Morning Juice

Hi friends! Good morning 😀 Hope you’re having a fun and relaxing Sunday.

How crazy was that b-ball game last night?

 bball

It was basically a two hour panic attack. It was a close game, but my Wildcats didn’t conquer. Very proud to be a Cat, though 🙂

We started off our morning by juicing a small army of fresh produce 😀

juice

It’s fun to make juice for more than one.. and have someone else to help clean the juicer 😉

In between each type of juice, I’ll run water through the juicer to clean it out.

Apple orange for the Pilot:

and green apple, celery, cucumber, romaine and lemon for me.

Speaking of lemons…

lemon

(That one was ALL rind and hardly any fruit!)

Some of ya already know that I’m going through some work *stuff* right now. The original plan was for me to step up to a higher position this summer, which I was really excited about. I found out yesterday that it’s not a guaranteed thing. Life has definitely handed me a lemon (much like the one above, with all rind and hardly any fruit), so I’m waiting for find out what the next step will be.

It’s definitely the first time that I’ve been told that I have too many goals and too much going on. I thrive off of being busy, prioritize accordingly and have a lot I want to accomplish in this little life. I’m super bummed out about it but know that everything happens for a reason and it will work itself out.

I’m very fortunate that the bloggy is my full-time job –and is that #1 thing I’m passionate about- but enjoy having a part-time job to interact with live people.

So, I took this morning to take a look at my inspiration board and evaluate thangs:

inspiration board (2)

Might be time to renew my group exercise cert?

Lots of fun on the agenda today:

-Brunch with the fam

-Shopping at World Market for our new place –it’s friends and family weekend! Make sure to ask for your 25% off!

-House hunting

We’ll take lots of pics 😀

See ya later today!
xoxo

Gina

Just for fun:

When life gives you lemons, be sure to send a hand written thank you note for the lemons, as email thank you notes can appear to be less sincere.

When life gives you lemons suck out all of the vitamin C and yell “EAT THAT, LIFE!

When life gives you lemons ask for salt and tequila!

When life gives you lemons, make orange juice, then wonder how the heck you did it.

When life gives you lemons, collect them one day life will stop and u would have the most lemons ever.

When life hands you lemons make lemonade and find someone else who life handed vodka to, and have a party

When life gives you lemons alter their DNA and make super lemons!!!

When life gives you lemons just shut up and eat your damn lemons

When life gives you lemons sell them on ebay,

When life gives you lemons when no one is looking, throw them through life’s window and run away.

When life gives you lemons, squirt the juice in his eye

When life gives you lemons, find a kid with a paper cut

When life gives you lemons, ask for the receipt

Life just recently handed me a lovely lemon too, girl, so I’m with ya. Luckily, we’re both very fortunate to have amazing family and friends to support us, right? Good luck, I know something good will come your way!! 🙂

I hope things work out for the best; still, it can be frustrating to feel in limbo! Hope you have a relaxing Sunday of no worries and lots of quality time with the Pilot and fam 🙂

  3. Katie on March 27, 2011 at 12:49 pm

Hey love, all that matters is that you always keep a positive outlook ! Like I said everything happens for a reason ; )

I feel like I jump into too many things at once too, I have the same thing going on right now as you know, zumba, dance, wedding, and my studying for fitness, I just jump head first into things and then I get so crazy trying to figure how to balance it all! My mom always said I need to do one thing at a time, or do what is most important to me and make that the priority, I need to listen to her more ; )

Love ya Gina, you know Im only a text away ; ) have a fun day girl and let me know how house hunting goes! xo

  4. Kilee on March 27, 2011 at 12:50 pm

I just made my romaine/green apple juice this morning 🙂 I’m sorry to hear about the work stuff. Remember that everything happens for a reason and you are an awesome individual no matter what happens! Have lots of fun at Whole Market and house hunting. Enjoy this quality time with your fam and the pilot. Take care!

Everything happens for a reason and everything will fall perfectly into place for you – I just know it!! 🙂

  6. Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife on March 27, 2011 at 12:58 pm

It is true- everything does happen for a reason….but that is hard to digest sometime– Lemonade helps the digestion 😉 Have a great day with the fam and house hunting!!

  7. Stephanie on March 27, 2011 at 12:59 pm

It’s hard when things aren’t working out the way that you’d planned. While I don’t really believe that “everything happens for a reason”, I DO believe that everything works out in the end. You’re on your path…trust that the universe will send you what you need!

    Happy house hunting!
Everything will work out, you’ll see 🙂

That lemon is funny! I have never seen anything like that. Nature is buggy sometimes, hehe.

The lemon lines made me laugh 🙂 There’s nothing wrong with being goal oriented and knowing what you want – maybe the person who told you that is jealous b/c they don’t have a lot going on for them? It’s hard for some people to see a fabulous lady like yourself who is capable of spinning a lot of plates at the same time – a lot of folks have a hard time just getting out of bed in the morning! Keep up the good work, I love reading your blog and watching you grow 🙂

wow, that *tiny* lemon is crazy sad… I showed it to Jason (we just finished OUR juice!) and he said, that can’t be real – is that photoshopped?? 🙂

    • Fitnessista on March 27, 2011 at 10:11 pm

hahah! seriously- it was the weirdest thing!

  13. Leanne {The Bugs' Mama} on March 27, 2011 at 1:35 pm

Ha! This reminds me of a card I gave a friend once that said “When life hands you lemons, put them in your bra. Can’t hurt… might help.” 🙂

you have no idea how hard your comment made me laugh

  14. Kara on March 27, 2011 at 1:35 pm

Not related to your post, but one time I got lemons like that (I had bought a whole bag) and I took them back to the store and they gave me a full refund! Now that’s the kind of “lemonade” I like! 🙂

Gina sorry to hear about the work situation — things do seem to have a way of working themselves out. You always seem so motivated that I’m sure you’ll figure this all out!

Shopping for your new place…did you get that house that you wanted?

    • Fitnessista on March 27, 2011 at 10:10 pm

not yet.. hopefully the pilot will decide he loves that one too 😉

  20. Mindy on March 27, 2011 at 2:04 pm

My hubby is out of town today and tomorrow, and for the first time since we bought our juicer (early March I think) I didn’t make juice. I just didn’t feel like making it only for myself, haha.

Did you guys decide on the house? I wonder if I missed that…
Anyway, have fun shopping! It is so much fun shopping for a new home, but it can be exhausting as well!

    • Fitnessista on March 27, 2011 at 10:09 pm

haven’t decided yet- still trying to agree on one! we have very different tastes

  21. Ariffa on March 27, 2011 at 2:10 pm

Have you seen the movie “Forgetting Sarah Marshall?” There’s a line when one of the guys says oh so eloquently:

“When life give’s you lemons, I say f*** the lemons and bail”

I prefer the ones on your list though 😉

    • Fitnessista on March 27, 2011 at 10:09 pm

i actually haven’t seen it, but the pilot is a fan 😉

  22. elizabeth on March 27, 2011 at 2:10 pm

I’m so sorry to hear it — but I know that everything does happen for a reason and when doors close you’re usually very happy in the long run that they did. It will all work out! <3 <3 <3

  23. Maria @ Oh Healthy Day on March 27, 2011 at 2:14 pm

I feel your pain with the job situation. I got my Master’s Degree (two years of hard work!) and was thus promised a promotion and instead I keep getting “be patient, we’ll have a place for you”. It’s definitely hard to not be bitter, but instead I try to focus on the the fact that I do have a job and despite it not being what I want, it pays my bills, is secure, and most importantly is letting me take three weeks off for my wedding 🙂

Hang in there! Good things are to come!

  24. fittingbackin on March 27, 2011 at 2:15 pm

I hope you have fun at World Market – great spot! (and nice discount!)

  25. Meredith on March 27, 2011 at 2:22 pm

Total crap! The main reason I love reading your blog is BECAUSE you have so many goals and so much going on! It’s inspiring! Don’t let it get you down. Whoever said that is actually probably doing you a big favor by revealing their true colors…you probably wouldn’t enjoy working for someone who thinks that way anyway. Keep your chin up!

    • Fitnessista on March 27, 2011 at 10:08 pm

thanks girl, i appreciate it 🙂

  26. Sarah on March 27, 2011 at 2:32 pm

  29. Kelly @ Laughter, Strength, and Food on March 27, 2011 at 3:20 pm

I am going through some of my own “work” stuff right now and I know how hard it can be. It seems like things are never going to work out sometimes, but we all know that they will eventually. It’s important to just keep moving and tell yourself something else (usually better) is in store.
    Enjoy your Sunday! 🙂

  30. Allie J on March 27, 2011 at 3:30 pm

    Hi Gina!
I’m sorry to hear about the work stuff going on right now! I know everything will work out, but it’s always kind of hard to wait it out. You have the best attitude though! Also, I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing the brand/model of your juicer and spiralizer. For some reason, the spiralizer isn’t on your OpenSky store anymore. Weird! Thanks so much & have an awesome day:) Allie

  31. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on March 27, 2011 at 3:43 pm

“and have someone else to help clean the juicer” — oh that’s the truth! I have always said juicer cleanup is the reason I don’t juice! Hate it, takes forever for me!

The work stuff. So sorry that you’ve encountered this bump in the road, Gina. I can only imagine you feel a bit ‘punished’ for being a go-getter, for having various irons in the fire, and that those things are not being held against you a bit in terms of moving up with your position. That’s so unfortunate!

Knowing you, you will make lemonade out of these lemons. But in the moment, it’s a very bitter pill to swallow. Your attitude and who you are as a person will weather this hurdle and come out stronger on the other side. In the meantime….hugs 🙂

  32. Lisa on March 27, 2011 at 3:46 pm

Yep life can throw u some lulu lemons can’t it?!

  33. Sierra on March 27, 2011 at 3:51 pm

I too love your lemonade quotes. My favorite one that I’ve ever heard was, When life hands you lemons, yell back “Ha, life! I like lemons!” As for your particular lemon, I think you and only you should be able to tell yourself what you can handle. Not anyone else. That being said, sometimes we add more and more and more to our plate because we do think we can handle it. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. As you said, maybe you’ll get to do something else off of your inspiration board! 🙂

P.S. What kind of juicer do you use? I reallllly want a juicer but don’t know what type to get.

OMG you should go to the store and get your money back on those lemons. I’ve never seen that before! Do you clean it with boiling water? That must be quite the undertaking!

    • Fitnessista on March 27, 2011 at 10:07 pm

no i don’t clean it like that when i’m done- just in between juices. when i’m done using it, the pieces go in the dishwasher

  36. Amber B on March 27, 2011 at 4:13 pm

My favorite is: When life hands you lemons, stuff them down your shirt and make your boobs look bigger! 😀

I recently didn’t get a job at a well-known vegan company that I reaaalllyyy would have loved and would have excelled at. It crushed me when they told me that they would have loved to hire me but they felt like I had too much going on in my life to truly devote myself to the job…but of course that’s true. I would have loved that job, but it wasn’t my dream, it was a peripheral goal rather than one of my PRIORITIES. That blow helped me refocus and now I feel clearer about which direction I’m going. It feels nice, actually, because I don’t WANT my life to always be zooming in a thousand different directions, sometimes I just want everything to align. I hope everything works out that way for you too <3

I can totally relate as I feel I’ve been handed one lemon after another here recently. :/ I think the key is to s stay positive and lean on those that support you!

What is quite hilarious about my vision board is I put my face over the model’s faces so it would be easier for me to visualize myself with that body or whatever! I JUST posted about it so if you wanna look at the picture of my vision board really quick you can! It’s pretty funny 🙂 🙂

Chin Up about the job, Gina. I recently got laid off from a company in which I was planning to apply for a promotion. A couple weeks later, an opportunity popped up and I was hired for a great new position and a way better job. Things really do work out for a reason, its really amazing! And like you said, you’ve got such a fab full time job, that a great second job is just icing on the cake!
