New YouTube channel + a cumbia

Hi friends! How’s your morning going? I’m so happy you liked the protein fudge recipe! I’m stoked to explore some new flavor combos and change up my snack routine a bit.

I have some exciting news today: an all-new YouTube channel!

Sage dance fitness

I’ve been wanting to do more dance cardio videos, and reached out to a friend of mine to see if she’d want to make some with me. Sasha has also danced her entire life and is one of my Zumba teaching partners in crime 🙂 I was so excited when she said she’d make some Zumba and dance fitness YouTube videos showcasing our dance cardio choreography. Our channel is called Sage Dance Fitness and we would love if you’d subscribe. We’re planning on releasing a new video at least once a week, with all-new dances including pop, international, and some strength and barre workouts in there, too.

Our first video is a low-impact cumbia. It’s a great starting off video for Zumba beginners -my last video was a little cray cray– and one that you can easily jazz up after becoming familiar with the basic steps.

Hope you’re wearing your dancing pants today! Jammies count, too 🙂 Please let us know what you think and as always, hope you enjoy!

xoxo

Cannot wait to try this – I am a Zumba newbie, so an at-home video will prep me before subjecting my dance moves to a class! ha!

    Thanks!

I will definitely subscribe later on today (when I’m on a non-work computer) – I need all the help I can get when it comes to anything requiring rhythm. I took a Zumba class last week, and even though I’ve taken them in the past, the long time away made me forget everything I learned and I was so frustrated that I couldn’t get even simple footwork down fast enough.

I had already made a note to try to find some youtube stuff to practice with, so this will be perfect!

Can’t wait to get home where my computer lets me actually get on Youtube so I can subscribe:) Dang these stupid school computers with everything blocked.

How exciting! I will definitely subscribe to this. Weekly dance party in my living room? Sounds fabulous. PS i am still rocking out my smoothie a day for May! Today: frozen blueberries and blackberries, vanilla sun warrior, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, spinach, almond butter, chia seeds, dash of cinnamon and vanilla – yummmmmmmmm.

I’m looking forward to trying the dances on your channel so I can switch up my cardio. I think having a channel specifically for this is a good idea-thanks for posting!

Love this Gina!! Could you possibly film a full length class sometime? I’ve been loving dance cardio lately.

  15. Lizzie on May 14, 2013 at 1:06 pm

This is so great! I subscribed! One thing that would be cool if you could do (and helpful) would be to overlay words of instructions on the video telling us what is coming up… i.e. “get ready to move to your left” or “circle around” (obviously I don’t know the proper terms!) so we are hopefully not two steps behind in figuring it out.

Can’t wait to try this when I get home! I won’t subject my coworkers to watching me try it.

Love this! I will definitely dance alone in my room like a weirdo to these videos!

Hi Gina, love the new youtube. what about an updated zumba playlist?? thanks!

  22. Anna on May 14, 2013 at 2:18 pm

This whole dance cardio thing is new to me and I just watched some of the video and I know for sure I have to do it alone (no one must know that I lack rhythm). How long is each video going to be and how many times do you recommend repeating it?

  23. Irene on May 14, 2013 at 2:29 pm

Congrats Gina! That is awesome! I have an honest question; is it much harder to make a longer video (like stitch together a bunch of short videos) than a short one? If I’m being honest, I rarely do workout videos of the dance/cardio variety that are less than 20 minutes because I find it frustrating to be constantly stopping and fussing with my computer every 5 minutes. I will watch the strength training videos for form cues, etc, but for cardio I feel like my heart rate comes down too quickly doing with pulling up the next video, waiting for it to buffer and then getting through the intro. If you were able to splice a bunch of the short videos together, I would love that (and even be willing to pay for it!) You are very talented and I am sure it is annoying to get comments on a free video you make out of the goodness of your heart, but those are just my 2 cents, it may not bother other people to be starting and stopping a lot.
