Rice crispiest place on Earth

Worth the road trip alone. 😉

Me and my crispy

Hi friends! How’s the morning going? Hope you had a lovely weekend. Ours was a whirlwind of fun adventures, and time with a little slice of Tucson: our cousins, aunt and uncle met us in Disneyland. When we told Liv we were heading there, it was like Christmas. She was so excited!

The three musketeers, all together again. <3

Cousins with olaf

We were only there for the day, but managed to get in a lot of rides and fun activities. Surprisingly, it wasn’t crowded at all -I don’t think we waited in line for more than 5 minutes- and the weather was gorgeous. We saw some shows, the parade, and rode the favorite rides (with only one stop, instead of the usual 5+, on Small World haha).

it was easy to find healthy meal options. I got this amazing fajita salad at California Adventure, with beans, chicken, romaine, guacamole, fajita veggies, and corn chip crispies. I used salsa as dressing and it was fantastic.

Last time we went to Disneyland for Livi’s birthday, we took her to the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique. She had her hair done into the sweetest sparkly bun by a “Fairy Godmother” and it was a cute birthday experience. While she had her hair done, I watched intently so I’d be able to copy the method at home. For this trip, I did her Bibbity Bobbity bun at home (with the same crown and barrette they used last time) and sprayed it with glitter spray I picked up at Party City for $2. I was thinking about doing a video if any of my fellow mom friends are interested!

In frozen land

We only had two ride misadventures while we were there. The first one was on The Little Mermaid. I was in a clamshell with Liv and one of our cousins, and was shocked that Liv wanted to ride it again because she absolutely hates the Ursula room. (And, as an adult, I have to say that they did a great job of making Ursula huge and horrifying. She scares me a little.) We started the ride, and it was stop and go the entire time. The ride would stop, Sebastian’s voice would come over the intercom telling us to remain in our shells, and it would eventually go again. We were fine, and all singing along with the Ariel song, but the entire time I was praying, “Please do not let us stop right in front of Urusla.” Thankfully, it didn’t happen.

The next adventure was on the ladybug ride at California Adventure, which is similar to the teacups and spins around. One of our cousins wanted a slower ride, and the other one wanted to spin and go crazy. So we split up into a fast bug and a slow bug. The Pilot, my uncle, and a cousin were on the “wild” bug, and my aunt, Liv and my other cousin were on the “gentle” bug. As luck would have it, the steering wheel on the “crazy” bug was locked, and the gently glided around the track. Our “gentle” bug was spinning out of control, and my aunt and I were trying to hold the wheel to get it to stop. I think we’ll probably skip the bug next time. 😉

As usual, the dogs had their own Disneyland trip, hanging out with our dog sitter. She spoils them with multiple walks a day, trips out to eat with her, baths, and hanging out by the bay. Needless to say, I don’t think they missed us very much. 😉

Dogs vacay

On Saturday, the fam stopped at our house on the drive back to Tucson, so we had to introduce them to the glory of Pizza Port.

Bacon cheeseburger pizza, chicken pesto pizza, garlic buddies, mac n’ cheese bites, and kale salad.

Pizza port feast

Saturday night, we went to the movies, and Sunday was errands, chores, and me feeling like death with this weird allergy/cold thing I have going on. Thankfully, I’m feeling a little better today. <3

Hope you’re enjoying the morning! Any funny Disneyland or theme park stories to share?? These are the best.

xoxo

I love Liv’s dress and hair! What a cutie! I’ve never been to Disneyland but have been to Disneyworld twice and love it. I’d love to visit the West Coast version!

In 2013 we got on Buzz Lightyear and right away the ride shut down. We were still in the loading area so we were able to walk off but that was a bummer.

Livi’s hair looks so cute. Even with all the shellacking in the world, my hair would not have stayed up like that.

Those Rice Krispie Treats are my favorite too! Anytime anyone I know goes to Disney, I beg them to bring me one back!

Livi’s dress is so cute!! I went to Disney World when I was in 1st grade and I was SO excited to get Barbie and Ken’s autograph for my autograph book haha. They rolled up in a white limo with Skipper too!

It looks like you had a great time! I’ve never been to Disneyland, but I’ve been to Disney World twice, and I’m going back this spring — I’m so excited!

  9. Anita on March 23, 2015 at 7:55 am

Oh my gosh the Ursula room! I’m with you — she’s MASSIVE and maybe a little bit scary. Haha. Liv’s hair looks adorable!

    Always, Anita

At the ripe age of 24 I can’t say I’d ever been to either Disneyland or Disneyworld and I’m so jealous. It looks like a lot of fun but both living overseas and my parents’ disapproval of theme parks have kept me from the experience so far. But I guess I still have a long life in front of me so who knows, right 😉 ??
Also, it’s so cute you did Liv’s Bibbity Bobbity bun. She’s an adorable little princess. Reminds of me of my mum sewing me a pink princess dress herself when I was a little one.

I love Disneyland. I haven’t been in a few years. I should go for a day when I’m in CA for IDEA.

  12. Britt@MyOwnBalance on March 23, 2015 at 8:10 am

Those princess costumes are adorable!! My family always had a great time at Disneyworld growing up. We went three times and each time was better than the last!

  13. Helen on March 23, 2015 at 8:12 am

I love how little girls choose to become Cinderella (by wearing her gown) or another Disney princess and how they imagine the world around when they wear the dress.

Looks so much fun! I used to live right outside of Disney World (I’ve never been to Disneyland) – so I’m a huge Mickey fan 🙂

Great work recreating the hair-do on Liv! And I’ve had many wonderful adventures at all the parks, because I used to work for Disney in Orlando and could go as much as I wanted. Hope you feel all-the-way better soon! 🙂

  16. Julie on March 23, 2015 at 9:08 am

My daughter is 15 now, but from the time she was in kindergarten on, we went to DW 6 yrs in a row! We are BIG fans! I am still dying to go back. In the later yrs, she was all about riding the roller coasters by herself (asserting her independence & giving me a much-needed break) so I would eyeball the people entering the line around her (so I could recognize her “group” upon exit), & I’d go wait for her at the exit. I was waiting outside the Yeti roller coaster in Animal Kingdom FOREVER & starting to get worried, but hadn’t seen anyone else from her “group” & didn’t want to leave to go check w/ anyone b/c the exit was quite a ways from the entrance. I overheard someone walking by say something about a roller coaster being stuck, but thought they were talking about a different ride earlier in the day. When I heard someone else mention something, I stopped them & asked, & sure enough it was the Yeti NOW! I think I lost 10 yrs of my life. My daughter was probably 9 or 10 at the time & very mature, but I was FREAKING OUT & totally regretting letting her talk me into going by herself. I ran to the entrance & asked a worker what was going on, thinking my little girl must be scared to death. The worker was very calm (I was NOT) & asked me if my daughter was in any of the pictures they had displayed on the monitors. They are so organized at Disney – they had pinpointed which cars were still stuck & were displaying previously taken pics from the ride so parents could determine who was still in there. There was a pic of my daughter w/ her arms flung in the air & a huge smile on her face. She was eventually evacuated from the ride by a worker who helped the whole car climb out & take a service staircase down. She was very non-plussed by the whole thing. It still makes me sweat just typing about it!

    • Fitnessista on March 23, 2015 at 4:55 pm

oh my gosh. i would have freaked, too! so glad it ended up being no big deal 🙂

My “fun” Disneyland story goes like this:

We were on a week long trip up the coast from San Diego to San Francisco. I was a HUGE lover of all things Disney and I have been to Disney world many times. This was to be my first trip to Disneyland. We were only scheduled to be there one day. I got sick! Sick…sick. I spent our Disney day in bed. We were staying right next door. So close…yet so far away. That was 12 years ago and I still have yet to make it. Sads…

On the bright side…the Grandparents are in San Diego so I’m hoping a trip will be in the near future.

    • Fitnessista on March 23, 2015 at 4:54 pm

that is such a bummer! hope you get to make it back

  18. Emma @ Life's A Runner on March 23, 2015 at 9:20 am

Bacon cheeseburger pizza…yup! That needs to be in my life now. The fact that it is 9:21am is irrelevant. 😉 I so remember the magical feeling of Disney when I was little – so glad you guys had such a fantastic time!

  19. Jacki on March 23, 2015 at 9:24 am

My notoriously picky daughter, who rarely eats an entire meal, had her first Pizza Port experience this weekend during our SD vacation. She ate so much pizza we literally had to tell her to stop because we thought she was going to get sick! And the kale salad….oh, the kale salad!

    • Fitnessista on March 23, 2015 at 4:54 pm

hahah that is so awesome! and yes, the kale salad is incredible

I’ve only been to Disney once and I have no crazy stories to share. We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge at Disney World and it was really neat! I was an adult by the time I went, though, and I would think the entire experience would be so different (and more awesome) with a child. Glad you guys got a chance to get together with your family!

For Halloween I wore the same princess dress for 13 years and every year I think I would buy a new glitter spray from the store for my hair since I didn’t know where the old one was haha.

Looks like you are having a great time!

We went to Disneyland in January, and Small World (decorated for the holidays) was at the bottom of my list, so it was one of the last ones we rode before we left. I was SO impressed. It’s so beautifully done! If I were a little girl, I would absolutely love it and want to ride it over and over. As it is, I regret that I didn’t get to go on it a second time.

    • Fitnessista on March 23, 2015 at 9:02 pm

we were there over the holidays, too, and LOVED how they did it for the holidays. so magical 🙂
