Stitch Fix wins

Hi guys! Hope you’re having a great afternoon <3

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Stitch Fix (<– referral link) post, and it’s because it’s been a little while since my last great one. I’ve kept a couple of pieces here and there, but nothing that would take up an entire post. I have a pretty amazing picture (that will never be posted) of me trying on some cargo mom jorts. That’s the beauty of Stitch Fix; you try everything on at home, keep what you like and sent the rest back. When I posted a pic from my recent fix on Instagram, I got some requests to share the details, so here they are 🙂

I’ve minimized my wardrobe and have been experimenting with a capule-ish style of living, which has prevented random shopping purchases. I think the only things I’ve bought since the great closet clean out were the skull tank (to wear around the house and to the beach) and a thrifted dress for $5. For my staple wardrobe, there were some classic pieces I was looking to add to the mix. With my last box, I requested some of the things that I hadn’t found for summer staples (like a denim jacket, neutral maxi dress and neutral dressy top), and Stitch Fix hit a home run. I loved everything! It included a variety of high-quality and versatile pieces that would also transition well into the fall season.

Here are the latest Stitch Fix wins:

A grey and cream Tart dress.

An awesome black Tart dress with flutter sleeves. It fits well, and is one of those perfect dress-up or dress-down LBDs:

This cobalt tank top with NEW black skinnies.

Top and skinnies 1 of 1

I’m embarrassed to show you guys this, but here we go. This is the last pair of black skinnies that Stitch Fix sent me almost two years ago: the BEST Sanctuary pants, which are on sale right now.

black pants (1 of 1)

While downsizing and sorting through my closet, I KEPT THESE. Why? I was still wearing them!! Hahaha. I was like “Oh, I’ll just wear a long top over it. No one will see my booty.” That is how much I truly loved those skinnies; apparently they had too many trips to the trampoline park with Liv 😉 They had a very long life, and somehow Stitch Fix knew I was due for a new pair.

Here’s the detail on the top:

From previous boxes, I’ve been wearing the heck out of two things:

This Kut from the Kloth jean jacket is my new everything jean jacket. I had a chambray blazer a couple of years ago, but it’s been years since I’ve had an awesome jean jacket.

This blue maxi dress:

Maxi 1 of 1

Super comfy it with sandals and a jean jacket, or out with wedges and a blazer. It’s the perfect neutral maxi.

I just signed up for it the other day! I’m not very good about changing up my style on my own so I am excited to see what they send!

    • Fitnessista on September 17, 2014 at 7:25 pm

it’s a lot of fun!! they pick things i never would have found on my own 🙂

  2. Domi @ Eat, Pray, Lift on September 17, 2014 at 7:41 pm

That blue maxi is stunning! Perfect for “autumn” in socal, haha. 😉

I have yet to find a pair of jeans that I really laaahve. If they fit over the donk, they usually get all weird and baggy at the top and from the knees down. Bahhh.

    • Fitnessista on September 17, 2014 at 8:09 pm

      thank you so much!!
yes, finding good jeans with a booty is a struggle

  3. Rachel on September 17, 2014 at 7:56 pm

Dangit! I thought you were gonna tell us you were preggo again. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on September 17, 2014 at 8:09 pm

hahah nope 🙂 hopefully this time next year i will be!

      • Rachel on September 17, 2014 at 10:17 pm

        SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!

  4. Sky on September 17, 2014 at 7:56 pm

Love the LBD and maxi dress!
I was getting monthly fixes and it seemed to me like they weren’t even reading my style profile. So I usually just kept the jewelry and sent the rest back. The last fix was so disappointing that I just had to cancel it but I have to admit that I was always excited and full of anticipation when I was scheduled to receive a fix.
On another note, your hair always looks amazing in the photos – what is your daily routine and which products do you use?

    • Fitnessista on September 17, 2014 at 8:08 pm

i got a couple of duds in there too. and totally agree about it feeling like christmas when a fix is scheduled!
thank you for the hair compliment 🙂 i stopped blow drying it for the most part, and after it air dries, i used a straightener to make some waves (since i killed my curling iron in italy).
right now i’m using nexxus shampoo and conditioner, moroccan oil while it dries and that’s pretty much it 🙂

    • Liz on September 17, 2014 at 8:10 pm

That’s exactly what happened to me! I had to cancel after a few boxes because it was obvious that they weren’t reading my feedback. Kind of a bummer since everyone else seems to really love this company.

      • katelyn on September 17, 2014 at 10:30 pm

Same- it was really bad. So bad that it’s not worth the hassle of using my credit from referrals.

  5. Jacki on September 17, 2014 at 8:01 pm

Random question – what size do you do in those Sanctuary pants? They look awesome and I’m trying to decide between XS and S. I live nowhere near a Macy’s 🙂

    • Fitnessista on September 17, 2014 at 8:05 pm

they’re amazing. mine are an XS

    • Maggie on September 18, 2014 at 12:36 pm

Same experience. The real bummer for me is that the quality of the items seems to be so poor. Two items that I absolutely LOVED fell apart after very minimal wear. Even though I really want to give it another go, I can’t afford to pay Ann Taylor prices for H&M quality

      • Fitnessista on September 18, 2014 at 2:43 pm

i’ve noticed that the quality difference between the different brands is huge. some of my tanks haven’t lasted very well, but the sanctuary pants and dresses still look great

  6. Yaara Leve on September 17, 2014 at 8:15 pm

That blue maxi is gorgeous! I love how you styled it too. Ooooh and that slit ;)–delish!

    • Yaara Leve on September 17, 2014 at 11:30 pm

Also–forgot to ask what brand is it? I love it!

  7. Amanda on September 17, 2014 at 8:24 pm

My black Sanctuary skinnies are in the same shape but I just can’t part with them. I might need to order a new pair from Macy’s so thanks do the link.

  8. Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious on September 17, 2014 at 8:42 pm

I’d love to try Stitch Fix, but right now I’m not loving my body with this 9 month injury and all. I still fit in my clothes, but need to tone up and feel out of shape. I don’t understand how I can feel that way even though I’ve continued to maintain my fitness throughout, but I do. My absolute favorite jeans are Mango. I always buy mine from there. I discovered them when I lived in Spain.

    • Fitnessista on September 17, 2014 at 8:45 pm

sorry to hear you feel that way :/ who knows, it could be a nice little perk me up! getting a stitch fix made me feel awesome after i had liv and was not quite back into the “shower regularly and dress yourself” routine 😉

  9. Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment on September 17, 2014 at 8:47 pm

A great “fix” Gina! Everything looks great on you. Enjoy your new things. 🙂

  10. Noelle @ The Rebel Manifesto on September 17, 2014 at 9:03 pm

I love that blue maxi, the slit really makes it!

I’ve been thinking about trying stitch fix; every time I go out shopping I end up with accessories and makeup, not the clothing I went out for in the first place! The struggle.

  11. RachelG on September 17, 2014 at 9:54 pm

I just did a fix and kept 3/5 of the pieces. My new infinity scarf and pleather jacket are PERFECT for Fall. I also kept a light long sleeved casual top that goes perfect with jeans and the jacket and scarf. The only thing was that when I switched my closet from Summer to Fall I realized that literally all of my casual long sleeved tops are in some way shape or form, STRIPED. Like my dudes, I clearly have a type when it comes to clothes. 😉

  12. Leah on September 18, 2014 at 12:24 am

Everything looks so pretty and good on you! Great outfits !

  13. Laura B @ FitMamaLove on September 18, 2014 at 12:34 am

So cute! I love it all! I haven’t gotten a Stitch Fix in forever, but it sure is fun.

  14. Jill on September 18, 2014 at 2:09 am

Does anyone know if there is anything like this in Australia? I live in Sydney.

  15. Alex @ Get Big, Go To Work on September 18, 2014 at 6:47 am

I’ve used Stitch Fix twice. I really love the service too. It is so convenient and they make the process so easy! I love the pieces you got above…and the shoes you styled the pieces with. So cute.

My favorite pairs of jeans were from a boutique shop back in high school and I wore a hole in them also from so many wears but continue to wear them like you because I love them so much…Guess its time to get another pair! 🙂

  16. Christa @ Living Unbalanced on September 18, 2014 at 8:24 am

Love the cream and grey dress! I’m currently looking for some grey jeans…I don’t know what it is about me and grey but I love it.

  17. Monica on September 18, 2014 at 9:07 am

That black dress looks FANTASTIC on you Gina!

I adore Stitch Fix. My next fix arrives on 10/1 and I can’t wait! Hoping for some warm cardigans for this Minnesota autumn/winter. 🙂

  18. Anne @fANNEtasticfood on September 18, 2014 at 9:51 am

    Beautiful! 🙂

  19. Krista on September 18, 2014 at 9:53 am

That first dress is gorgeous! I love living vicariously through the Stitch Fix posts I see. 🙂

My fave jeans are Silver Skinny’s. They work very well with my booty!

  20. Erin @ Her Heartland Soul on September 18, 2014 at 10:34 am

I have totally done that with jeans and tops before that are clearly worn out but I love them too much to get rid of them!

Do the sanctuary pants stretch out over time? I’m looking for a pair of black pants to wear under a chambray shirt and I love the price points of those!

    • Fitnessista on September 18, 2014 at 10:45 am

they held their shape really well. i just think i shouldn’t have taken them to the trampoline park so many times haha

      • Mallory on September 18, 2014 at 11:15 pm

I got the same sanctuary pants 1.5 yrs ago and mine wore out like yours, pretty fast too. But I loved them so I bought a replacement pair from piper lime. I noticed the fabric content is different in the Piperlime pair. I’m thinking/hoping they updated them to be more durable.

  21. Alex @ True Femme on September 18, 2014 at 10:56 am

I LOVE all of your pieces! They look so stunning on you. I think cobalt is a fantastic color on you! I did a Stitch Fix back in March and liked about half the pieces but the next opportunity for a fix was a few months out so I just kind of forgot about it. I would love to see what they’d come up with for fall for me so I should probably take a look now!

  22. Tracy @ sprinklesandsquats on September 18, 2014 at 11:44 am

Hahaha, I love that you kept those pants after they ripped! I definitely did a similar thing with one of my favorite pairs of workout capris – I just couldn’t let them go!

I’ve tried Stitch Fix in the past with some success. I’d like to give them another go sometime soon, perhaps to freshen up my fall closet. I literally have so many workout clothes, and my regular wardrobe is seriously lacking.

My absolute favorite pair of jeans would be my True Religion skinny jeans that I found at an outlet while on vacation. I even got them on sale, on top of being from an outlet store, so they ended up costing around $50! If they ever rip, I’m not sure what I’ll do…

  23. Alexa on September 18, 2014 at 11:52 am

where are those strap sandals from!!?

    • Fitnessista on September 18, 2014 at 2:43 pm

just fab! super comfy and the perfect height

      • Mila on September 18, 2014 at 3:16 pm

Yes! Thanks for posting, I was just about to ask this!

The outfits are great but those sandals caught my eye every time. Thanks 🙂

        • Fitnessista on September 18, 2014 at 6:33 pm

🙂 no prob!! they’re faves, i wear them all the time!

  24. mary on September 18, 2014 at 12:04 pm

    The LBD is adorable.

I have some Kut jeans I love. They were like $19 at Marshalls, I think. : )

  25. Emily on September 18, 2014 at 12:22 pm

I am glad I’m not the only one that wears tattered but loved clothing! Oh, and that gray and cream dress…<3

  26. Tracy on September 18, 2014 at 1:27 pm

You did score!! I especially love the 2 Tart dresses. They look great on you!

    • Fitnessista on September 18, 2014 at 2:42 pm

thank you, tracy! love tart dresses 🙂

  27. Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life on September 18, 2014 at 1:31 pm

Awesome fix! I just got one last week myself, and for the first time in a few months, I loved everything and kept it all! I had asked for a denim jacket and haven’t gotten it yet…may have to request the one you got here. LOVE. 🙂

      thank you friend! miss you!

  28. Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed on September 18, 2014 at 1:32 pm

My fave pair of jeans is currently a pair of H&M skinnies I got last fall. I don’t know what it is about them, but they just fit me so well. I need to go back and see if I can find more magic.

    • Fitnessista on September 18, 2014 at 2:41 pm

h&m has GREAT pants, and they’re always so inexpensive. i got a printed pair for $17 that i wore for a couple of years

  29. Lori on September 18, 2014 at 1:57 pm

Bought the skinnies, received additional $10 discount AND used a gift card, so really only paid $17…WOOHOO! I love your fashion posts! I need all the help I can get.

    • Fitnessista on September 18, 2014 at 2:40 pm

      yeahhhhh! what a steal!

  32. Cassie on September 19, 2014 at 9:59 am

I have the Kut from the Kloth jacket from one of my first fixes and I love it so much! Perfect with dresses or black pants. 😀

  33. Katie on September 19, 2014 at 12:44 pm

    Hi Gina!
Do those skinnies fit pretty true to size? I noticed they’re S, M, L sizing instead of typical number/inch (2,4,6…26,27,28) sizing!
    Thanks!
    Katie

    • Fitnessista on September 19, 2014 at 5:27 pm

yep- i usually wear an XS or S and the XS was perfect

  34. Tricia on September 19, 2014 at 4:01 pm

I haven’t tried Stitch Fix yet, but I think you might have finally convinced me. I love everything you got! Eeeekkk!

  35. Margaret on September 23, 2014 at 7:59 am

I got those SAME Sanctuary pants from Stitch Fix two years ago…and mine looked similar! I really did love/wear them to death. Might have to reorder the pair! Thanks for the sale tip 🙂

    • Fitnessista on September 24, 2014 at 12:31 am

      of course!

  36. Melora on October 7, 2014 at 10:24 am

I’ve had some really unfortunate luck with StichFix lately…..
Do you leave really detailed feedback on the items you don’t keep? I’ve tried linking to my Pinterest page, fine tuning my profile, but I still haven’t been satisfied with the purchases. Everything seems trendy or a little too cheap for the price they’re charging….
erg. frustrated with it all. Any advice to get a better fix?

      hi melora,
i’ve had a couple of rough boxes, too, and always leave detailed feedback about why i don’t like something. if you hate a certain cut or fabric, say why you don’t like it. make sure to link to your pinterest page when you put in your request for a fix, or even request certain items. last time, while i was building my capsule-ish wardrobe, i sent a list of things i was looking for. hope this helps a little!
