Side Braid Lovin’

I have no idea how to dress myself anymore.

Even though I’ve read a book on pregnancy fashion, it definitely doesn’t make me an expert, and I’m just getting to the point where all of my clothes look weird on me. I have to find an entirely different way of putting things together and am still trying to figure it all out.

So as far as clothes go, I’m sticking to classics until I get a better understanding of what works right now

and focusing on the things that never fail to add major impact to an outfit: accessories and hair 🙂

hair

I’m loving the fishtail and messy side braid trend. Especially right now, since I’m in desperate need of a haircut.

You can wear a messy side braid, an elegant middle fishtail braid, one thin braid with the rest of your hair up or down, or two small braids from each side joined in the middle.

Tricks:

You can do this with dry or damp hair

Use bobby pins to tame wild strands

Grad the bottom of the braid and scrunch up towards your head a few times for a messier look

How to fishtail:

The thing that makes fishtail braids different than regular braids is that for regular braids you use three strands and weave all three. For fishtails, you separate the hair into two sections, pick a tiny strand from one side and cross it over to the other, and repeat on the other side.

*Here’s a great video* on how to fishtail your hair.

Are you rocking the braid trend? What’s your favorite “I need a haircut and am trying to hide it” hairstyle? 😉

I wish my hair was as long as yours so that I could braid it like this! Lately I’ve just been rocking a plain old ponytail. 😛

So funny that you post this today…I was just remarking this weekend how I am on SUCH a braid kick right now. I have basically wavy hair that I can make super curly, big wavy, or straight (which is tough/impossible right now with mucho humidity). To keep my fur from becoming much too lion-ish, I have been braiding it when I get lazy or once it starts to bug out. My boyfriend said he likes “that thing I keep doing” to my hair….AKA fishtail, which I just learned how to do about two weeks ago. Plus it is a nice lil’ shoulder workout, haha

That looks soooo beautiful! 🙂 And I love your black dress….so chic and pretty! I love making an outfit look special by playing with accessories and hair. Thanks for the side braid tips! Will be using them in the future! xyx

YAY I’m wearing a fishtail today for the first time ever 🙂 I was so impressed with myself when the fiance said “whoa look at your hair! did you get someone to come in and do that while I was sleeping??” LOL

OMG side braids are the BEST for hiding overgrown hair, dirty hair, or just general manginess…LOVE! And I love that little headband of yours, so whimsical! I hadn’t thought to add a headband to my Sunday-morning side braid but now I definitely will, it really pulls the style together!

Are your sandals from Aldo? I think I have the same pair and I LOVE them. I always get tons of compliments too! Your hair is adorable, but I don’t think it would work as well on my since my face is kind of round and I don’t have bangs. Maybe I can try a headband alone though.

You look super cute and I love the braid! Like many others my go to hair style when I am in dire need of a hair cut is a messy ballerina bun …. which I have been rocking EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. for two weeks.

I’m not sure if you’ve already had a look, but topshop.com (you may need to switch from the UK online store to the US online store) have super cute pregnancy outfits (I hate using the word maternity clothes for some reason!). They do some super awesome little dresses etc, worth having a look! xx

Under-boob waist belts are love for pregnancy! Combine with flowy top = shape + bump. Also, love the headband! Supercute.
