Superfood cookie dough

Hi! How’s your morning going? I’m excited to share a decadent and healthy recipe with you today: superfood cookie dough!

First, let’s say congratulations to the PRO Compression leggings winner, Lauren L.! (Check your email for details to claim your prize!)

I love reading your comments on this morning’s post. Speaking of self care, here’s that recipe I mentioned for healthy cookie dough that’s meant to be eaten raw. It will satisfy your sweet tooth and nourish your body!

Superfood Cookie Dough

Shocker of the year: I made a spherical snack.

Superfood cookie dough bite

(I get a little carried away sometimes.. they’re just so cute and convenient.)

This superfood cookie dough will not only satisfy your sweet tooth, but it also makes a fantastic pre-workout treat with an awesome combination of smart carbs, healthy fats and protein. | fitnessista.com | #superfoodsnack #superfoodcookiedough #ediblecookiedough #snackbites

The other day, I had a major sweet tooth attack. It wasn’t intense in the way that we needed an emergency drive to The Cravory, but I was definitely in the mood for something sweet. Liv was napping, I was scrolling through Facebook (aka wasting time) and happened upon an energy bite recipe that OTF Point Loma had posted. I had all of the ingredients on hand and decided to add in two of my favorite superfoods: chia seeds and goji berries.

Crisis averted.

Superfood cookie dough

Not only do they taste like cookie dough, but also make a fantastic pre-workout treat with an awesome combination of smart carbs, healthy fats and protein. They last in the fridge for up to a week, so they’d be perfect to make in advance to enjoy for a quick and healthy snack.

The only downside: I’m not exactly sure of the recipe yield. Some dough went missing in the creation process 😉

This is completely for selfish reasons but have you ever considered calculating Weight Watchers Points Plus for your delicious creations?

    • Fitnessista on July 22, 2014 at 2:09 am

i definitely could start doing that! i’d like to start posting nutrition content on a separate page for those interested, and could add that too

      • Molly on July 22, 2014 at 6:34 am

I don’t know how many, if any besides me, are on Weight Watchers but it certainly couldn’t hurt and would be SO greatly appreciated! Thanks!

These look like a great pre-workout snack! I just made some of your amazeballs yesterday, after doing one of your barre burner videos. What a burn! I’m surprised I can walk today. I will be using more of your workouts as I’m in a bit of a workout rut right now. Thanks for being awesome at what you do. 🙂

I wanted to stop back and comment on these again because my kiddo’s (ages 2, 6, 7) just helped me make these and of course they are the main taste testers and they were a HUGE HIT! They asked me to make them everyday! 🙂

Thanks for coming up with great family friends recipes. PS: I LOVE the addition of almond meal!

These are making my sweet tooth all twitterpated. Besides, sphere-shaped things are just more fun to eat!

(Umm, just reread that. Why does it sound so dirty? hahaha)

These looks delicious and easy to make! I don’t have a food processor so being able to just mix the ingredients in a bowl suits me. I’ve printed out the recipe to make this weekend. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

I NEED these spherical snacks in my life. NEED. I kind of hate that OTF PL is right by the Cravory. It’s really not nice. Their cookies are just insane.

    • Fitnessista on July 22, 2014 at 2:05 am

right? every time i work out there i’m like “ok, now i want a cookie”

  15. Lucie@FitSwissChick on July 22, 2014 at 5:43 am

Yes for Goji Berries and Chia Seeds! Way too long since I had those!

  16. Courtney Bentley on July 22, 2014 at 8:12 am

OMG these look the BOMB.com I have to try them although I am allergic to almonds so will sub with coconut hope it tastes great 🙂

  17. Masala Girl on July 22, 2014 at 9:55 am

could you maybe do a post on different flours, uses & subs? and tastes? like oat, almond, coconut, along with wheat, or anything else?

    • Fitnessista on July 22, 2014 at 10:54 am

      definitely!

      • Jamie on July 22, 2014 at 12:09 pm

Seconded! This would be great – I don’t have any food allergies, but things like almond meal are not available where I live, are too expensive to ship, and likely to be confiscated by customs anyway. Thank you!

  18. Alex @ Kenzie Life on July 22, 2014 at 11:33 am

I’m all over these! I LOVE your superfood snack bites and found those to be a great pre-workout snack, so I’m sure I’m going to go crazy over these!

    • Fitnessista on July 23, 2014 at 2:12 am

let me know if you give them a try! 🙂

  19. katie M on July 22, 2014 at 5:33 pm

Yummmm these look so delicious!! If I do not have any almond meal on hand, what would be an alternative if any? Love your blog so much!! Thank you!!

    • Fitnessista on July 23, 2014 at 2:08 am

you could use oat flour or shredded coconut!

      • katie M on July 23, 2014 at 3:29 pm

        thank you so much!

  20. Michelle on July 23, 2014 at 9:53 pm

I make a version of these all the time. I do not use the almond meal but a 1/2 cup of unsweetened coconut, sometimes I use all chia, sometimes I use all flax, sometime I mix. I vary my mix ins. Choc chips and dried tart cherries are really yummy. If you use a 1 Tbsp measuring spoon to make your balls, I usually get about 24 per recipe. I always have these in the fridge, they are great when you just need a little something sweet or something to take the edge off before dinner.
