New goat cheese lurve

Heyyyy 😀 How are ya? Hope you’ve had a great day so far <3 I loved reading your breaking up with trainer stories. Not going to lie- as a trainer, quite a few of them scared me. Definitely use your instincts when you’re paying someone to affect your health/fitness… if it’s not working, you’ll know.

This morning, I went to pump some crazy iron and totally forgot my headphones at home. So instead of wah-wah-ing, I left my iPhone in the car and enjoyed a totally technology-less workout. It was actually a nice change to workout without a podcast or song playing- very nice 🙂

Post-workout snack:

apple

Organic apple with TJs honey goat gouda, which my be my new goat cheese love

+ seaweed snacks

snacks

+ a mountain of popcorn.

I finally saw The Help today, and it was AMAZING.

the-help Source

Today was going to be a 100% chore, clean, errand, plan out my life day, but when my nana called asking if I’d join them on a movie date (nana, madre, a cousin and a family friend), I couldn’t resist.

I read the book last summer –couldn’t put it down- and the movie was so very well done. The casting was perfect for the roles and I cried about 4 times during the movie. Definitely bring a tissue with you if you decide to go 😉 [and read the book first- it’s one of my faves!]

Lunch:

lunch

An egg-rito on a teff tortilla with salsa + steamed broccoli with sea salt and nutritional yeast

lunch (2)

The Pilot just got home from work, dinner is simmering away on the stove

dinner

(love one-pot wonders)

and we’re going to try to figure out if we can fix this…

plant

That used to be attached to the wall, but apparently some crazy storm detached it while we were gone this weekend?

Poor plant.

Cardio time over here- see ya in the morning <3

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: What are you most excited for about fall? I know summer is still here for a while (104 here today!), but I can’t help but dream about pumpkin everything 🙂 Also up there: [vegan] hot cocoa, sweaters + leggings + boots, and Halloween 😀

Fall is my favorite time of year! I can’t wait, I’m so over summer. Don’t know how you handle 104… it’s been in the *gasp* 80’s in So Cal.

  2. Shaya on August 23, 2011 at 10:05 pm

I’ve picked up the regular goat gouda from TJ’s but I haven’t tried it yet… I think since it’s not portioned into single-size servings I might be too tempted to eat half the wedge in one sitting!!

I just want the fall weather to return so that I can start to crave the pumpkin I have stocked in my cabinets, and actually drink a warm beverage before it’s night-time. I miss hot starbucks drinks 🙁

  3. maria @ a life to Bragg about on August 23, 2011 at 10:05 pm

You really make me want to drive the hour and half to Raleigh to try TJ’s goat gouda cheese!

And why I can’t wait for fall? Besides what you said…..I can’t wait to meet my baby and hold him! 😀

  4. Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance on August 23, 2011 at 10:06 pm

Glad you enjoyed The Help– I didn’t read it but would love to see the movie! Especially since I’ve heard such mixed reviews

  5. Danielle (Shrinking and Studying) on August 23, 2011 at 10:07 pm

Mmm… that goat cheese gouda makes my mouth water.

Fall is my favorite season! I’m excited for cardigans, scarves, leaves, thanksgiving, leggings, boots, fall jackets, squash, pumpkin spiced lattes and pumpkin in my oatmeal, and the university to be packed with students again.

  6. Kris | iheartwellness.com on August 23, 2011 at 10:10 pm

I can’t wait for the air to turn crisp so I can blow out my hair and have it stay straight!

  9. Krystina (Organically Me) on August 23, 2011 at 10:19 pm

Haha, not much, considering I live in Florida. I will miss apple picking and pumpkin picking desperately. 🙁

      haha you’re welcome

  11. mary on August 23, 2011 at 10:25 pm

Be careful leaving your iPhone in the car in this weather. I know this heat can destroy batteries, and possibly other bits.

Costco has a 1lb. goat cheese log for like $5. I used to use it a lot but maybe I store it wrong because my last two seemed to go weird quickly.

  12. Kristi @ lifesprinkles.com on August 23, 2011 at 10:27 pm

ahh what’s not to love about fall?? fall clothes, halloween, pumpkin spice, cooler nights plus a crisp feeling in the air (especially welcome after a hot az summer!)..just feels like there’s a whole different energy 🙂

  13. Brynne on August 23, 2011 at 10:32 pm

  16. kara on August 23, 2011 at 10:38 pm

omg i JUST got back in from seeing The Help with my mom! loooooved it. and definitely, the casting was absolutely perfect. i also thought they did a really good job incorporating all of the really important stuff from the book, especially since it was such a huge book and all of it was so good. one of the best book -> movies i’ve seen in a long time.

  17. Lindsey on August 23, 2011 at 10:38 pm

I am with you on the “fall” dreaming – everything pumpkin, beautiful fall leaves, boots, sweaters, homemade soups and casseroles – I can’t wait!

  18. Kristi on August 23, 2011 at 10:39 pm

I am looking forward to pumpkin anything (hopefully I can find some soon! Our stores have been out for ages), sweaters and sweating more IN the gym than OUT of it! Oh, and crisp apples. I LOVED The Help. Read it twice, listened to it once on CD and have seen the movie once.

  19. Namaste Gurl on August 23, 2011 at 10:48 pm

It still gets me how you manage to fold your gluten- free tortillas SO well. Whenever I attempt to fold them Chipotle- style, they fall apart 🙁

  20. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on August 23, 2011 at 10:51 pm

I’m not excited about anything regarding fall. Sorry, I love spring and summer and fall just means it will get colder and darker and I don’t “love” pumpkin like everyone else does in the ‘sphere. How’s that for being bah-humbug about fall. haha!

Ok fall fashions, that’s what Im excited about.

Mountain of popcorn…oh that’s me every day girl!

Good luck with the yard maintenance situation. Always a party, eh? 🙂

  21. Katie @ Plates and Paste on August 23, 2011 at 10:57 pm

You make me wish there was aTJs in FL. Loved The Help as well and I didn’t read the book, but want to now!

  22. Katie @ Plates and Paste on August 23, 2011 at 10:58 pm

Oh and def looking forward to everything pumpkin 🙂

  23. Maria on August 23, 2011 at 11:06 pm

I’m ready for summer to be over…and I known in about 3 months I will be kicking myself for saying so. I can’t wait for seasonal coffee drinks, warm oatmeal, boots and leggings!!! It’s my favorite time of year. Question about nutritional yeast: I recently started putting it on my popcorn but it just falls off :-/ I see you put a lot more than what I use. I use just a sprinkling. Should I just add more or do you have any tips on making it stick to popcorn?

    • Amber L on August 24, 2011 at 11:22 am

This is a good question!! I always wondered this too haha. Can’t wait to see what Gina does.

    • Fitnessista on August 24, 2011 at 4:29 pm

  24. Jen @familyfoodfitnessandfun on August 23, 2011 at 11:13 pm

  25. Allison @ Food for Healing on August 23, 2011 at 11:14 pm

  28. Ashley@MyFoodNFitnessDiaries on August 23, 2011 at 11:24 pm

Oh yes, I’m all about the pumpkin EVERYTHING! In fact, I’m already breaking it out with pumpkin smoothies and pumpkin muffins. 🙂

  30. Reader on August 24, 2011 at 12:38 am

TJ’s honey goat gouda…YUMMM…i have to remind myself 4 or 5 times throughout the day to not finish off the entire wedge and go buy more…also to not eat the paper casing haha

    • Fitnessista on August 24, 2011 at 1:16 am

seriously! i kept going back for one more little piece….

  31. Ali @ urbanfruitbat on August 24, 2011 at 12:43 am

I am looking forward to carb fest 2011! This is what we do for thanks giving, since we are a house hold of vegans!

  32. Elise on August 24, 2011 at 1:04 am

I’ve been excited for fall since March, but it’s still a long way away where I live. Today, with a high of 102 (which was actually a break from the 106-110 days we’ve been having), we tied for the record number of 100+ days in a year and we’re not stopping anytime soon. I can’t wait for sweater-weather, spice scented candles, holiday baking, pumpkin spice lattes, and apple cider, though!

  33. Elena on August 24, 2011 at 1:21 am

It is a shame we do not have TJ products in the is part of the ward -(

Definitely Halloween! I don’t love dressing up, but something about Halloween always makes me so happy. Maybe because orange is my favorite color…

  36. janiek on August 24, 2011 at 4:21 am

Do you get your teff tortillas at Trader Joe’s?

  38. Natasha (OveLoves) on August 24, 2011 at 7:30 am

I just saw The Help last night and loved it! There are few movies that I enjoy after reading the book. Typically, I’m a little bit too critical and chalk it up to the fact that the book is always better (but really, the book IS always better). And this was still true but I think the casting was on point and the adaptation from book to movie was PERFECT (the subtle changes they made to make it movie-worthy were perfect). I loved, loved, loved it and definitely see Oscar potential.

  39. Heather on August 24, 2011 at 7:50 am

I’ve been wanting to see The Help so badly, but haven’t read the book. I’ll get on that and turn to Netflix once it’s out on DVD. (:

Good luck “fixing” your poor plant! <3

I also worked out without any music yesterday—it was so nice! Every once in a while, it’s good to just unplug.

I am SO EXCITED for pumpkin stuff. I hoard pumpkin like it’s my job in the fall!

I love it all…fall decor, pumpkin EVERYTHING (oats, lattes, coffee…), UGG boots, cozy sweaters, leaves changing.
I just wish fall would come without bringing winter along right after. Blech.
