Shaking for the Ta-tas

Hi guys! How are you?? Hope you’ve had a great day so far <3

I spent the morning shaking my booty at my Zumbathon for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

me

It was SUCH a blasty and we raised over $300 for breast cancer 🙂

me (2)

My friend Jessica, who is an AMAZING instructor, co-taught with me. There’s no way I could teach for two hours straight on my own, so I was so glad to have her help and incredible energy <3

jessica

(PS check out her biceps- redonk, right??)

us

Before leaving the casa, I munched a banana with almond butter—didn’t want to have a full belly. About an hour into class, I had a Clif mocha energy gel, which was probably the best-tasting gel I’ve ever had. It was lovely 🙂

Now, I’m diving face first into a huge bowl of breakfast cookie dough cereal

cereal

and am about to shower my stinky self and scrounge for more food 😉

The Pilot came to the Zumbathon and took pics, along with some video, which we’ll post on Monday <3 THANK YOU so much to the bloggies and friends who came out to dance with us- it was for a truly excellent cause.

Have a beautiful Saturday!

xoxo,

Gina

That looks like so much fun. I’m amazed at how popular Zumba has become. What a comeback! I remember getting the DVDs years ago, probably around the time I had my son, who is almost 8 years old now. Something tells me I need to dig those workouts out again. I need to look into finding a class around here. Maybe I could aim to teach one someday. Gotta have goals, right?

First of all, how are you able to look so amazing after a 2 hour zumbathon and secondly, your calves are hot!! You should be rocking skirts and shorts all year round.

    Hi Gina!

I’m a new reader (new = been reading for a few months) and I really enjoy your posts. They’re so informative! Great job with the Zumba fundraiser. We just held one for my nonprofit center this summer and it was so much fun. My Zumba experience is limited, but it was so fun (and exhausting)! It’s so wonderful to have people like you that are willing to volunteer their time for a worthy cause. We actually had five or six instructors — what great shape you two are in to teach the entire time (as evidenced by the photo above)!

    Have a great weekend,
    Natalie

  43. KimLivesHealthy on September 11, 2010 at 8:47 pm

I’ve never done Zumba before – do you ever teach beginner classes or is it all come-as-you-are without different levels? When you’re in Orlando, let me know b/c I definitely want to take one of your classes! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on September 12, 2010 at 12:31 pm

all different levels can zumba 🙂
i’ll definitely post the deets when i get a teaching job in orlando <3

  44. Elizabeth on September 11, 2010 at 10:04 pm

How did you organize this fundraiser? That’s so wonderful!

    • Fitnessista on September 12, 2010 at 12:31 pm

i organized it through zumba- i had to submit a proposal with the details and when it was approved, they sent me all of my marketing supplies, sign in sheets and donation slip

  45. stacey-healthylife on September 11, 2010 at 11:21 pm
