SP hash + a new barre burner {Video}

Hi friends 🙂 Congrats to those of you who have been killing it with Summer Shape Up so far. I can’t believe week 1 is almost over! I’ll be posting some of your awesome check-ins, along with the Stitch Fix giveaway winner tomorrow morning. If you’re subscribed to my newsletter (just leave a comment below and click the box to sign up if you haven’t already), you’ll also get your email with the Week 2 password. Just a head’s up about the SF giveaway: only 4 people have submitted video entries so far. There are 4 winners for the video portion… just sayin’ 😉

Before we get to today’s workout video, I to share an amazing breakfast I’ve been enjoying lately:

Omeletandsphash

2-egg omelet with sautéed jalapeño, turkey, crumbled goat cheese, salsa verde and sweet potato hash. For the hash, I boiled a chopped sweet potato, and then sautéed it in a skillet with some butter, smoked paprika, chili powder, cayenne, cumin, salt and pepper. It was one of those simple recipes that fell off the radar– I’m glad to have to back.

Thank you so much to those of you who have recently subscribed to our new YouTube channel. We’ll be posting weekly dance fitness videos (Bellydance, Zumba, jazz, hip hop…) in addition to bodyweight strength workouts you can do anywhere.

Here’s one that Sasha and I recently made:

Sasha’s teaching this one: a short barre burner, emphasizing core and leg strength. My flip ran out of camera space halfway through, so we got to film the left side twice– my legs were screaming! Of course, there’s the necessary blooper at the end.

If you’re doing Summer Shape Up, I’d recommend adding this quick video in at the end of tomorrow’s workout and enjoying today as a well-deserved rest day. If you’re not following the Shape Up and want a quick, intense leg burner, check it! Please let us know what you think and what you’d like to see in the future 🙂

Have a great day!

xoxo

    I wanted to swapped my rest day for yesterday, but I’m glad I didn’t: I was actually less sore today after yesterday’s workout! =) Today’s active recovery was POP Pilates for Beginners (I’m such a neewie!) I watched your barre burner video to be prepared for tomorrow and I’m excited and terrified at the same time 😉 Thank you so much, Gina, your hard work is really appreciated here!

    I did a combo cardio (1 hr swim) and active rest with a 90 min yoga class tonight. They almost had to kick me awake at the end… I am feeling this! Legs aren’t as sore today yea! Thanks so much!

    This has been one of those weeks where my schedule is totally off and I haven’t worked out the number of times I’d have liked to, but I did the first part of Workout 1 (minus the HIIT; ran out of time). I’m excited about #2!

    I love the youtube channel and how you also write out the workout in text! That’s super helpful. Thanks for sharing your fitness tips as always! 🙂

    I completed my 45 minutes of steady state cardio + a tempo blast at the end this morning. I really liked adding in the tempo blast! Loving SSU!

    Hey Gina,

    I’m super busy right now so I’m unfortunately not able to participate in the Summer Shape Up. But, I’d really love to complete it later this summer when my life has slowed down a little. I was just wondering if all of the information will still be accessible (with the password of course) towards the end of the summer?

    Thanks so much!

    Since it’s a rainy day here in PA, I think it’s a GREAT day to try the barre workout and sweet potato hash! Maybe followed up with some hot cocoa. Where is summer?!
