Tackling moving mountain

Hi friends! How was your day? Hope it was amazing <3

We’re making progress with our mountain of unpacking.

living room

I say “we”, but it’s really 90% this guy… he is a machine.

pilot

While he was home on his lunch break, he put together our new World Market patio furniture

teak

and before I got home from work, he had put all of the boxes in their respectable areas so they’re easier to unpack, set up the TV and new rug.

rug

[Our sectional gets here on Saturday!]

Bella cuddled up on the rug and supervised unpacking activity…. with her eyes closed 😉

bell

The Pilot cruised away and busted me texting instead of working :/

me

Cleaning = fan.

Unpacking = notsomuch.

I came home from work to make a smoothie to take back with me:

smoothie

(almond milk, Sun Warrior, frozen organic berries, cacao powder)

and munched some new-to-me gluten-free toast with almond butter when I got home.

toast

It’s definitely dinner time over here… maybe we’ll eat on the patio 🙂

Workout-wise, I cardio was while teaching/assisting today (DJ Dance and Zumba) and weights on the second half of my lunch break. I had a feeling it would be hard to escape to the gym tonight with everything there is to do but things are definitely coming along. It’s starting to look more like a dirty house than a place we moved into two days ago 😉 Hopefully by the end of the weekend we’ll be done!!!

Have a great night <3

xoxo

Everything looks great! What a beautiful home 🙂 I gotta say though unpacking is A LOT more fun than packing/getting rid of stuff

  2. Suzi @ confessions of a fitness instructor on July 28, 2011 at 11:34 pm

I love your patio set! Looks like the unpacking is coming along nicely 🙂

I’m not a fan of unpacking either – and then there is the worst part in my books, dealing with all the empty boxes! :/

    • Fitnessista on July 28, 2011 at 11:35 pm

i have no idea how we’re going to get them all to recycling

      • Olga S. on July 29, 2011 at 2:53 am

Gina, you can look up freecycle.org. They have message boards for a lot of areas. When we moved last year I placed a message about free boxes and someone who needed boxes for a move came by the same day and picked all of them up.

        • mountain girl heidi on July 29, 2011 at 7:37 am

And being military, I’m sure there’s a family moving soon who would LOVE your boxes. Contact a First Sergeant to see if there’s anyone who could use them. 🙂

        • MMiller on July 29, 2011 at 10:58 am

I was just about to say the same thing!! FREECYCLE them!! People are always looking for good moving boxes!

          • Fitnessista on July 29, 2011 at 11:36 am

            thanks, that’s a great idea!

  3. Gina @ Running to the Kitchen on July 28, 2011 at 11:34 pm

I love your face in that pic, it says “busted”..haha. Unpacking stinks, but it feels great when everything is in it’s place.

  4. Sana on July 28, 2011 at 11:37 pm

Heee, with a man like that working, I would “pretend” to help lots 😉 It’s also funny to think about my parents moving into the house I live in now prgggooo and building a family in it. You guys will do the same!!!

    • Fitnessista on July 28, 2011 at 11:47 pm

that is really crazy to think about!

  5. Laura @ Backstage Pass to Health & Happiness on July 28, 2011 at 11:38 pm

The house looks great! I love your decorating style, I would choose all of the same furniture and the rug myself 🙂
And the kitchen it just lovely! The cabinets and the stainless steel appliances… Awesome. You could host a cooking show in there!

  6. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on July 28, 2011 at 11:43 pm

Wow you guys are….amazing!!! Pick up keys on Monday and by Thurs afternoon, you’re almost done!! WOW!

But I am the same way…I will stay up days on end til it’s DONE. I even posted about this 2 weeks ago when we moved in. I cannot.rest.until.it’s.done. <–OCD much? Yes, but I can't help myself!

"While he was home on his lunch break, he put together our new World Market patio furniture"–
    amazing!!!
In 12 yrs of being together, and married 10, Scott has never put together anything. Other than Barbie puzzles made for 4 yr olds. He's good at those 🙂 Count your blessings you have a "handy" husband! I have had to become "handy"!

Congrats on making your house a home!

    • Fitnessista on July 28, 2011 at 11:46 pm

i’m the same way- i’ll stay up if i need to get things done
and had no clue tom was such a handy man until this week! he majorly impressed me

  7. Ashley Terry on July 29, 2011 at 12:01 am

Hi there! I just moved recently too and we have tile floors for the first time. My “dogs have been barking” as my husband would say (=my feet have been aching) since we got here and I am wondering what tips you have if any?! We do have rugs throughout the apartment. Thanks so much and thanks for sharing your life!

    • Fitnessista on July 29, 2011 at 12:06 am

hmmm i wish i could help you out more w that one! we’ve always had tile floor (even when i was a kiddo) so i’m really used to it. hope your feet start to feel better!!

    • MMiller on July 29, 2011 at 11:03 am

Always wear shoes when you can! Even slippers! When you are not used to the hard floors, they can really make you ache! And get a cushion type of mat for places where you stand a lot, like in front of the kitchen sink! You will be amazed at the difference it will make! Try a few different things for a week or two at a time to see what works most for you!

  8. megan on July 29, 2011 at 12:09 am

you are making some serious progress… your house looks so cute !

  9. Ashley on July 29, 2011 at 12:12 am

    • Fitnessista on July 29, 2011 at 11:42 am

  10. Ali @ urbanfruitbat on July 29, 2011 at 12:14 am

Your little Bella is so adorable. Your Pilot isn’t to bad either, I guess… :p

  11. Candice on July 29, 2011 at 1:01 am

moving and unpacking along with all the organizing involved is hard and seems to drag forever!! I have been moved in our new home since last year and I still feel like I’m trying to get organized!! note: put things away where you really want them.. not just to put them away.. (if that makes sense!)
I bet it feels good to just finally be settled! (almost)
    loves!

  12. Emilia @ Namaste Gurl on July 29, 2011 at 1:49 am

Love the new house furniture– so cute 🙂 Glad moving in is going smoothly- take it day by day!
I hate unpacking as well, currently doing that from my trip.

  13. Brett Marie on July 29, 2011 at 4:56 am

Wow the house is really coming along! You guys are rocking it out! Good luck with the rest. And btw- I LOVE that new red rug & am also quite envious of the patio set. No World Market over here in Germany! Wah- Wahhhh!

  14. Amanda on July 29, 2011 at 5:14 am

Very nice patio set! Bella must love her backyard : D

  15. cathy on July 29, 2011 at 6:07 am

love the patio furniture! and isn’t it just like a typical guy to make setting up the tv a top priority!
i hear you on the unpacking…the thing is, too, that if you like the uncluttered look, there’s something to be said for enjoying the open, clean bookshelves, side tables, etc.
good luck this weekend, getting the job done!

    • Fitnessista on July 29, 2011 at 11:41 am

yep, i hate clutter, so it’s going to take a while to get everything put away and in a good spot

  16. Jessica @ Sushi and Sit-Ups on July 29, 2011 at 6:28 am

It’s looking great and all coming together! How is Bella dealing with the change?

    • Fitnessista on July 29, 2011 at 11:41 am

she’s a little freaked out. when i left for work yesterday, she stared out the window at me and tried to look as pathetic as possible

  17. Kate @ Vet in the Saddle on July 29, 2011 at 6:47 am

Love it all! Y’all have such cute taste!

I especially love the first pic with what I’m assuming is a Bella toy already on the floor. Glad she’s unpacking too 🙂

  18. Megan on July 29, 2011 at 6:49 am

I love that rug, we have a similar color scheme going on in our house.

  19. Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance on July 29, 2011 at 7:12 am

I do NOT like to unpack at all– You are not alone!

  20. Katie on July 29, 2011 at 7:31 am

Oh the joys of unpacking! Ha! it can be fun but also a pain in the butt!

Yay for your new couch coming tomorrow!!

  21. Holly @ The Runny Egg on July 29, 2011 at 7:40 am

  23. Shayla @ The Good Life on July 29, 2011 at 8:14 am

I absolutely love your patio set, gorgeous! And World Market has the best finds, love it! Its neat to know that this will be the house you’ll bring up bambino in and create lots of memories with 🙂

  24. Kimberly on July 29, 2011 at 8:17 am

your new place is coming together nicely! When we moved in to our new home last summer the hubby caught me texting, playing on the laptop, and discovering my Garmin Forerunner instead of helping remodel/unpack on a few occasions – I feel for ya! Excited to see it when it is all finished. I love that rug BTW, great accent piece!

  25. Fancy on July 29, 2011 at 8:23 am

Where is your new rug from??? I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Bess on July 29, 2011 at 8:38 am

thank you bess! good luck with your move 🙂

  27. Kate on July 29, 2011 at 8:43 am

What GF brand of bread is that? It looks really seedy and thick for a GF bread! Yum!

    • Fitnessista on July 29, 2011 at 11:39 am

i can’t remember.. i’ll have to check when i get home. i wasn’t sure how i’d feel about it since each slice is 150 cals (which is a lot for bread), but the slices are super thick. very seedy too- i liked it 🙂

  34. Diana on July 29, 2011 at 10:08 am

gahh moving is SUCH a nightmare – looks like y’all are making astounding progress, though! And with Bella as your motivational supervisor, you’ll be done in NO time! 😉

I can’t believe everything is finally coming together for you! Permanent, awesome place to live, pilot back, baby on the way. You are living the dream!

  36. Ambre on July 29, 2011 at 10:53 am

Hey Gina 🙂 I love the new house! So exciting for you and your husband!

I had a question, and couldn’t find your email address to email you (I’m probably not looking hard enough LOL). I know a while ago you had posted about a heart rate monitor that you got and loved, and was wondering what it was called? I got a New Balance one, but it malfunctioned this morning, so I don’t think it’s accurate. :-/

    Thanks in advance! 🙂 🙂

I love the new red rug! Might I ask where you purchased it? I have to buy my first big rug for my first real home (not apartment) and I don’t know where to start!
    Thanks Gina!

  38. MMiller on July 29, 2011 at 11:05 am

I have to admit, my husband does most of the packing and unpacking when we move! (And the cleaning too for that matter!) He just does it all quicker and more efficiently!

  39. RhodeyGirl on July 29, 2011 at 11:11 am

I LOVE that rug and I must know where you found it.

  40. Chelsea @ Chelsea's Health on July 29, 2011 at 11:13 am

I loved this post! It will be so nice when everything is unpacked and you are able to relax in your new home. We are moving in January (from northern Canada to southern USA) and your post made me excited to go look for our new place.

By the way – I made my first ever breakfast cookie last night for myself and my husband. It was so easy to modify the mixins to each have one we would love (and use up random pantry ingredients). They were amazing this morning! I definitely think it will become a staple in our house. Oh and I actually felt full and did not want to snack as soon as I got to work. Thanks so much for the recipe!

do you have the thickest, straightest hair known to man? I am soooo jealous. Mine is thick, but a total jew-fro.

    • Fitnessista on July 29, 2011 at 11:35 am

my hair is super wavy but very, crazy thick. i used to have keratin treatments before i got pregnant, which helped keep it less frizzy

  42. Amber on July 29, 2011 at 12:17 pm

I luh-oooove the new casa!!! And, we have the same patio furniture!! I miss World Market. *sigh*

  43. Stephanie on July 29, 2011 at 3:08 pm

Lots of unpacking going on here too! I laughed at the texting. My unpacking machine of a husband wanted to take a quick nap. I promised to wake him up after 15 mins. It’s been over an hour, but i haven’t woken him up yet, because I’m trying to catch up on blog reading. I’m gonna be in soooo much trouble!

  44. Lauren @ Fun, Fit and Fabulous! on July 29, 2011 at 3:44 pm

It’s lOoking fantastic so far!! Good luck with the rest of unpacking. You can do it!!

  45. Jen on July 29, 2011 at 3:45 pm

First of all, I have to tell you that I love your blog. It’s the perfect mix of fashion, fitness, and food. That being said, do you have any posts about hairstyles and makeup? I loved the “twisty bangs” post and look forward to more tutorials like that. Thank you! PS: You can tell you’re a natural teacher – I am never able to master hairstyles from a youtube video, but I got yours on the first try!
