He said they do the same thing for you minus the iron. My husband and I have been married for almost five years, so babies are not too far away (oh that’s a happy/scary/exciting thought!), but I don’t know if I’ll have to go back to the iron once we do get to that point. I heard pregnancy can be constipating enough, haha.

    • Fitnessista on January 12, 2010 at 2:13 pm

haha i’ve had no prob with pre-natals. i also eat a ridiculous amount of fruits and veggies (fiber) though 😉

  24. Tina on January 12, 2010 at 2:24 pm

Hi 🙂 I’m new to reading your blog and the baby making part caught my eye 😀 Well, in addition to your balanced approach to living and mention of Valdosta (I live in GA). are you guys planning to conceive sometime soon!?? If you are supposed to take these 6 months to a year before trying to have a baby then I need to start popping these things too! only problem is that multi vitamins make me literally sick. I get a stomach ache every time I take them. any tips on preventing that?
