Mountain Woman

Hey guys! How are ya?? I’m bueno- stoked to visit the Smoky Mountains

gina

My face us just oozing excitement, no?

Ok, so I’m a little…lot…. afraid. If you’ve ever been to the Smoky Mountains, please assure me I won’t get captured by sasquatch or see a ghost 😉

The pilot’s Jeep is PACKED to the brim!

packed

We brought a healthy food stash, lots of clothes and layers, gifts, and BELLA!

Viesa is spending Christmas at the kennel –no worries, she loves it there and my in-laws are bringing their cat. Viesa likes cats… for dinner 😉

This morning, I had a lovely bfast cookie before training a client:

bfastcookie

-1/2 cup oats

-1 T almond butter

-1/2 scoop Sun Warrior vanilla protein

-lots of cinnamon

-1 smashed banana

-almond milk

I went to work an hour early so I could get some cardio in (45 minutes on the elliptical) before training. My client had an awesome pre-Christmas leg and abs sesh, and then I came home to pack.

Once we got on the road, I was snacky so we tried out out a new to me hummus

hummus

JALAPENO HUMMUS?!? I was all over that 😀

With Mary’s Crack:

And carrots:

We also revived the XM radio from the dead (the pilot has had it for 6 years!) and got it working again for the road trip.

radio

It feels nice to hear some new songs! Valdosta is a little slow on the music bandwagon 😉

We’re just getting into Atlanta and going to make a stop –I begged for our rest stop to be at Whole Foods, heh heh- but we’ll see you from the MOUNTAINS!

xoxo,

Gina

Do you know something about the mountains that I don’t (re: ghosts?) 🙂 I’ve been tons of times. You might see some wildlife, but nothing too scary!

I grew up in the Smoky Mountains area so I can say with absolute certainty…

    There might be ghosts! LOL!

It is a very strange place sometimes but I think your biggest threat might be the winding mountain roads. If you’re not used to them they’re a killer. Might wanna go easy on the hummus before hitting those – lol!

I’m going to finally make one of your breakfast cookies! I have a crazy ripe banana that’s going to get in on it. I’ll post how it turns out.

Don’t be scared of the mountains!

  13. Kristen on December 23, 2009 at 6:32 pm

The Smokies are in my backyard!

If you go through the Pigeon Forge area prepare to close your eyes and plug your ears for awhile…it is more than a little wacko and can easily overwhelm even the bravest souls. 😀

Are you going to Dollywood? I’m from NYC and I was pleasantly surprised how nice everyone was there and how much I enjoyed it. We went to a gem mine in Boone and I mined myself some nice emeralds and garnets, which I had made into earrings. You’ll have a great time! The Pilot will protect you from the ghosts.

  21. Janna (Just Flourishing) on December 23, 2009 at 8:15 pm

      lol!!!! i’ll try!

  34. Christy on December 24, 2009 at 9:49 am

LOL, you’ll be fine! I grew up in the Smokies. Here are the biggest dangers you face in Gburg:

    1. rednecks/mullets
    2. crazy tourists (and thus tourist trap shops)
    3. traffic
    4. CANDY SHOPS!

    Have a great trip. 🙂

  35. Diana (Soap & Chocolate) on December 24, 2009 at 10:15 am

Safe travels, and MERRY CHRISTMAS! You’ll be fine in the mountains–I have faith that Santa Claus will find you. 😉
