Obeying the Dessert Law

Hi guys! Happy Saturday! Hope you’re having a fabulous weekend so far 🙂 So glad you liked the Fitness Fashion Friday post!

The last class of the day yesterday was Glutes, Guns and Guts.

For the workshop, we each had to grab a bender ball, Glider discs and a stability ball.

balls

We used each tool to use different ways to target booty, arms and core.

Fun with balls: (heh heh)

glutes guns and guts

I LOVED this class and got a lot of new ideas for my personal training clients. (One is listed at the end of this post)

After the workshop, the pilot picked me up and we met friends for dinner at my fave- Seasons 52.

seasons52

I started the Friday party with a glass of Riesling:

wine

and we all shared a mushroom appetizer and some edamame with green tea sea salt:

For my entree, I chose the Tuna Niciose with warm vegetable salad and asked for no potatoes. The veggies in this one were lovely: fennel, roasted tomatoes, red peppers, arugula and kalamata olives.

The portion was HUGE and I almost finished it off- I was starvin’ like Marvin after the workshop. Even though dinner was glorious enough to leave me with a goobery smile on my face, the best part was yet to come… DESSERT 😀

I’m pretty sure that going to Seasons 52 and not getting dessert is illegal some states 😉

I rolled with the usual carrot cake:

and the pilot and I split the Baklava:

Ahhhhhhmazing 😀 It was so awesome to see my friend Hayley and her husband. Hayley was my neighbor, pool buddy and vino companion, but since she’s moved to Atlanta I’ve missed her like crazy. It was good to catch up 🙂

Well I’m heading back to the conference and rocking out my new Zumbie wear! 😀

On the schedule for today:

-Bodyjam (my first time taking this one!)

– Restore the Core

-Zumba Toning

-Steptonic and

-Bikini Bootcamp (I might try to change this class… I just found out it’s a water workout)

See ya this afternoon with a re-cap 🙂

Have a wonderful day <3

xoxo,

G

Today’s tip: Switch up your standard one-leg squat. Standing in front of a stability ball, place one heel on top of the ball and slide it forward slightly. Keeping your shoulders upright and core engaged, sit your booty back and squat making sure your standing knee doesn’t extend past your toe and then come up. Complete 10-12 reps and switch to the other side. Burrrrrrn baby burn 🙂

OMG you are in the Buckhead area??? I LOVE Buckhead, such a classy area!

  3. Shawna on July 31, 2010 at 9:46 am

We are headed up to Buckhead this weekend! I am so making hubby take me to Seasons 52, looks wonderful! This is our first trip to Atlanta any other suggestions on food eats? We’ll have the kiddo’s but thankfully they eat everything we eat. If you get a chance Google “The King of Pops”, he makes his own homemade popsicles! Flavors like Blueberry Lemongrass, Orange Basil, Watermelon Mojito, Mexican Chocolate, Raspberry Lime and much more! I will be hunting him down when we get up there! BTW loved the travel video, you guys are to stinkin’ cute!

Those leg squats sound tough! I can’t wait to hear about the rest of the workouts. I’m not much of a swimmer but I’m interested in getting in the water more to workout.

With desserts like that, how can you say no?

  5. Kelly on July 31, 2010 at 9:53 am

I miss Atlanta…that’s home for the hubby and I. We will have to try Seasons 52 next time we are in-town visiting the family!! It looks amazing!

  6. Emily on July 31, 2010 at 9:54 am

So cool – I was just at that same restaurant! I went with their shrimp flatbread but had the carrot cake dessert shooter as well. You cannot go wrong with cream cheese frosting. 🙂

Enjoy the rest of your time in Atlanta!

What an awesome dinner. I still haven’t been to Seasons 52 even though I live in Atlanta, and my parents live in Florida. fail. I need to convince them to go with me next time I visit!

Thanks for the single-leg squat suggestion! It’d be perfect to do at home for me, since I have a stability ball. Can’t wait to try it. 🙂

It sounds like you’re having a fab time! Kudos on still being able to walk after all those classes! I think I would be passed out in bed by now!

Do you happen to know if your BodyJam instructor’s name was Mysti? If so, she’s one of the instructors from my gym and a Les Mills national trainer. That would be cool if you took Jam from her, she’s fantastic 🙂

Thanks for the new workout move!

I love, love, LOVE carrot cake served in shot glasses! (I think I had it at P.F. Chang’s recently) Carrot cake is one of my favorite desserts EVER!

I have a “dessert law” of my own– eat dessert every day! 😉 (but usually it’s a homemade, nutrient-dense one for me, like raw fudge… or a piece of dark chocolate)

  33. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is on July 31, 2010 at 5:51 pm

I sooo wish we had a Seasons 52 around me! It looks incredible!

  34. Kelly on July 31, 2010 at 9:09 pm

Yay! I love new fitness tips. I’ve been doing squats for so long, it’s nice to mix it up a bit. I’ll be sure to try the “ball” version very soon. 🙂

  35. Tamara on August 1, 2010 at 12:55 am

Could you please tell us more about the bender ball? I want to get one but thought it might be a gimmick….does it get the Gina stamp of approval?

    • Fitnessista on August 1, 2010 at 11:02 am

yes! i loved it! you can do a lot of cool stuff with it– if you do squats with it in between your knees, it takes the emphasis away from your quads and onto the booty and glutes

  36. Brenda M. on August 1, 2010 at 6:25 am

You absolutley amaze me! There’s no way I would be able to walk after all of those classes, much less get up an do another! I saw something on another blog and thought of your love of glass straws…http://bittersweetblog.wordpress.com/ This gal has the glass straws with “art”. You probably have already seen them, but just in case you haven’t I thought I’d share! Hope the rest of your trip is wonderful!
