eats

-organic apple + a jar of almond butter to smother said apple with (I don’t mess around, haha)

steamed eggs

-leftover soup

-hummus, red bell pepper, and spinach sandwich on brown rice bread

I LOVED going through your playlist suggestions to refresh my old stretch playlist. Your suggestions, along with some things I found while perusing iTunes last night:

Relaxing Noodle Playlist 2

2.) “Somebody that I used to know” Gotye

3.) “Crack the Shutters” Snow Patrol

4.) “Teardrop” Massive Attack

5.) “You and I” Ingrid Michaelson

6.) “Further Away” Ben Howard

This song will hug your soul:

I was planning on making channa masala for dinner, until the Pilot found out my mom was making chicken and waffles.

A small hint as to where we ended up:

See ya in the morning, friends <3

Haha! I love the chicken ON the waffles.

I used to eat waffles and pancakes for dinner as a kid growing up and used to love it when waffle syrup would run all over my veggies. Crazy but true. Love that you guys roll with the syrup-covered other foods too 🙂

Glad you had a good day and didnt have to cook dinner. Have a great nite!

  12. Liz @ Tip Top Shape on September 15, 2011 at 11:51 pm

I’ve never had chicken and waffles but I went for brunch with a friend and he ordered it. It looked so good I wished that I had ordered it, myself!

I love the Zumba version of Mi Alma Se Muere so much; the Pitbull version was awesome. Thank you!

One dreamy one to add. All my days or Orange Sky by Alexi Murdoch – he’s positively DREAMY! One of our trainers uses all my days as her cool down song, and almost every class people ask her about it!! 🙂

  18. Sara on September 16, 2011 at 6:01 am

I LOVE this musician. He is really special – he was raised in the middle of nowhere in the Northern Territories of Aussie, is blind, never learned English and yet somehow became an international musical sensation. He is singing in one of the indigenous Australian languages – I forget which one, the Aboriginals have many dialects. It actually is real soul music, far removed from the fluff that usually invades our ears.

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2011 at 11:33 am

i played another one of his songs (wiyathul) during stretch the other day, and one of the guests started crying at the end, which is kind of like savasana. she is also from australia and gave me the full history of him -she knew the dialect but i can’t remember what it was- but said she’s seen him play live and it was the most incredible experience.

this song is lovely! thanks for sharing!

  20. Colleen on September 16, 2011 at 6:59 am

I used to be a tour guide in Hershey, PA for a summer job, and chicken and waffles was Milton Hershey’s FAVORITE dinner. I always thought that was a Pennsylvania thing!

  21. Hillary on September 16, 2011 at 7:55 am

Is it crazy that I’ve never had chicken and waffles? Definitely needs to be on my to-do list.

  22. Sarah on September 16, 2011 at 8:09 am

So….I tried Zumba last night for the first time. It was just okay. I didn’t sweat much and thought it would be more high energy…especially after seeing your posts about it here. I guess it was just the instructor. I will def. try again somewhere else!

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2011 at 11:31 am

yes, it was definitely the instructor! try another class before you give up!

  23. Caitlin @ Cake with Love on September 16, 2011 at 8:13 am

I have never understood the chicken and waffles thing. Seems bizarre!

  26. Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life on September 16, 2011 at 9:27 am

Jay and I were *just* talking about the chicken and waffle thing the other night after seeing it on Man vs. Food. Neither of us have ever tried it before, but I’m not sure it’d be for me. I like my waffles sweet…and covered with syrup 🙂

  27. Amy@healthyhungryhappy.com on September 16, 2011 at 9:36 am

  32. Leanne (Bride to Mrs.) on September 16, 2011 at 10:28 am

    Chicken on waffles?!!? What?!

….that doesn’t seem like it would go together.

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2011 at 11:31 am

it doesn’t to me, either. but apparently it’s a big thing

  33. Gina @ Running to the Kitchen on September 16, 2011 at 10:32 am

I’ve never done the chicken + waffles thing but I”m pretty sure my husband would be all over that one!

  34. Sonia (the Mexigarian) on September 16, 2011 at 11:24 am

Never had chicken and waffles before. . . . though my husband has and he enjoys it. I heard there’s a good c&w house out in Oakland. Dunno if I want to make a drive up there but I also hear there’s a Great Harvest Bread Co. up there as well.

The song was beautiful. Don’t know the lyrics but I got warm fuzzies in my soul. 😀 Great way to start off the day. And the simple lines of the art in the video was lovely to watch as well. Thanks for sharing.

  35. Shayla @ The Good Life on September 16, 2011 at 1:15 pm

Wow I’ve never done the chicken and waffles but I heard many many times how awesome it is!!

I wanted to add a song to your noodle playlist – It’s called “More Time” by Needtobreathe. Awesome band and their music is so soulful…here’s the song if you wanna hear it 🙂 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy0fIyongdI

  36. Jessamyn on September 16, 2011 at 5:05 pm

Hey! i’m usually just a lurker, but i had to comment on today’s post. i teach world music classes at the university level, and gurrumul is one of the artists we look at, albeit briefly, when we talk about australian aboriginal music. it makes a lovely contrast from the didgeridoo and bad rock from the 80s. anyways, i’ve always loved your music choices since they are often familiar from our reggaeton/latino music units, but this was something i never imagined finding here! so fun! a great artist who i hope gets more exposure!!

    • Fitnessista on September 16, 2011 at 5:43 pm

i hope he does too- he’s incredible. thanks for saying hi!! xoxo

  37. Ermi on September 17, 2011 at 12:12 am

I loveeee Pitbull – the lyrics to his songs CRACK me up!!!
Some of that stuff is just too funny! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  38. Jenna on September 18, 2011 at 11:37 am

Liked both of those vids. 🙂 You always need some kind of music, I gotta tell you, I love when you post up music, I always go through and look up all the songs, I’m always on the look out for songs to go on my “Pump you up” list, lol.
