SUP Yo

Hi guys! How’s the day been? Thank you so much for the sweet well wishes for Bell. I’ve read them all to her, and she sends you all Bella kisses of gratitude 😉

The Pilot and I had a day date today! Since Liv was at school for a couple of hours and the Pilot was off work, we decided to spend the morning paddle boarding.

Day date 1 of 1

Kellogg beach 1 of 1

Yoga goal 1 of 1

(Goal: to do that out on the water instead of on land)

We rented our boards from YOLO Board in Point Loma. I always get a little excited to see the bright and shiny boards — especially love the mint ones!

Yolo board 1 of 1

It wasn’t my favorite rental spot, as it was more expensive than some of the other places we’ve tried, but I loved the location. We drove a couple of blocks down to Kellogg’s Beach, which was entirely peaceful and calm. It was the perfect paddle boarding spot.

Yolo board 1 of 1 2

I did like the boards: much smaller than some of the ones we’ve tried, and lighter. I could actually carry it without looking like a giant goober 😉

We paddled around the bay, navigating past the gorgeous boats, joking around, and hoping we’d see a seal, before taking our boards back and heading to the Living Room for a quick coffee and snack.

The Living Room is a funky little spot -it kind of reminds me of B Line in Tucson!- with an eclectic menu and drool-worthy dessert case.

They have bagels, breakfasts burritos, quiches, sandwiches, salads, and acai bowls. Bonus: they offer almond and coconut milk for the lattes.

Latte 1 of 1 3

We enjoyed it out on the patio, people-watching and enjoying the beautiful weather.

Liv totally busted us when we went to pick her up. “You were at the beach.” Hahah. Can’t put anything past that one 😉

Hope you’re enjoying the day, too <3

xoxo

Haha, Livi must be at that super observant age where she picks up on everything. Day dates are so much fun! My hubby and I had one last Friday, went hiking and had a picnic with our dogs 😀

Wow, San Diego is so beautiful. It looks like it would be a great place to live if you’re active, like the outdoors and lots of fresh, seasonal foods. Take me there! 🙂 I have never been SUP, but it looks like a lot of fun. I think Anne has done it in DC (I’ve seen a few posts from her too) so that may be my nearest option.

A coffee place with almond & coconut milk? too good to be true!

  4. Linda @ Fit Fed and Happy on October 9, 2014 at 7:34 pm

That cafe is seriously one to keep. I’ve never met a cafe that offers non soy dairy free options.

What a fun day date! And any coffee shop that has almond and/or coconut milk gets a gold star in my book. Why does that STILL seem rare!? We all drink almond milk…catch on coffee shops.

That is TOO cool that you guys had a day date! Love that you went to the beach. Do you have to swim out with to boards & then jump on top? I’ve always wondered about the mechanics of getting on the board.

Glad glad you had a great day date! I really want to try paddle boarding- looks amazing! My husband and I just had a day date a few days ago. We just saw a movie, but it was a nice change to the rountine:) looking forward to your fri post! Have a nice night!

I love paddle boarding! I find it tricky enough to balance with two feet on the board, though, let alone with one above my head! 🙂

    Always, Anita

What a fun day date! It’s always nice to have one of those once in awhile instead of the usual date nights.

Oh I miss San Diego so much! They have the best little places to eat that are so unique and fun!
And I’ve never tried boarding but always wanted to. I hear it’s such a good core workout!
Also, love the idea of a day date!

I’m loving the fact that I am meeting up with my towns “running club” after work today (I just discovered them!). Excited to get a workout in and meet some new running buddies!

What a fun date!! You were able to fit a lot into preschool time! What hours is school? I don’t think I ever used my preschool time that well. Way to go! So beautiful where you live. That house in the background? Wow. I’ll tuck that away for my dreams. Haha!

    • Fitnessista on October 10, 2014 at 1:35 pm

Today I’m loving the weather, I live in the bay area and it is a gloriously sunny fall day, it doesn’t get better than that.

I’d definitely keep track of my veggie intake, always looking for fun incentives to keep my veggie count high.

That comment was supposed to be on 10/10/2014’s post! oops!

Dancer’s pose on a paddle board was my one goal this summer on vacation in FL!!! I managed to get it and the company we rented paddle boards from (Sailing South Watersports) caught it on photo and posted it on their Facebook!!!
