Namast-heyyyyy + Meals and fitness

Hi friends! Happy Sunday <3 Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend. I’m floating on a beautiful Zen cloud after this weekend’s press trip adventures at L’Auberge de Sedona and the Sedona Yoga Festival. Thank you so much for all of the wonderful Sedona recommendations! I’ve experienced one of (what I consider to be) the most beautiful places in the world, surrounded by nature, and yogis! Is it just me, but are yogis particularly friendly and kind, or what? I was hugged by complete strangers so many times this weekend.

I met some kind and lovely writers and friends, enjoyed the spa, and took some incredible classes. I will definitely be recapping the sessions here on the blog. (Two words: forest bathing. <— it isn’t like it sounds haha.) 🙂

The Pilot and Liv had a terrible time while I was here.

Tom and liv and shark

They went to the aquarium, the beach, and daddy-daughter meals out together. I miss them like crazy, and can’t wait to hug them later today. Liv always seems like she grows 3 inches while I’m away, and I’m excited to hear her recap of the weekend. It will be nice to enjoy some chill time with the Pilot (and catch up on Scandal! Don’t tell me what happens), and back in the swing of life this week.

The Pilot and I are still continuing to meal plan and prep, similarly to what we have been doing, so I’ll be working on that later tonight. I’ve enjoyed writing these weekly meal plan posts again because it encourages me to get a plan together in advance and stick to it. It makes meal planning so much easier, and we love having a variety of fresh and healthy options on hand. It’s also nice not to stand in the kitchen, staring blankly into the fridge, and saying, “Uhhh… so what should we make for dinner?”

Here’s what’s on the tentative schedule for the week:

Plan and prep:

 –Brownie batter protein bites

-Grill sweet potato chicken burgers (recipe in the book)

-Chop veggies

-Make Bitchin’ sauce

-Make banana bread

Dinner:

Coriander-crusted scallops with chickpea salad

Homemade Chipotle burrito bowls

Slow cooker butter chicken with brown rice

Lavender salmon with roasted veggies

As far as fitness classes go, it looks like lots of teaching, a little Orangetheory and some yoga.

Sunday: Yoga

Monday: Teach BODYPUMP and teach Spin

Tuesday: OFF

Wednesday: Teach spin

Thursday: Teach Barre x2 (maybe add in a nice walk or some easy cardio)

Friday: Orangetheory

Saturday: Teach Zumba

Are you planning and prepping today? What’s on the menu this week? Have you tried any new fitness classes or studios lately?

xoxo

Gina

Today, I’m prepping some Valentine’s Day recipes to debut on my blog this week, and making homemade saag tempeh. That Bodypump + spin teaching combo sounds rough! You are a beast!

Yes! I tried Body Pump for the first time at the gym where I am working now. This week’s prep included brown rice, lots of veggies, sweet potatoes, chicken and almond flour muffins. Happy Sunday – so glad you had an amazing time in Sedona!

I got back to a yoga studio for the first time in over a year last Friday and I went again this Friday. It was lovely! I love yoga 🙂 My meal plan for the week is almost finished. I was going to the grocery store this afternoon but decided I didn’t want to deal with the crazy after church Sunday crowds!

Sometimes I am SO lazy to prep and plan, and I always regret it! I love that you change up the menu every week – mine is usually the same, except I am on a huge spiralizing kick and will be majorly incorporating that!

I agree, yogis are so lovely! 😉 looks like a beautiful time! I’m not planning any meals these days cos I get food for free where I work 🙂 perfect for a student like me! Ps if you guys are ever in Vancouver you should check out the aquarium there, I just went and it’s amazing!

All those Buddhas make me so happy!

Tried Orange Theory recently and LOVED IT and now I’m headed to try out CorePower. Because I teach at multiple gyms at offer yoga I’ve never thought to pay for a membership, so I’m giving it a trial run 🙂 I feel yoga would be a great incorporation to help broaden my teaching style.

Also, props to that food prep list. I don’t have time to follow many blogs, but yours I never miss. I look every Sunday because I know you’ll live inside my food brain and have some GREAT ideas! I will be making a lot of these recipes! Thanks for inspiring me to stay on the “prepared” train as well, being in the industry, it’s nice to have someone to think for me at times since I’m busy giving all my clients what they need! And it feels SO good at the end of the week to have eaten so well and so much less stressful to be standing in the kitchen with a puzzled look while I’m haaaaaaaaangry 🙂 Thanks so much Gina!

That is rad that you go to get away for a bit to go to the festival! Sedona is so gorgeous – I really can’t ever get sick of it and I can only imagine a yoga fest there is practically life changing! I just started doing yoga again (I hadn’t practiced since my pregnancy 3 years ago!) and it has felt great to get back in to it!

Hi Gina! Sounds like a fabulous weekend with a bunch of yogis in a beautiful place. I’d love to do that one day! My workout plan for the week includes a lot of teaching Les Mills classes, and as far as meal prep? Well the hubby and I bought a new grill, so it will be a meat-fest I hope! 🙂

  12. Erin on February 8, 2015 at 5:59 pm

I prepped Brownie Batter Bites and then ate most of them, lol! I also baked some chicken thighs and made a batch of baby food 🙂

My husband and I stayed at the L’Auberge de Sedona last year for our anniversary-it IS the most magical and beautiful place. We enjoyed amazing hikes too-glad you are enjoying 🙂

I’m jealous! Never been to Sedona in the 13 yrs I’ve lived in AZ. Maybe when it’s a little warmer I’ll drive up there.

  17. Britt@MyOwnBalance on February 8, 2015 at 7:27 pm

Sedona looks beautiful! I can’t wait to hear your recap. I swear my son wakes up in the morning longer than the day before. It is amazing how fast they grow!

  18. Lizzie @ The Magic Tree on February 9, 2015 at 7:41 am

I always prep for the week too. Things definitely don’t always go as planned, but it helps keep us on some sort of schedule. I try and make one new recipe each week. This week we’re trying Gorgonzola chicken. It seems pretty easy, but now I’m doubting my decision to cook with such a strong cheese flavor. It might be a little intense!

    • Fitnessista on February 9, 2015 at 4:10 pm

      that sounds delicious, though!

Sedona looks absolutely beautiful! I live in Southern California, so AZ isn’t TOO far away – I’ll have to plan a visit sometime 🙂

    • Fitnessista on February 9, 2015 at 4:10 pm

      you would LOVE it

    Hey Gina!
I love when you post meal prep plans and ideas! : )

I’ve been going to Xplicit fitness (there’s usually livingsocial or groupon for it)–it’s awesome!!! I find it more effective and dynamic than either Barry’s or OTF! Also, you should come checkout my friend Jessica’s tuesday night Cardio dance class at Xplicit (first class is free!) It’s soooo fun—great mix of jazz, pop, and hiphop and she has the best energy!!!

    • Fitnessista on February 10, 2015 at 3:15 pm

i will definitely check it out!! thank you!
