Spring Fever Workout + Playlist

Helloooooo 😀 Happy Indian Food Wednesday! Hope you’re having a lovely morning.

I overslept by an hour (how does that happen?!) and am looking a little like this….

morning Source

Hahaha.

At least breakfast was legendary 😉

french toast

I made some basic brown rice French toast, cooked in organic butter

toast

and a blueberry sauce by simmering organic blueberries, along with some Meyer lemon peel and the juice of 1/2 lemon.

sauce

Plopped said sauce onto said toast,

french toast (2)

and enjoyed it with some green tea + more lemon.

tea

Beautimous 🙂

Today is a little cray cray, per usual, but I’m stoked for dance tonight 🙂

The plan:

-Take the madre to work (she let my bro borrow her car since his is acting up)

-Walk Bella

-Yoga with friends

-Work all afternoon

-Acupuncture tonight

-Dance!

See ya later today <3

xoxo

Gina

Something to talk about: Are you a morning person, or do you hate the mornings like me? It’s definitely gotten better since I started seeing my homeopath (my hormones were backwards- low in the morning and high at night, which gave me a second wind at night), but I don’t think I’ll ever be a fan of waking up early 😉

Something to do: Check out this Spring Fever playlist and workout recommendations! I made it this morning just for you 🙂 New tunes to get you through your next cardio sesh and if you’d like, the suggested intensity changes can be done on cardio equipment of your choice (elliptical, spin bike, treadmill).

tree

1. “Don’t Let Me Fall” B.o.B [Warm Up]

2. “Whoa Oh (Me vs Everyone)” Forever the Sickest Kids [Quick steady state]

3. “What the Hell” Avril Lavigne [SPRINT during every chorus and then bring it back down to a quick pace during the verses and bridge]

4. “F*ck You” Cee Lo Green [Recover- steady state, a little slower]

5. “E.T. (feat Kanye West)” Katy Perry [Climb- every 30 seconds add in resistance or increase your incline- decrease your speed as necessary. Steep, heavy climb]

6. “Born this Way” Lady Gaga (It took about a week for me to *like* this song, and now I love it) [Quick tempo]

7. “Fed Up” DJ Khaled (feat Usher, Young Jeezy, Drake and Rick Ross) [Rolling hills- add in resistance every 30 seconds, hold it for 30 seconds, then bring it back down]

8. “Jungle Flames” DNC [SPRINT- sprint during the chorus. You’ll want to- it’s a fun song]

9. “Alegretto” Bond [Climb with tempo. Add in resistance and speed up your tempo along with the changes in the music- you’ll feel it]

10. “Rolling in the Deep” Adele [Cool down and stretch]

I really hate waking up in the mornings! Even just an hour later would be perfection.

  2. Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles on March 2, 2011 at 11:24 am

I have a hard time getting out of bed right when my alarm goes off (have to hit snooze!), but I like getting up early and not feeling rushed. Enjoy your day! 🙂

  3. Jackie on March 2, 2011 at 11:26 am

thanks so much for the playlist! and wow your breakfast looks sooo good!!

  4. Ashley on March 2, 2011 at 11:28 am

B.O.B is coming to my school to perform soon. This just reminded me of that haha. I’m sorry you woke up late, at least your breakfast was epic 🙂

  5. Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete on March 2, 2011 at 11:29 am

I don’t *like* getting up early but I never regret it. I always feel good later on in the day. When I sleep in too late I just feel “off” — almost like I got too much sleep. I’m better off getting my ass out of bed at 6am on weekdays and around 7am on weekends.

Your french toast looks great — did you use frozen blueberries in the sauce? Or would it matter?

  6. Jessica@FruitandVeggieTales on March 2, 2011 at 11:35 am

I was forced into being a morning person by my babies! lol But if I had a natural wake up time, I think it would be around 9! the tree picture is nice, it made me feel very serene!

  7. aj on March 2, 2011 at 11:38 am

I don’t get up much earlier than necessary. I’m usually not one to get up super early in the morning to workout because it just feels like torture to me! I’d actually rather workout right after my workday to work off some stress of cubicle life! Also, I can never fall asleep earlier enough to get enough sleep if i wake up super early in the morning. sleeping about 11pm-7am is my perfect time frame!

    • Fitnessista on March 2, 2011 at 1:00 pm

that’s usually what i do too.. unless i get sucked into a book (like last night!)

  8. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on March 2, 2011 at 11:41 am

I am such a morning person. As soon as I wake up, I’m awake. I’m like an old granny though cause I don’t like staying up past 9 or 10

  9. Allison @ PickyEatingRD on March 2, 2011 at 11:42 am

In college i was a total night owl. Since i have been working for 3 years now i have become more of a morning person and fall asleep instantly at night. On the weekends i can still sleep super later though!

  10. Kelly @ Laughter, Strength, and Food on March 2, 2011 at 11:42 am

I am definitely a night person. And…I hear ya on “Born This Way.” I was not a fan at all, but it grew on me!

  11. Mandy (theamazonprincess) on March 2, 2011 at 11:43 am

I’m absolutely not a morning person! I have the hardest time getting my booty out of bed, but once I do I’m always glad I got up. 🙂

  12. Gina on March 2, 2011 at 11:44 am

I overslept this morning too! I’m definitely a morning person, and get the most done then, but I must’ve rolled over after turning off the alarm. I’m bummed that I missed my morning gym class, but I guess my body needed the sleep. Hope your day is back on track!

  13. Lindsey on March 2, 2011 at 11:45 am

I am 100% a morning person and basically dead to the world after 9pm 🙂

  14. mi-an dela cruz on March 2, 2011 at 11:46 am

I can be a morning if i have to be and if i got my 8-9 hrs of sleep. but i usually wake up around 830 am. not too early, not too late. sounds good to me. and thanks for putting up new playlist!!!! i’ve been looking for a new one!!!

  15. alicia on March 2, 2011 at 11:50 am

Not a morning person!! With three boys under 10, a morning workout would make my life so much easier, but I just cannot get myself up early enough to do it. Sometimes I feel like a lazy bum, but I have to tell myself it’s just not for everyone.

  16. Ashley on March 2, 2011 at 11:59 am

I’m seasonal! During the winter/cold months when it’s dark out I HATE mornings, but when it warms up and starts to get sunny earlier, I LOVE waking up early to get in those extra day-time hours! : )

    • Fitnessista on March 2, 2011 at 12:59 pm

that’s true- so much easier to wake up when it’s not dark and freezing

  17. Lisa on March 2, 2011 at 12:01 pm

Hahaha k first of all, that picture is HILARIOUS. Why are non-human animals so funny?

As for me, I am definitely a morning person. At night, I can’t think straight, so I usually reserve that time for being lazy, watching movies, reading “fluff” etc.

    Have a great day! 🙂

  18. Lauren on March 2, 2011 at 12:07 pm

Love “Jungle Flames”! Thanks for sharing!!!

    • Fitnessista on March 2, 2011 at 12:58 pm

it’s my fave song right now!!

  19. Allison @ Food For Healing on March 2, 2011 at 12:08 pm

those blueberries on that french toast looks sooo good. Maybe i should make french toast tonight for supper, i always forget about that.
i am definitely not an early morning kind of person, i always wake up late and have to rush to get to work on time, i cant help it.

  20. Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries on March 2, 2011 at 12:09 pm

I’m a 100% morning person 🙂 I wake up early naturally, and I love getting so much accomplish so early in the day

    • Fitnessista on March 2, 2011 at 12:58 pm

      i’m jealous!

  21. Laura @ prettylittlewords on March 2, 2011 at 12:27 pm

Are those wild blueberries? They’re so tiny and cute! I use the dried wild bluebs from TJ’s in my oatmeal 🙂

    • Fitnessista on March 2, 2011 at 12:58 pm

      yes, the frozen ones 🙂

  22. LisaG on March 2, 2011 at 12:29 pm

I automatically wake up early probably because of the kiddos schedule to school. That picture has to be a pecan tree from my neck of the woods. I see some spanish moss!

    • Fitnessista on March 2, 2011 at 12:57 pm

yep! i took it at the valdizzy dog park

  23. Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table on March 2, 2011 at 12:34 pm

I’m not a morning person at all, but I just got the Sleep cycle app and it has helped tremendously with my snooze-button habit.

Love the song suggestions. Cee Lo has been my new “pump up” run song. 🙂

  24. Tyler Ramey on March 2, 2011 at 12:51 pm

how did I KNOW we would have the same Spin songs?! 😀 <3 I love What The Hell, and sometimes to throw them off we will crank up the resistance and do some hill attacks during the chorus! Ouch on the quads, but ohhhh so good.

    • Fitnessista on March 2, 2011 at 12:57 pm

of course we do- we have good taste 🙂

  25. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on March 2, 2011 at 1:01 pm

I love the workout music! Just what I needed for some cardio motivation! 😀

Definitely a morning person over here– I have to be, since my workday starts at 6am! I love feeling productive and getting a lot done early in the day, though sometimes it takes a little coffee boost to get me started…

  26. J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) on March 2, 2011 at 1:10 pm

I don’t like getting out of bed, but once I’m out I become energetic pretty quickly.

    That French toast looks yummy!

  27. Tina on March 2, 2011 at 1:12 pm

I’m acutally a morning person! I am the most productive in the AM!

  28. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on March 2, 2011 at 1:12 pm

Ooh love the playlist! I’m definitely a morning person through and through- I don’t have a ton of energy in the evenings, which definitely has disadvantages since that’s when all my friends like to go out. However, if it’s an early-morning workout get-together, I’m there! 🙂

  29. Mary on March 2, 2011 at 1:12 pm

haha that picture is hilarious. I used to be a morning person but grad school has turned my into a late night owl & I don’t like it.

Also, your blueberries always look awesome… are they frozen?

    • Fitnessista on March 2, 2011 at 2:04 pm

      yep!

  30. Roselyn on March 2, 2011 at 1:21 pm

I wasn’t really a morning person until the kids came. Now, I get everything done by lunchtime, and its all downhill from there.

Thanks for the playlist! Gonna check those out. 🙂

  31. Heather (heathers dish) on March 2, 2011 at 1:33 pm

I love sleeping in but once I’m up I’m staying up…until nap time of course 😉

  32. Clare @ Fitting It All In on March 2, 2011 at 1:42 pm

I’m a huge morning person, and I’m glad! I pop out of bed and usually wake up before my alarm. It does get tricky when I want to go out with my girlfriends though…I crash!

  33. Stefanie @thenewhealthy on March 2, 2011 at 1:45 pm

I am totally not a morning person–but I’m working on it because I really want to be!! I just stay up way too late to enjoy waking up! haha

  34. Michele on March 2, 2011 at 1:46 pm

I just started reading the raw food detox diet and I was wondering what your take is on her idea for food combining. And also, her idea for only eating fruit in the morning? Have you tried this?

    • Fitnessista on March 2, 2011 at 2:04 pm

i dont believe in food combining- i think our bodies are smart enough to take the trash out on their own
fruit in the morning (or alone) is a good idea, but i dont like to follow it 🙂

  35. Jordan on March 2, 2011 at 1:49 pm

I absolutely hate waking up in the mornings, but once I’m up, I always enjoy it. Additionally, my most productive time of the day is in the morning, so it is always worth it.

  36. Meghan on March 2, 2011 at 2:05 pm

I’m almost too much of a morning person. I’m sure I’ll relish my early birdness when I’m older but now its kind of annoying that I struggle to stay up/ out as late as everyone else my age. ps. that blueberry sauce looks delish, blueberries are so magical 🙂

  37. Bianca @ Confessions of a Chocoholic on March 2, 2011 at 2:19 pm

Great playlist! I am loving Adele lately.

  38. Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife on March 2, 2011 at 2:24 pm

love the playlist and love your b-fast 🙂 Amazing, Gina. Have a good one, lady

  39. Christin@purplebirdblog on March 2, 2011 at 2:26 pm

I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of the song F*ck You. It’s the catchiest song in the history of EVER! 😀

    • Fitnessista on March 2, 2011 at 2:59 pm

      i’m obsessed 🙂

  40. Beth @ DiningAndDishing on March 2, 2011 at 2:29 pm

I used to HATE mornings until I started early early newscasting in college. Once I realized how productive I am before the rest of the world is awake and how nice it is to be off early – I’ve been hooked on early starts :).

  41. Kim on March 2, 2011 at 2:29 pm

I keep trying to be a morning person, but I’m also trying to accept that it might never happen.
I love this workout you made! I hope you do more like this with play lists. Fun!

  42. Maria on March 2, 2011 at 2:36 pm

I don’t love waking up early, but I’d rather wake up early to get my day started with than sleep in late and feel like I’ve wasted half of the morning. When fiance and I were on vacation in Mexico, I would wake up early so we got a good spot on the beach. I think he hated me 🙂 Thanks for posting the workout playlist!! My iPod was pretty stale.

  43. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on March 2, 2011 at 2:52 pm

Morning workouts…ugh. By the nature of my life, I have had to become a morning workout person b/c if I dont do them in the a.m., they just don’t happen but it’s not my body’s natural go-to, at all. I once posted some a.m. morning workout tips…I need to go re-read my own tips half the days..haha!

I love the bloobs on your french toast!

And those plates…I just realized that the new plates I picked up (at marshall’s super score!) but they are square, white, and remind me of yours. Didnt notice yours before. I was just there the other weekend and they randomly had a great deal on plates so I took advantage of them. I love them for photography purposes.

Have a great day, Gina 🙂

  44. Bonnie on March 2, 2011 at 3:13 pm

I’m a morning person for sure – just love getting up and getting to it! I used to love morning workouts too, but ever since winter hit and due to my flexible schedule (I’m a personal trainer so I HAVE to be peppy in the a.m. 😉 and then normally have a break mid-afternoon), I wait until the warmest time of day to run and usually get my workouts done now in the afternoon too. Guess I’ve changed my body’s clock a bit this season!

I love the idea of a blueberry sauce without lots of sugar (or even sugar substitutes) but rather with lemon! Great idea, less calories, and I’m sure still delicious. Glad you enjoyed it. Have a great (crazy!) day! 😀

  45. Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn on March 2, 2011 at 3:14 pm

See the problem with mornings is that I love waking up early, but I ALSO love staying up late! Kind of a problem;)

  46. Amanda on March 2, 2011 at 3:38 pm

Off topic a bit– do you know or have any reccomindations for books on hormonal imbalances?
    Thanks 🙂 🙂

    • Fitnessista on March 2, 2011 at 8:08 pm

      what problems are you having??

      • Amanda on March 3, 2011 at 2:53 am

I believe me chin acne Is due to a hormonal imbalance.
As well as having horrible PMS while on the pill, mood swings,
hard time sleeping, tired all the time. Pretty much everything :/

        • Fitnessista on March 3, 2011 at 10:00 am

so you’re still on the pill?

          • Fitnessista on March 3, 2011 at 10:22 am

i’d check to find a local homeopathic doctor or acupuncturist. ask around- word of mouth is the best way to find amazing people to help

          • Amanda on March 3, 2011 at 4:21 pm

Yes I’m still on the pill. I’m
Thinking I should get off it though. Synthetic hormones suck!

          • Amanda on March 3, 2011 at 4:23 pm

Last question- what’s the thing you follow now that your off the pill?

  47. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on March 2, 2011 at 3:52 pm

In college, I was a total night owl. Getting up before 10am scared me. Now it’s totally opposite! Since having kids, I am a total morning person. Now, staying up past 10pm scares me!

  48. Caree @ Fit-Mama on March 2, 2011 at 3:55 pm

ooh, fun play list!! And that french toast looks awesome!! i love me some french toast!

I am definitely not a morning person. I am trying to be…as I get older, I am little by little…but I definitely need my time to “wake up” for sure!

  49. Jeana on March 2, 2011 at 3:56 pm

    G!
I was wondering if you could a little post about diabetic diets or give some advice/recipes!

    Thanks.

    • Fitnessista on March 2, 2011 at 8:07 pm

sure- i’d have to do some research though. i’ve only had two clients who were diabetic and it was a while ago

  50. Jeni @ stepping out on March 2, 2011 at 3:56 pm

I’m definitely a morning person…by that I mean that I thoroughly enjoy the hours of 7-12. I’m not a big fan of getting up at 5:20 (as I have been for the past two years every school day…I’m a teacher)
I look forward to weekends, summer break and next fall when I’m the student 😀
