New Zumba video: Salsa Choke

Hi! Hope you’re enjoying your Friday so far!

Since Sasha and I are both moving in the next few months, we got together to film a ton of new videos for our YouTube channel. It’s a bummer that we have to be apart, but we have some fun projects planned while we’re in different locations. (I’ll be in San Diego and she’ll be in AUSTRALIA!)

We’re all doing the Friday dance, so how about a little Zumba-style Friday dance?

Salsa Choke

This a gold star: I mess up, and am a giant nerd at the end. Hope you enjoy, haha.

If you try it out, let me know how it goes!

For a great workout combo, try the Zumba video below (warmup) +  this Tabata circuit and this barre burner.

Have a wonderful weekend <3

xoxo

Gina

thank you! 🙂 yeah, i can’t wait to live vicariously through her adventures!

Love the video! I remember not loving the choreo they gave us for that song but never did anything else with it. I might have to revisit it now 🙂

    • Fitnessista on January 4, 2014 at 5:58 pm

same, but i loved the song! hey, do you like the new zin?!

      • Suzi on January 4, 2014 at 7:48 pm

I am in love with the live version!

  3. jen on January 3, 2014 at 6:35 pm

I don’t understand these videos…4 minutes isn’t a workout and no cueing to follow asking and learn

    • Fitnessista on January 3, 2014 at 7:00 pm

Have you taken a Zumba class? You watch and follow. I included links to make this a 35 minute full workout

      • jen on January 4, 2014 at 1:12 pm

It just seems like you should post a 30 min video then, instead of stopping e very 4 minutes to find a new video. And no I don’t zumba. I prefer real workouts like running, not dancing like a high school cheerleader w my mom haircut styled and a solo beat skirt

        • Ali on January 4, 2014 at 5:17 pm

Um…calm down. Why are you so upset over a workout video that is completely free for you? If you don’t like it, don’t do it. Not everyone can run and some people (like me) feel like running is torture because I have very bad knees and I get bored out of my mind. Everyone likes something different – it doesn’t mean that any type of workout is good or bad – just different.

        • Fitnessista on January 4, 2014 at 6:01 pm

          what?

    • Britt on January 3, 2014 at 8:40 pm

Wow. This was kind of rude.

      • Britt on January 3, 2014 at 9:00 pm

        You weren’t rude Gina!

        • Fitnessista on January 3, 2014 at 9:07 pm

It shows up funny on the display, but I think she was responding to Jen (I hope? Haha)

          • Britt on January 4, 2014 at 11:43 am

I was not responding to you at all! I was responding to Jen!

  4. Alison @ Daily Moves and Grooves on January 3, 2014 at 7:06 pm

Love it!! Having a little dance party by myself in my room right now. 😉

    • Fitnessista on January 4, 2014 at 5:58 pm

      wahoo!

  5. Kelly on January 3, 2014 at 7:13 pm

Yay! Love you’re guys’ dance videos! It must have been such a bummer at the spa that BOTH you and Sasha had to quit around the same time. I DREAD the day when my favorite instructors stop teaching the classes I take! Gonna do this new song after work! Thanks!

PS. I was looking at pictures on facebook and saw that you and Sasha did a Zumbathon last year in Tuscon. Small world as my Zumba instructor here in MN is involved with it up here! It was such a surprise to see you guys. 🙂 Have good weekend, Gina!

    • Kelly on January 3, 2014 at 7:15 pm

Involved with the organization that was hosting the Zumbathon… that’s what I meant. Need to be more clear and not assume people can read my mind! Hehe 🙂

  6. Lisa on January 3, 2014 at 7:16 pm

Great video Gina! I just had a blast shaking my booty in my living room. Love our authenticity – have a great day! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on January 4, 2014 at 6:06 pm

      wahoo! xo

    Looks like such fun! 🙂

  9. Ali @ Peaches and Football on January 3, 2014 at 8:09 pm

This is a riot! I watched the first couple minutes and was booty-shaking in my seat. It’s on the workout plan for tomorrow. I love these!! 🙂

  10. Lyric on January 3, 2014 at 9:41 pm

I love the fact I can do this at home! It gives my usual dance parties a little more structure 😉

    • Fitnessista on January 4, 2014 at 6:05 pm

hahah freestyling is fun too 🙂

  11. Livi on January 3, 2014 at 10:07 pm

fun workout video!! Perfect for snowed in days here in the North East!

    • Fitnessista on January 4, 2014 at 6:05 pm

      :)!

  12. Erin @ Live & Love L.A. on January 4, 2014 at 1:11 am

I am trying Zumba for the first time this Sunday! I don’t know what took me so long to get on the train…but here I go! Wish me luck, I’m so excited, but your video makes it look like a blast.

    Happy New Year!!!

    • emma @ be mom strong on January 4, 2014 at 6:50 am

I am terrified to try ZUMBA! Good luck! I need more instruction than just a watch me and do! I’m a klutz!

      • Kelly on January 4, 2014 at 2:34 pm

Don’t be afraid! It takes a couple of times but you’ll so get it! They are introducing new songs all the time, so eventually everyone is a beginner again. It is a great workout, I burn like 450-550 calories in one hour! Try it! So much more fun in a classroom setting than on a DVD, though Gina and Sasha’s video’s are fun because you can tell they enjoy each others teaching style. TRY IT!!

        • Fitnessista on January 4, 2014 at 5:59 pm

🙂 totally agree! it’s an awesome workout, and much more fun (to me) than being on a treadmill

      • Fitnessista on January 4, 2014 at 6:02 pm

don’t be afraid! no one expects you to do it perfectly- it’s just moving and having fun 🙂

    • Kelly on January 4, 2014 at 2:35 pm

Have fun Erin and if you don’t like the isntructor, try someone else or give it a few tries. I have an awesome instructor and aside from my strength class, it is my favorite class of the week!

      • Fitnessista on January 4, 2014 at 5:59 pm

amen to that. the instructor makes all the difference!

    • Fitnessista on January 4, 2014 at 6:04 pm

good luck! i hope you love it! let me know how it goes 🙂 remember that it’s worth trying different instructors to find a style you like, too

  13. Julie on January 4, 2014 at 3:04 am

I really enjoyed it! It was fun to do – tried it a couple of times! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on January 4, 2014 at 6:03 pm

      :)! glad you enjoyed! xo

  14. Kelly on January 4, 2014 at 4:43 am

This is my favorite Zumba video of you guys! Great job, I loved it!!! Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on January 4, 2014 at 6:02 pm

wow, thank you! glad you liked it 🙂

  15. Paula on January 4, 2014 at 9:09 am

I love your videos with Sasha! I always feel like such a tool trying to follow along (and I was a dancer for 10 years!) but you two are adorable. It’s a nice way to ease into a workout on one of those “I don’t wanna!” days. Plus, it’s great practice for the dance floor.

    • Fitnessista on January 4, 2014 at 6:02 pm

so happy you like them!! xoxo

  16. Amanda on January 4, 2014 at 4:39 pm

Love it! Also, that Tabata circuit is no joke!

    • Fitnessista on January 4, 2014 at 5:59 pm

haha it killed me to film it!

  17. Alissa on January 4, 2014 at 11:47 pm

Exctied and sad that you are both onto great adventures, but will love the videos as they come out. Now I feel the need to do Solibeat for my Sunday morning workout, I love it! Thank you so much, and great job with all the videos!

  18. Jennie on January 5, 2014 at 3:57 am

I never comment but just wanted to say thanks so much for the emails that you’ve been sending with the weekly workout plans…they’ve helped me so much to exercise more consistently (which I find especially difficult in hot and humid Sydney, Australia!!!). Also, huge congrats on the book deal…I’d love to read a post with more details!

  19. Jessica on January 5, 2014 at 4:16 am

I wish you’d talk in the video instead of throwing up signs for “2 times” & “left” & “right”. It was
Kinda cool, but could be better.

    • Fitnessista on January 5, 2014 at 10:45 am

zumba is non-verbal cueing. for other types of dance cardio, i verbally cue

  20. Abby on January 5, 2014 at 3:21 pm

We’ve had a snowy weekend with an ice storm today so your three workout videos suggested were perfect! Thanks for providing them, they helped my cabin fever and allowed me to get a nice workout in for the day!

    • Fitnessista on January 5, 2014 at 4:58 pm

wahoo! so glad you enjoyed 🙂

  21. Stephanie on January 5, 2014 at 8:01 pm

I showed the video to my now 2 year old (as of today!!) and it was pretty much the cutest and funniest thing ever to watch her start dancing to the music :)))

    • Fitnessista on January 5, 2014 at 11:00 pm

      awww! i love it!

      • Fitnessista on January 5, 2014 at 11:00 pm

so, happy birthday to her (and YOU!)

        • Stephanie on January 6, 2014 at 1:09 pm

Thanks! Livi is any day now too right?

          • Fitnessista on January 6, 2014 at 6:58 pm
