One man’s treasure

is another man’s trash?

Not too much food or fitness to share this morning. I was feeling pretty run down last night -the teething monster strikes again and it’s a fierce bout- and instead of seeing the gym as a refresher, I knew I was too tired to get in a good workout, so I skipped it.

A beautiful dinner and glass of wine were just what the doc ordered:

Salmon dinner

and then I went upstairs to help the Pilot sort through the last of our unopened boxes. We’ve acquired a closet full of boxes since we’ve lived together: “important stuff” that we’ll not necessarily use, but that we want to keep. We’ve always left them unopened and stashed in the office closet, but figured since we did the room re-shuffle, it was time to go through them and decide what we could get rid of and file/store the rest.

Amongst the stash:

(sorry for the grainy pics- using the Pilot’s phone in not-so-good lighting)

Book collections

sentimental photos

and memorabilia.

Oh Groban you were the first, but you’ve been since replaced in my heart by the bubble (aka Buble).

I also found a few photos (finally! Madre has most of them stashed away) to add to my weight loss story page. It’s about time I updated that thing, so I’ll do that this week when I can scan everything.

In between sorting, storing and Oscar tweeting, we listened to my new favorite Pandora station: today’s hits!

Pandora

Why didn’t I do this sooner?

I used to download my favorite top 40 songs but got tired of them so quickly. This way I can get my Kesha fix without having to commit valuable phone storage space 😉

Speaking of my poor phone, I think we’ll have to find a new option or get it fixed this week. My screen is totally shattered, so maybe it’s a sign I can go back to Blackberry….

Hope you’re having a happy Monday!

See ya later on the Fashion page <3

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: What’s your favorite Pandora station? I usually use Juanes (for chores/cleaning/cooking), Disney (for Oliv.. and for myself), and Don’t Stop Believin’ (loooooove 80s power jams).

Something to do: An oldie but goodie! Quick, dirty and super sweaty:

I really struggle with getting rid of stuff like that – there are 12 boxes at my parents’ house that my Mom keeps begging me to go through and purge! I like Pop / Hip Hop Power for working out when I’m sick of my playlist 🙂

  2. Katie on February 25, 2013 at 11:51 am

I always LOVE going through old stuff. There is always something in there that I wonder why on earth I wanted to keep it, so that usually makes me laugh.

Thanks for reposting the Jumprope HIIT! I had it on my list of workouts this week and this way I don’t have to go looking 🙂

  3. Emily on February 25, 2013 at 11:55 am

Haha I have been listening to Kesha non stop all weekend. Slightly embarrassing, so I’m glad you posted this today! Kesha/Top 40 Pandora is the best.

Also, my hubby and I seriously need to go through boxes in our office as well. We both have accumulated too much junk. It’s such a daunting task!

  4. Tara on February 25, 2013 at 12:11 pm

You should try the Exotica channel. Perfect for cooking!

  5. April on February 25, 2013 at 12:21 pm

Wow! Livi looks a lot like the Pilot did as a baby 🙂

  6. Erica { EricaDHouse.com } on February 25, 2013 at 12:27 pm

Oh my goodness Liv and Pilot look identical!

  7. Sarah @ Yogi in Action on February 25, 2013 at 12:38 pm

Good for you for going through all of that! It’s so difficult to find the time (and the motivation) to look through those boxes. I find I get so lost going down memory lane, I end up wasting hours without any progress.

  8. Vegantickles on February 25, 2013 at 12:50 pm

I don’t think you should get a blackberry. That company might not exist next year due to low sales.

    • Fitnessista on February 25, 2013 at 1:18 pm

      really? anything similar you suggest?

      • Karen on February 25, 2013 at 7:14 pm

The newest BB hasn’t been fully released everywhere, including in the US yet, so it’s a little early to say BB won’t be in existence next year.

Get what you like. If not the Z10 then buck the trend and go for a Windows phone. 🙂

        • Fitnessista on February 25, 2013 at 10:23 pm

          thank you!

  9. Ashley @ Life and Fitness on February 25, 2013 at 12:59 pm

I always feel so accomplished after I clean out and get rid of useless stuff. I love looking through old photos of memories you forget.

  10. Leah O on February 25, 2013 at 1:01 pm

I listen to Glee radio a ton for workouts. It plays a ton of different genres of music which I like. I love Nelly “just a dream radio” too for working out. Always a good song on that station. And Disney, I love disney radio! Before my boy was born that is all I wanted to listen to while working out, so funny

  11. Shaina Anderson on February 25, 2013 at 1:01 pm

The 5 Love Languages!! SUCH a good book and one that every couple should read!

  12. avery on February 25, 2013 at 1:03 pm

You know what is the best? Spotify. It takes a little getting used to, but I pay the 10/month to have unlimited streaming and can make playlists of pretty much anything I want without commercials and I can play them on my phone. You can also share playlists with people too!

    • Fitnessista on February 25, 2013 at 1:18 pm

i have spotify and love it, but pandora picks songs for me that i never would have thought to add on spotify

  13. Brigid on February 25, 2013 at 1:18 pm

I used to be a big fan or Pandora but got tired of the ads. A friend suggested Songza, which I loooove. It has all sorts of different playlists in any category you could possibly think of. It’s different than any other online player and I strongly recommend checking it out. The playlists are kinda hard to explain but if you look at the site it makes much more sense. It’s free and you don’t have to have an account to use it, either. Apps available on Android and iPhones, too.

  14. Jeannie on February 25, 2013 at 1:31 pm

I’ve been liking pandora Latin workout radio for workouts.

  15. Ali @ Peaches and Football on February 25, 2013 at 1:32 pm

We just found the stand-up comedy station on Pandora and that makes for some fun entertainment on car trips!

Our parents seem to find it amusing to drop car loads of our stuff off. I think now that we have the new house they are dying to offload all our childhood toys and leftover stuff. I have boxes stacked upon boxes and am not at all looking forward to the massive sorting project ahead!

  16. lisa garcia on February 25, 2013 at 1:51 pm

Try these Pandora stations for workouts: Dance Cardio and Pop and Hip Hop Power. These stations are soo good for working out!

  17. lisa garcia on February 25, 2013 at 1:54 pm

Oh and Bossanova radio for chilling at home or relaxing in the pool.

  18. Melissa on February 25, 2013 at 1:55 pm

Oh man, I love my “Pitbull” station on Pandora. Almost never fails me!!

  19. Lucie @ Fit Swiss Chick on February 25, 2013 at 2:31 pm

GOsh, your dinner looks so good. And doesn’t it feel freeing when cleaned up? I actually just went to a shop on Saturday and bought a CD. So old fashioned but felt so good. The best part? Sitting in the store and listening to the songs before buying while watching people walking by. I bought Enjoy Bar Jazz Chill out and Birdy. But I am a huge fan of Gossip lately especially for workouts. Jump Rope is my absoluteyl favorite HIIT workout, love it!!!

  20. Anna @ Your Healthy Place on February 25, 2013 at 2:47 pm

Wow such crazy similarities between baby Pilot and Liv! That’s so funny. It feels good to go through the so-called ‘clutter’ though, right??

  21. Missy on February 25, 2013 at 3:18 pm

When I’m in the office at work, I like to listen to the Yoga channel on Pandora. So relaxing 🙂 Otherwise I’m a huge fan of “The Weepies” station since I love alternative/indie music!

  22. Danielle on February 25, 2013 at 3:27 pm

I am such a cleaning freak! I think I organize and clean out my closets and drawers every other week! Somehow I always seem to find something new! You never know what you’ll find tucked away 🙂

  23. Amanda @ .running with spoons. on February 25, 2013 at 4:48 pm

I’m a person who can’t stand clutter, but I absolutely love my stashes of old, sentimental memorobilia… thankfully, most of it is still cluttering up my parents’ house though 😉 There’s nothing quite like movie tickets, notes, pictures, and random knick-knacks from younger years. And did I really just say knick-knacks? Gah! I’m getting old!

  24. Babs on February 25, 2013 at 4:59 pm

It’s such a trap when you start going through old things, especially pictures, but I love it. It’s awesome to remember the memories. But it is a huge time suck.

  25. queenoffitness on February 25, 2013 at 5:20 pm

out of curiosity…what’s your “love language” and the pilot’s? it was required reading for our pre-marriage counseling.

  26. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on February 25, 2013 at 7:24 pm

Livi and the Pilot look so similar at that age! How adorable! I really need to go through old boxes. It’s crazy the stuff you accumulate.

  27. Veterinarianess on February 25, 2013 at 7:40 pm

I’m such a pack rat! I have the hardest time getting rid of things so I have boxes and boxes of stuff in random closets in my house…

  28. Alissa @ Roll of the Spice on February 25, 2013 at 7:44 pm

I am so embarrassed to admit this.. but my favorite Pandora station at the moment is “The Thong Song” radio. I was at a party where it was being played recently (don’t know how THEY stumbled upon it!) and its the greatest collection of 90s jam songs I’ve found! Try it!

    • Fitnessista on February 25, 2013 at 10:23 pm

      haha i will!

  29. Erin @ Axell's Kitchen on February 25, 2013 at 8:03 pm

We are currently going through teething as well..no fun!
I hate going through old stuff but it is great when you find something awesome that you havent seen in awhile!

    • Fitnessista on February 25, 2013 at 10:23 pm

      teething is the WORST

  30. Emily @ Emily Rocks the Road on February 25, 2013 at 8:28 pm

Oh man, you and my to-do list keep reminding me to go through the unpacked boxes in our closet. I love cleaning and organizing, but hate doing it to the hubby’s stuff. I never know what is okay to toss!

  31. Kathleen@newversionofme on February 25, 2013 at 8:44 pm

Ugh…Going through stuff always traps me in – I spend more time looking at everything than doing something with it! You better believe I jam out to Wilson Phillips and Bon Jovi on Pandora!!

  32. Courtney @ Star Systemz on February 25, 2013 at 9:18 pm

I love spotify more than Pandora because you can create and share your own playlists as well as find other peoples which is always fun! I think you would enjoy it! You have inspired me to creep into those boxes that we left unopened in the garage, I should clean them out! They say you have to rid of the old in order to welcome more new things. Hope you have a great week Love + Shine Courtstar

  33. Alexandra on February 25, 2013 at 9:50 pm

LOVE the juanes station- it’s perfect for lounging, running, working… i immediately get up and dance whenever i hear “tengo la camisa negra” pop on 😉

    • Fitnessista on February 25, 2013 at 10:22 pm

      i love that song, too!

  34. Amy on February 25, 2013 at 10:59 pm

Oh my gosh, when I saw that picture of baby Pilot I thought it was Liv (just like a lot of others, it seems like)! They look exactly the same. By the way, I have to admit… Liv is probably the cutest baby I’ve seen! Just had to say it.
