Nudge Fry

Apparently I need to work on my stir fry skills.

stir fry

I guess you need to flip and stir with vigor? I just munched my kettle corn and pushed the veggies and chicken around in the pot (we don’t have a wok). The Pilot mentioned my “nudge fry” skills… but stopped teasing me when he ate the meal 😉

stir fry2

Some onions, carrots, local chicken and asparagus, cooked on high with sea salt, cayenne, garlic, tamari and a little brown sugar at the end

with brown rice, and my favorite broccoli slaw (sans chickpeas)

x3- I used a small plate so I could fit everything on the placemat for a pic #bloggingproblems

Earlier in the day, I took Bell for a little walk. Sometimes we only make it down a couple of streets and back, but I figure it’s better than nothing.

me and liv5

(she wore those teeny white sunglasses and a hat. I couldn’t handle the cuteness)

and hit up the gym for a little weights workout. I’ve been a HUGE fan of circuits lately, and love going to work out later at night because sometimes I have the whole place to myself. In the morning I have a lot more energy, so if I can squeeze in a cardio DVD, I’ll do it, but like to go to the gym for strength training a couple of nights each week. There’s only so much you can do with a stability ball, and we’re try to decide if we should get suspension trainers to put in the office since we don’t have weights here at the house. It would be a great way for both of us to get in strength training at home.

This morning, I’m off to work, so I just munched a quick bowl of oats and got my snacks ready for the morning:

snacks3

(TJs kale salad, Larabar, Apple)

and get to come home and see my two favorite people for my lunch break- the Pilot is home today 🙂

Hope you have a happy humpday!

See ya later with a Family post <3

xoxo

Gina

  4. Melanie on April 18, 2012 at 11:19 am

I bought the naked2 back a few months ago and I think it’s worth every cent! Especially with their primer potion.

    • Julia on April 18, 2012 at 11:34 am

      Thanks, good to know.
I guess until it comes out in Germany, I’ll have to wait some months…:-(

  5. Elyse on April 18, 2012 at 11:23 am

I love both the Naked palette and the Naked 2 palette. In my opinion you need both 🙂 I love the consistency and application of the shadows (especially when going for a neutral smokier look!). I love mix & matching the matte shades from both sets too!

  6. Stephanie on April 18, 2012 at 11:24 am

I can’t even tell you how much I love the Naked 2 palette. I use it all the time, the colors are exceptionally good, blend perfectly, and the primer potion is one of my favorite things ever. I’ve been using that for years.

  7. Jeni on April 18, 2012 at 11:24 am

I have the original naked and lurve it! These palettes are seriously the best.

  8. Claire @ Live and Love to Eat on April 18, 2012 at 11:25 am

Can’t go wrong with the Naked palette! Love that TJ’s salad!

  9. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on April 18, 2012 at 11:30 am

Oh wow, that eyeshadow palette looks gorgeous! I need to stay far, far away from Sephora!

  10. AR on April 18, 2012 at 11:30 am

  11. Jillian Farmer on April 18, 2012 at 11:36 am

I’ve tried that eyeshadow pallette! My friend bought it and absolutely LOVES it (says its totally worth the invetment), I tried hers and now it is on my Sephora wish list 🙂

  12. Colleen on April 18, 2012 at 11:37 am

yes, do you have instagram? ginanott 🙂

  15. Rachel @ Eat, Learn, Discover! on April 18, 2012 at 11:47 am

Haha – nudge fry, fantastic! Ooh all these new TJ’s salads look yum! Can’t wait to try them when I return to the states. Also, I absolutely *love* my naked2 palette, I use it every day! Bought it back in December, I think the very day it was released (what can I say, I really liked the first one…)

  16. Averie @ Averie Cooks on April 18, 2012 at 11:58 am

Sometimes just 2 blocks is all you can do, need, or muster. Or all that is necessary to totally change the mood and vibe. Fresh air, changing scenery, it’s all good 🙂 You and Olivia look adorable together 🙂

  17. Camille on April 18, 2012 at 12:03 pm

The best part about the Naked 2 pallet is the brush that comes with the set! Exceptionally high quality.

  18. mary on April 18, 2012 at 12:07 pm

I’m impressed that with a tiny baby you find the time and energy to exercise, cook AND wear/buy eye shadow! I guess there are advantages to doing the kid thing in your 20s!

    • Fitnessista on April 18, 2012 at 10:33 pm

it’s an insane juggling act for sure. and many days the eyeshadow.. or any makeup at all… doesn’t happen

  19. Erin on April 18, 2012 at 12:09 pm

I love the Naked 2 palette – I’ve had it for a few months & use it a lot more than the first one! It has a bigger mirrors & a nicer brush, plus it’s metal so it cleans up easier if you should get a smudge of make up on it or something. The potion primer is amazing.

Your dinner pictures are starving me, looks great!

  20. Katie on April 18, 2012 at 12:12 pm

The NAKED 2 has been out! I am surprised you didn’t know!! I would of thought you would of even before it was released 😉

    Happy Wednesday love!

  21. Stephanie @ Legally Blinde on April 18, 2012 at 12:15 pm

Love the picture of you and Livi – adorable. And your phone cover is super cute! Anything teeny tiny is so precious, but sunglasses have to top the list 🙂 That kale salad looks awesome! I’ll have to try that out next time I swing by TJ’s.

  22. Candice on April 18, 2012 at 12:22 pm

Oh Em GEEEE…I didn’t even know that Urban Decay was putting out that gorg palette! *Running to Sephora to pick up stat!*

  23. Chelsa on April 18, 2012 at 12:24 pm

I want to get the Naked 2 palate. Your stirfry skills look just fine!

  24. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on April 18, 2012 at 12:25 pm

You have good taste in makeup! I have the original Naked palette and I loveee it! I love buying makeup but feel guilty about wasting money on other eyeshadows because the Naked one is literally all that I use!

  25. Katy Widrick on April 18, 2012 at 12:52 pm

I got the Naked 2 and it is AMAZING. Between the first and this one, I’m set for life.

  26. Kristen on April 18, 2012 at 12:53 pm

Naked2 is 100% worth it. LOVE!

  27. Patti @ This Starts Tonight on April 18, 2012 at 12:53 pm

“Nudge fry” cracked me up! This is how I stir fry, too. I’m always plating the rice, or actually cleaning a plate on which to plate the rice, or doing ten other things while my veggies are cooking. You’re lucky your hubbie eats veggies! *jealous*

    • Fitnessista on April 18, 2012 at 10:31 pm

he eats everything.. including veggies 🙂

  28. kaila @ healthyhelper on April 18, 2012 at 12:57 pm

Everyone always raves about that TJ’s brocolli slaw! Yet another reason I wish we had one here in upstate ny!! Someday maybe… 🙂

  29. Debbie on April 18, 2012 at 1:26 pm

What do you do with the broccoli slaw? I have a bag but i don’t know what to do with it. Do you cook it or just add stuff to it?

  30. Anna @ The Guiltless Life on April 18, 2012 at 1:32 pm

Ooh I’d love a recipe for the broccoli slaw! I love stirfries, they’re my absolute favourite. And we need a pic of Livi in those white sunglasses! Sounds adorable.

  31. Emily @ Glitz Glam Granola on April 18, 2012 at 1:46 pm

That looks like such a fantastic dinner!! The whole constant stirring thing evades me too, but it looks like yours turned out well anyway! And Livi looks so adorable in that picture like she is looking at the phone wondering what you are doing! And I just got the Naked 2 palate and it is AMAZING! It makes it super easy and quick in the mornings too because they are all right there and blend so well together!

  32. Laura @ She Eats Well on April 18, 2012 at 1:59 pm

Oh! I just saw that salad at TJs this morning and was tempted to pick it up. Have you eaten it before? Those salads are lifesavers, sometimes. Especially when I forget to bring my lunch! I’m lucky there is a TJs in walking distance from my work. And I think your stir – fry looks just fine!

  33. Lindsay on April 18, 2012 at 2:06 pm

so cute how livi is looking right at your phone screen as you’re taking the pic of you guys!! love it 🙂 and your stir fry (nudge) looks amazing- that’s definitely one of my face meals over here!

  44. Talia @ Bite Size Wellness on April 18, 2012 at 4:41 pm

I usually splurge on mac makeup so don’t have much advice to offer on the new palette except for that I love the colors!

  45. Charisa on April 18, 2012 at 5:13 pm

I just found your blog, and I LOVE it. I’ve been reading it for about 2 days straight. It’s been exactly what I need to keep my workouts interesting. Thank you so much!

    • Fitnessista on April 18, 2012 at 10:16 pm

thank you so much for reading! it’s nice to meet you 🙂

  46. Negar M on April 18, 2012 at 5:18 pm

If you have the original naked palette, this one might be a waste of money (if you’re choosing between the two, I think the original one is more wearable for daytime use, but lacks a black shadow for setting eyeliner).

I do like the purple color on the sequel, it’s a lot deeper than the purple on the original. I wonder if they sell it separately….

Have you checked out the Nars eyeshadow duos?

    • Fitnessista on April 18, 2012 at 10:16 pm

no i haven’t, but i LOVE nars! the orgasm blush is one of my staples 🙂
good to know- i have a tarte palette that’s pretty similar, but this might be nice for night

      • Negar M on April 19, 2012 at 2:34 am

If you are set for daytime, go for it! Naked2 is great for deeper, more sultry looks.

I have been playing around with the Nars Orgasm multi-use stick, and I have to say: I love it in a much different way than the regular blush. It wears differently, and works so well in drier climates. You know, just in case you don’t have enough makeup 😉

  47. Jan C. on April 18, 2012 at 6:07 pm

Love this eyeshadow-stays on allllll day and I use the black for eyeliner with slanted brush. WOrth it to have so many color choices.

yay, i’m glad to know you’re a fan!

  49. amary on April 18, 2012 at 7:13 pm

Just wondering how your cloth diapering experiment is going? I was reading on Caitlin’s blog about the great debate on cloth vs disposable. I personally don’t have any children but my sister is a huge advocate for gDiapers and I’m she’s convinced me that one day when I have kids I’ll end up doing it (but we’ll see how that goes..one day many years from now 😉 )

    • Fitnessista on April 18, 2012 at 10:14 pm

it’s going well so far. i’m going to post about it on the family page tomorrow, but so far, so good-ish.

    • Fitnessista on April 18, 2012 at 8:37 pm
