Pretty pizza

Pizza and wine… maybe one of the best combos ever.

pizza7 wine3

Hand me a pizookie and it would be my dream meal.

Last night, we poured some wine, set out the supplies and made “his and hers” pizzas.

pizza supplies

The Pilot rolled with garlic and herb crust, marinara, pepperoni and cheese

while I made mine with gluten-free crust (Bob’s Red Mill that I had in the freezer), marinara, leftover roasted veggies and chicken, and my current condiment love.

mushrooms

Marinated mushrooms! Amazing on salads and wraps, and especially delicious on pizza:

(x2.5ish)

I’m excited to have leftovers for work lunches this week and breakfast. Over easy egg on pizza = foodgasmical. While we were eating dinner, the Pilot told me that they’re making an Anchorman 2 <— NSTPLAW (Not Safe to Play Loudly at Work) I had no idea! Thank goodness- my jokes are getting old.

Recent eats:

Started off my #smoothieaday in May (so excited that so many of you are joining in the fun!) with a mixed berry, spinach, almond milk, banana, hemp seed, Sun Warrior smoothie

smoothie10

It was very refreshing and perfect to take with us when we went to pick up the Pilot from work. His car is getting fixed, and then we’re trading it in.

Lunch:

salad (2)

(Turkey, quinoa, lentil, marinated mushroom salad beast with dried-out carrots and spicy triple layer hummus from TJs + tea)

Off to work!

On the morning agenda: teach cardio/weights, assist pool and weight room 🙂

See ya later on the fashion page with a fun post and announcement.

Have a great day! <3

xoxo

Something to watch:

Anyone want to join in a Tucson Dance Walking class?! Just kidding… but not really.

Something to do: Declare a goal and GO AFTER IT 🙂

inspiration (4)

Under Armour is hosting a challenge to declare a goal and document the journey to achieving it. You can read more details here, but here are some incentives to join in the competition:

At the end of three months, UA will pick 10 competitors that blew them away. These finalists will each win $1,000 worth of UA gear and form a brand advisor group to Under Armour.

The Final Three: From the field of 10, Under Armour will select two women, and the third will be chosen by popular vote online. These three winner will be the new faces of Under Armour.

They will also receive $5000 worth of UA gear, attend a photoshoot, go on quarterly training trips to work out with celeb trainers, meet with a nutritionist and attend Under Armour events throughout the year.

Pretty amazing, huh?

That Trader Joe’s dough has to be one of their very best products – I never get tired of it! Your gluten-free version doesn’t look so bad, either. I could eat pizza for dinner several times a week! 🙂

  2. Stephanie @ Legally Blinde on May 2, 2012 at 11:42 am

Ooh, those marinated mushrooms sound amazing! I’m always looking for something new to add to my salads – I’ll have to look out for these. I’ve got a smoothie planned for later 🙂

  3. Catalina @ Cake with Love on May 2, 2012 at 11:42 am

I am declaring a goal to get back in shaoe and to do my morning workouts, to eat clean and to watch my protein intake! But all these will start tomorrow, since today is my birthday and I plan on eating steak, ice cream, cake, and donuts at work!! 🙂

    • Amy @ Our Four Letter Words on May 2, 2012 at 11:31 pm

Happy Birthday! It’s mine as well. Tomorrow starts my return to fitness as well.

No joke; this really might be my favorite meal ever. I just had pizza on Sunday, and you gave me another craving for it! (I was missing the wine the first time around, maybe that’s my problem?) ; )

  5. Lisa @ Wealth O' Health on May 2, 2012 at 11:50 am

The dance/walk looks like SO much fun! I already do that around my house, so why not bring it outside! Also, that pizza looks super delish! Love!

  6. Julie @ Swim, Bike, Running on Empty on May 2, 2012 at 11:50 am

The TJ dough is the best! Next on my agenda is learning to make pizza on the grill 🙂

  7. Ashley on May 2, 2012 at 11:52 am

dance-walking just made my day. i think i’ll have to incorporate it into daily life (alongside dance cleaning).

  8. Taylor Rae on May 2, 2012 at 11:53 am

I had the exact same dinner last night! Bob’s gf pizza is the beat and paired with a salad it’s the perfect combo!!!

  9. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on May 2, 2012 at 12:00 pm

Mmmm the smoothie looks yummy! I just got back from Australia and the first meal to come out of my kitchen was a green smoothie loaded with kale, spinach, protein powder, cinnamon, a banana, and maca root powder. Feels so good to get greens in my body again! 🙂

  10. Brittany on May 2, 2012 at 12:00 pm

Am I the only one who is curious about the announcement?! Can’t wait to find out. I think we can vote out pregnancy!

    • Shaina on May 2, 2012 at 12:12 pm

oh no, waiting patiently over here! my vote is that she got picked up for a fitness column in a magazine. 🙂

      • queenoffitness on May 2, 2012 at 5:35 pm

i’ve been waiting for someone else to mention it! from the clue pic i am ALSO thinking a photoshoot for a magazine!

    • Fitnessista on May 2, 2012 at 6:13 pm

      ahah definitely not preg.

  11. Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed on May 2, 2012 at 12:09 pm

I love the his and hers pizza! And yay for leftovers. I’ve never tried that garlic and herb crust, only the whole wheat… maybe I’ll be switching it up soon! The mushrooms look tasty too. Love TJs!

  12. Shaina on May 2, 2012 at 12:11 pm

this mornings smoothie: banana, blueberry, oats, sun warrior, a tiiiiiny bit of vanilla, a few chocolate chips, cinnamon and almond milk.

  13. Krystina on May 2, 2012 at 12:14 pm

Pizza, wine and cookies sounds like something my boyfriend and I need to do this weekend. 🙂

  14. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on May 2, 2012 at 12:15 pm

Omg that dance walking video made me laugh. I would totally love to do that if people wouldn’t think I was the crazy person dancing down the street! ;p

  15. Annette @ FitnessPerks on May 2, 2012 at 12:29 pm

We LOVE pizza around here too. I make a mean whole wheat crust too–SOoooo good!

  16. char eats greens on May 2, 2012 at 12:29 pm

Your pizza has my mouth watering!!! I love doughy pizza, especially when you make it yourself!! We haven’t had homemade pizza in a while, I should do that as a dinner idea soon 😉

  17. Blake @ Blake Bakes on May 2, 2012 at 12:31 pm

I would totally dance walk with you!!! I really hope this becomes the next fitness phenomenon.

  18. Crystal on May 2, 2012 at 12:39 pm

Ok, I’m glad I’m not the only person who loves an OE egg on pizza…it’s like an Italian eggs benedict. Heavenly.

    • katie on May 2, 2012 at 1:26 pm

avocado is good on pizza also.

  19. Dani @ RunFitMama on May 2, 2012 at 12:41 pm

Pizza is a staple in our house, too. Only difference is I need cheese!

  20. Tara on May 2, 2012 at 12:43 pm

That’s so funny, my boyfriend and I went to Trader Joe’s this weekend and picked up stuff to make pizza’s ourself. We got the same marinara as you did also. 🙂
As for my smoothie this morning – spinach, banana, frozen mango and pineapple, 1/2 scoop of vanilla protein, spoonful of almond butter and almond milk. Normally I don’t add the protein or the almond butter. I liked it at first, but then after about half way I couldn’t handle the almond butter flavor anymore. So I had to toss it. Which made me really sad. 🙁

  21. Averie @ Averie Cooks on May 2, 2012 at 12:46 pm

His and hers pizzas are a great idea. That way everyone gets what’s on their must-have list and doesn’t get any of the keep-it-off-mine items 🙂

  22. Patti @ This Starts Tonight on May 2, 2012 at 1:18 pm

I will be thinking about this Under Armor competition all day. My goals are so vague! A more specific one would be amazing. Hmm…

Definitely onboard for smoothie-a-day! I’m excited!

  23. katie on May 2, 2012 at 1:25 pm

when you post smoothies, can you give the exact measurements? I never get smoothies right and they taste wrong. I think I need to stop using almond and coconut milk and use water instead. I have whey …but I might go back to real foods only and use only all-natural, plain yogurt instead.

    • Fitnessista on May 2, 2012 at 6:12 pm

      i will definitely post measurements

  24. Pinky on May 2, 2012 at 1:59 pm

  25. Ali on May 2, 2012 at 2:14 pm

  26. Kia on May 2, 2012 at 2:26 pm

I would sooo join a dance-walking class or group. It looks like a lot of fun.

  27. aj on May 2, 2012 at 2:36 pm

Ha! The dance walking video made my day!

Also, the wine pizza combo is happening tonight for me. You are right, there really is no better combo!

  28. anne on May 2, 2012 at 2:41 pm

Hi Gina! Would love to see you make your version of the cauliflower crust pizza, so we could have the taste without the calories :).

Love the Dance Walking video!!! It made me smile after a long day of work 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

  31. queenoffitness on May 2, 2012 at 5:41 pm

…for a moment, before i played the video, i actually thought the dance walker guy was THE PILOT! very strong resemblance: perfect ken doll hair, height, lululemon clothes. he has some MAD moves. what fun! i always dance walk with kids in the hall at the schools where i work. unfortunately i don’t look as awesome as him because i am typically in heels and a dress.

    • Fitnessista on May 2, 2012 at 6:10 pm

omg. that made me laugh so hard. it does look like him!

      • Melissa (Better Fit) on May 3, 2012 at 10:17 am

I thought the same thing! That’s actually what made me click play, because I was confused.

It was a really funny video though, so I’m glad I watched it! You always find these interesting little things, Gina! 🙂

  32. Brynne on May 2, 2012 at 6:01 pm

I LOVE those TJ’s marinated mushrooms!

  33. Melissa on May 2, 2012 at 7:50 pm

I was wondering how many calories on average do you burn from a typical zumba class or what’s the range of calories that you typically burn in zumba? I’m just wondering because I was so surprised at the Bikram yoga #, although it makes sense.

    • Fitnessista on May 3, 2012 at 12:39 am

      i burn between 400-500 teaching a 45-minute class
when i take class, i’ll burn a little less

  34. Anne on May 2, 2012 at 8:28 pm

Got my polar watch today! I LOVE IT! Thanks for the recommendation…it’s so easy to use!

  35. Jani - Healthy happy hippie mom on May 2, 2012 at 8:34 pm

I got my smoothie in today! Pina Colada!

I want to make an inspiration board, everyone is always talking about having one and maybe its time for me to stop being lazy and actually make one.

  36. Becca on May 2, 2012 at 8:37 pm

I am not a pizza fan at all. It always sounds so good but after two bits I’m done 🙂 I do love wine though!

  37. Sara on May 2, 2012 at 9:49 pm

We always do ‘his’ and ‘hers’ pizza too. Because ‘his’ is always OTT with the cheese, meat.. mm.. cheese, meat and… cheese and meat? 😀

  38. Sara on May 2, 2012 at 9:52 pm

Woooahhhhh, dance walking! Oh yeah, I would do that. I mean, in a group, not by myself..

  39. kari on May 2, 2012 at 10:06 pm

All your meals look so delicious and thank you for sharing. i usually make my salads like yours when i have a few items in the ice box. That video was so funny.

  40. Maura @ My Healthy 'Ohana on May 2, 2012 at 11:02 pm

I have a jar of marinated mushrooms that came in a gift basket, and have been really wary of trying them. For some reason, I didn’t think I would like the texture, but you made them seem so yummy! Opening it tomorrow 🙂

    • Fitnessista on May 2, 2012 at 11:27 pm

i hope you like them! so good on salads

  41. Amy @ Our Four Letter Words on May 2, 2012 at 11:36 pm

We have pizza here every Friday. We have been doing it for almost 6 years now. The contest looks fun. I would love to participate but it involves FB. I deleted my account and now get so much more done.

    • Fitnessista on May 2, 2012 at 11:48 pm

      i admire your strength
(as i upload a pic for fb. haha)

  42. kristen @ verbs and vignettes on May 2, 2012 at 11:41 pm

seriously, i don’t think anything is better than pizza and wine. well, except homemade pizza.

i watched a clip for a movie called “ted” at work this week – it’s mark wahlberg and a stuffed bear as his roommate. but it’s from the people behind family guy… so seriously, seriously, not ok for work. i laughed so hard i choked on a cookie.

  43. Kelli on May 3, 2012 at 12:32 am

Love pizza almost more than anything… ! Pizza and green juice – though maybe not together 🙂

In your opinion, which is a better measure of calorie burn – the elliptical today said 506 calories, and the fitbit I was wearing said only 300… which is quite a difference!

    • Fitnessista on May 3, 2012 at 12:38 am

fitbit for sure- the elliptical just gives a general number

  44. Phil on May 3, 2012 at 9:00 am

Good lord, thank god it’s still morning here because those pizza/wine pictures look amazing. I’m going to take a big gulp of my black tea and focus instead on your Sun Warrior smoothie!

  45. Stephanie Burnham on May 3, 2012 at 10:33 am

First of all…I think you are fabulous. You were my first blog to follow and I absolutely love it still!

Second, your bowls of salads, smoothies, oatmeal always look amazing to me…but I wonder how big that white bowl with the handles is? Can you give me an idea. I always think your portions look big (and then I go make BIG portions) and I’m wondering if I’m making too much 🙂 HAHA.

I also love that bowl…where did you get it?

    Stephanie

    • Fitnessista on May 3, 2012 at 11:41 pm

      thank you so much, stephanie!
the white bowl is like a serving bowl for rice or another grain- it’s from kohl’s and is the food network collection. it’s the perfect size for a giant salad
      xoxo

I had pizza and wine last night, too! 🙂 I actually took a group exercise class with some girlfriends, then we went to this place that has great happy hour specials: $5 for a glass of wine and $3 for a personal pizza! Mmm!

    • Fitnessista on May 3, 2012 at 11:40 pm

      whoooaaaa! my kinda place

  47. Elise on May 3, 2012 at 10:54 am

Thanks for sharing the information about the UA contest, I’ve been looking for an opportunity like this! I think I’ll ask my friend to join with me. Your pizza looks nothing short of foodgasmic. How is the GF Bob’s Red Mill? Thanks for sharing!

    • Fitnessista on May 3, 2012 at 11:40 pm

it’s really good! more spongy than regular pizza dough, but it does the trick

  49. Sarah K on May 3, 2012 at 12:53 pm

I want to dance walk around NYC

  50. Sierra on May 3, 2012 at 2:40 pm

I’m on a mushrooms kick too at the moment. I cannot get enough.
