Solar Ignition

Hey guys! Happy Indian Food Wednesday! Who’s celebrating?? *Raises roti in the air* You know I am 😉

Thank you so much for the awesome feedback on the Booty Sculpting reader’s request post. Send any reader’s request ideas my way: fitnessista at gmail dot com 😀

So have you heard about the new Beachbody program?

Looks like SO much fun!

Here’s the conversation I had with the pilot last night about it.

Me: So… they have a new Beachbody program……

Pilot: Oh yeah?

Me: Yeah. It’s called TurboFire.

Pilot [starts cracking up]: Wait, TurboFire??? Hahahaha. So Beachbody just puts two words that sound crazy together. Infinity Blast? Lightning Race? Solar Ignition?

Me (laughing): You’re a funny guy. It’s kind of like Insanity but with that blonde girl teaching it… and it looks like some booty shaking is involved. Should I go for it?

Pilot: Yeah, go for it.

It may or may not be on the way 😉 I’m excited to add some new cardio to my routine and will post reviews for ya’ll. As you all know, I was ridiculously in love with Insanity, so this will help fill the void a little 🙂

I can already tell you that Shaun T. is a thousand times more fun to look at than Chalene.

Shaun, I still miss your motivation, your abs and your man tights 😉

It’s good to change things up frequently and TurboFire will help shake things up a little.

Insanity Week 1 Review

Insanity Final Review (I’m going to *try* and hit up the bod pod this afternoon and update with my change in body fat stats)

Something to talk about: Do you use High Intensity Interval Training in your routine? How do you HIIT?? My favorite is 1 minute of recovery, 30 seconds of sprinting, repeat. I’m a huge HIIT advocate 😀 It’s a great way to see quick results, blast fat, and get an effective workout in less time.

Something else to talk about: Who saw Eclipse last night?!?! I can’t wait to see it!!!

I NEED to find mung beans! I’m curious how their texture is though…

Cycling with my husband is def HIIT… I try and keep up with him for a min or two and then always need about a 30 seconds to get my HR back down into the range I’m shooting for. So basically, it’s unintentional HIIT 😉

Yes I have been hearing over and over again about Turbo Fire….I NEED IT! I was just thinking the other day that I want to order a new workout series to spice things up a bit. This may just be what the doctor ordered. Can’t wait to hear what you think of it!

Happy Indian Food Day to you!

Chalene’s workouts are super fun and tough! I have the complete Turbo JAM set and ChaLEAN Extreme. They are great at-home workouts where you never get bored. I wonder what the diff is between JAM and FIRE?!

Thats exactly what I did for HIIT today! I knew I was short on time – my kids were getting a team picture taken and then we were heading to their swim lapathon where I had to count laps. They were getting the picture done just off the trail I run on. Quick warm up, 30 s sprint, followed by 1 min. recovery, cool down. Excellent workout in under 25 min! Sometimes I base my sprint/recovery on distance but I didn’t have my Garmin on today and had less time…

I actually saw all three movies last night at the movie theater starting at 7pm with Twilight, then New Moon and at midnight Eclipse!! I haven’t read Eclipse in 2 years,so I’m sure I have forgotten many of the details in the book. I LOVED the movie. I thought the acting, dialogue, special effects and directing were all better than the last two movies. I really enjoyed it:)).

Is your kitchen ginormous? You have a lot of gadgets, I wonder how you store them all. My cupboards are so bursting with pots and pans that I can’t even dream about a steamer! 🙂

I totally saw Twilight: Eclipse at Midnight and it’s soooooo much better than New Moon.

I feel like this movie was more intense, I think the new director really helped. Plus, I went to an iPic Theater and the crowd was 21+ with booze available! I loved the movie but the huge cosmo I had made it that much more awesome 😀

YES, I do some HIIT mixed in with my workouts and I think it’s great!!

I totally LOVE the snobby joes! The recipe I made last night left me with TONS of leftovers though – hope I can get through ’em all! 😉

    2. That program looks awesome!!! I am a huuuge fan of TurboKick (lol) and that one looks fun, ha espesh that little booty shaking part i saw on stage 😀

  15. Caroline on June 30, 2010 at 5:20 pm

Wow, that program looks so insanely fun! I wish I had the money to invest! I’m not currently doing HIIT, but as soon as I move (in 3 weeks, eek!) I’ll have an apartment gym and plan on getting up 20 minutes early to hit up the treadmill and work some beautiful intervals into my life! 😀

  16. Stephanie on June 30, 2010 at 5:21 pm

I’m certified to teach Chalene’s Turbo Kick class and I don’t teach right now but I take the class at my gym at it is a blast! You’ll love Chalene!

  17. melissa g. on June 30, 2010 at 6:00 pm

I have been obsessed with Chalene for years! I do all her workouts: turbo jam, turbo kick, chalean extreme, piyo, hip hop hustle and now turbo fire. Chalean does NOT disappoint. Those fire drills buuuuuurn!

  20. Kelly on June 30, 2010 at 6:54 pm

I researched steamers and could not find one w/ BPA-free plastic. So I am continuing to use my stainless steel steamer.

  21. Beth Schaffer on June 30, 2010 at 8:04 pm

Yay! I just ordered my TurboFire..(had no idea Chalene Johnson put out new workout..loooove TurboJam and Chalean extreme..but have hit a plateau and need to kick up my cardio!)You totally made me giggle with your “roti shawl”. 🙂

  22. Sue on July 1, 2010 at 6:32 am

Haha! I totally agree that Shaun T is way more fun to look at. I do love Chalene though just in a much different way! I just started Turbo Fire and really like it so far. Looking forward to your thoughts on it.

  23. Kera on July 1, 2010 at 11:09 am

Look what you made me do! I am so excited for TurboFire – I ordered it today! I am looking forward to adding it to my workout mix. Thanks for letting me know about it – I am stoked!

  24. andrenna on July 1, 2010 at 1:50 pm

I LOVE Insanity! I’m thinking of doing TurboFire after I finish with Insanity (I’m only on Week 3). I’ve been waiting patiently for you to get back in the bod pod to see your results! Review TurboFire for us!!! 🙂

Also, I did Shaun T’s Hip Hop Abs workout and he has a completely different attitude in that video. He has a lisp and he seemed…fruity. Yeah, it’s shocking!

  25. Dee on July 1, 2010 at 8:41 pm

I really, really want to buy TurboFire! But alas, I can’t. 🙁 Where’s my money tree? lol… I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it!
