The bloggy is back

Hey everyone! What. A . Day.

First of all, thank you so much for those of you who tweeted and emailed that the blog was down this morning. We had some server/database issues, but everything is back to bueno now. Thank goodness- I had a minor panic attack that all of my work was lost forever. Thank you to Aaron, always the blog hero, for fixing it for me!

I tossed and turned all night last night, and had a feeling something was wrong.

Since I was so tired from staying up, I totally slept through my alarm, woke up to a broken blog and a phone call from the pilot saying his plane broke and he had to make an emergency landing. Double doozy, right? (Note: the pilot is totally fine and is on his way back to V-town right now)

Good thing I made myself a killer breakfast!

chocchip

CHOCOLATE CHIP BREAKFAST COOKIE!!!

I made the bfast cookie last night using vegan chocolate chips, to put myself in a good mood for the 11 miler I had planned. I needed it for sanity this morning instead, because the long run didn’t happen 🙁 I was just an antsy stress ball, and it looked like it was going to rain any second, so I didn’t go. To be honest, I’m contemplating dropping out of the Jacksonville 1/2 (on December 20th). For some reason, my heart just isn’t in it and I haven’t trained at all like I should have… so I’m going to debate a little and decide if I’m still going to do it. (If not, I’ll still be there to cheer on my friends who are running)

So, back to the bfast cookie, here’s what today’s had:

1/3 cup oats

1/2 banana

1/2 T almond butter

splash of almond milk

cinnamon

sea salt

vegan chocolate chips

foodgasms

I went to the commiscary to get some Shrimpsgiving ingredients, Publizzle and the health food store, then came back to the casa, heated up the yoga room to 90* and did a 60-minute Power Yoga #2 Podcast from YogaDownload.com. It was just what the doctor ordered. This podcast had most of my favorite poses (standing splits, half moon and crow) and I emerged from the yoga room, sweaty, bendy and CALM.

It was fun staring at this while doing a toe hold. He was smiling at my pain 😉

buddha2

Lonchi was glorious.

beast

Salad beast with spinach, bell pepper, Goddess dressing, green herbed olives (from the Publizzle deli), grape tomatoes, asparagus and Pure2Raw bok choy chia flatbread. Deeeelicious.

Oh, and a cocktail:

kombucha

I’m off to train two clients and then hop on the treadmill for some intervals with the new issue of SELF. Later on, a glass of vino with Michelle… I need it!

See ya soon,

Gina

Hey girl! My advice would be that if your heart isn’t in it, drop out for now. I’ve dropped out of one of my fitness shows before because my heart just wasn’t in the training at the moment. It was unenjoyable and bringing me down. It also stressed me out. Life is so short, I think we need to enjoy everything we do. If you don’t run in a few weeks, I’m sure you’ll be running another half before you know it! 🙂

  2. Shannon on November 24, 2009 at 4:06 pm

Yeah!!! 🙂 I was so worried it was out of commission, thank goodness you are back to bloggin and everything is alright!! Breakfast cookie looks delicious!

  5. Shari B. on November 24, 2009 at 4:16 pm

Gina, so glad to hear your blog and the Pilot are both ok! When I went to your site this morning and it just kind sat there with nothing on it, my heart went out to you because I know how I would feel if the same thing happened to my blog!

You are SO close to the half and you’ve done so much already to train for it. You’ve run 10 miles — that’s really all you need to be ready for the half. Don’t give up!

As a fellow personal trainer, my two cents is to do what you would tell a client to do. Would you cheer them on and encourage them to follow through to the end? I totally understand either way and I see Jessica’s point as well… but one time I let myself give up on a similar goal, I later kicked myself as I watched my friends all cross the finish line having a blast.

I know you can do it!!! 🙂

  6. Shelby on November 24, 2009 at 4:22 pm

I was so sad this morning when your blog was down! But I’m super happy now that it’s back!

That breakfast cookie looks scrumptious! Love the chocolate chips on top 🙂

  7. katey on November 24, 2009 at 4:22 pm

I really hate bananas! (tragic, I know!) Is there any way to make a breakfast cookie without the banana, or will it have a different texture/ consistency?

    • Fitnessista on November 24, 2009 at 7:41 pm

sure, meghann is allergic and uses applesauce for hers!

  8. cocoNUTbutter on November 24, 2009 at 4:26 pm

I love everything you eat 🙂

    • Fitnessista on November 24, 2009 at 9:37 pm

  9. VeggieGirl on November 24, 2009 at 4:33 pm

Drop out if you need to, girl – don’t overdo it!! xo

  10. ida on November 24, 2009 at 4:35 pm

Glad to hear The Pilot is Okay. Just do the race! not every race has to be a PR- and with no pressure you can just look at it as a fun run. you’ll get the medal no matter what your time is:)

  11. Mama Pea on November 24, 2009 at 4:37 pm

Thank goodness you got it all worked out. I still don’t really understand why you crashed but I didn’t! I’m telling you, Aaron can fix ANYTHING. He’s so used to me calling him at random times and I’m even bringing my laptop to Thankgiving dinner so he can help a sista out.

Yes, you very much deserve that vino!

  12. Nicci@NiftyEats on November 24, 2009 at 5:03 pm

Yay, for the blog being back up! I look forward every morning to reading yours.

  13. lizzy on November 24, 2009 at 5:47 pm

All that before lunch! what a day your having girlie! Don’t worry things can only get better from here! And thankfully your pilot is A-ok! Only you can tell if your heart is in your upcoming race, if you aren’t all there you may feel like you wasted a lot of mental and physical energy preparing for a race your not 100% into. I’m sure you will be super pumped for many races in the future so don’t feel like you have to do this one, goodluck with you decision and have a great night w/ lovely vino!!!

  14. EatingRD on November 24, 2009 at 6:16 pm

I need to make one of your breakfast cookies, they look wonderful! If your not into it, no one will think less of you because of it. Do what is best for you and your body. There are so many others in the future! I’m doing my first 5k on Thanksgiving, not much but I am giving this running thing a try 🙂

  15. Tiffany on November 24, 2009 at 6:47 pm

This is totally random, but I’m just commenting to say thanks for displaying and commenting about the Buddha statue in a respectful manner. I know the image has entered pop culture parlance, but it’s still nice when people appreciate it as something that may be a venerated religious symbol to other people. Hope the little guy helps you reach those poses 🙂

P.S. Oh, and I love your blog! Have def. adopted the breakfast cookie, and your positive, persistent attitude is inspiring.

    • Fitnessista on November 24, 2009 at 9:36 pm

thank YOU! at first glace i thought “oh no, a mean comment” but it turned out to be totally sweet and lovely. i’ve actually studied buddhism a little and certainly have respect for the religion.
so glad you enjoy the bfast cookie!

  16. Trainerpack on November 24, 2009 at 6:58 pm

Glad you are updating! Really enjoy your blog.

  17. kristi (sweet cheeks) on November 24, 2009 at 7:28 pm

So glad the pilot is okay…that is scary!

Your bfast cookie looks uh-mazing. I need to make one asap!

  18. Lisa on November 24, 2009 at 7:53 pm

    Gina,
Glad The Pilot is alright; that’s too scary. I say don’t stress about your run; you are in great shape and about to take on dancing also. Do what feels right and fun. See you tomorrow.

  19. Jessica on November 24, 2009 at 8:11 pm

As an avid runner, I would say go for it. You can finish a 1/2 if you’ve run more then 7 miles 🙂 I’m glad the pilot is ok, that is scary! My husband travels every week and I’m always holding my breath even tho he’s been doing it for the last 10 years. I had a question: what is “Marys crack” and “Goddess Dressing”?? LOL!

    • Fitnessista on November 24, 2009 at 8:26 pm

yes, but i want to beat my last time if i run it and right now, i’m not sure i’ll be able to do it.
it is scary to have traveling husbands!!!!
marys crack = marys gone crackers
goddess dressing = annie’s goddess dressing
      😀

    • Jessica on November 25, 2009 at 8:01 am

Oh I see, I am the same way when I run, LoL! I’m shooting for the ING Atlanta in March, so I begin training in December. It will be my first half, although I’ve run lots of 5k’s. I haven’t run in a while because I got a hip stress fracture…I’ve just recovered. Now I’m just waiting for clearance from my PT :)Have a great Wednesday 🙂

  20. Light Delight with TouTou on November 24, 2009 at 8:15 pm

Oh whoa I love that bok choy chia flatbread!! we have a very similar version , but using seaweed. I love the green-black-ish bread, taste very good! Fab for toppings!

    • Fitnessista on November 24, 2009 at 8:25 pm

ohhh thats a great idea to use seaweed! maybe i’ll add some arame to my next batch

  21. Lauren on November 24, 2009 at 8:42 pm

Whew, so happy the Pilot is okay. How frightening that must have been.

I can’t blame you one bit for skipping the run and even if you decide not to do the 1/2 that is totally understandable. It took me an entire year to train for my 1/2 and if I didn’t feel like my heart wasn’t in it 100%, I would have died. Really, running is more about where we are at phsyically, it is so mental and emotional as well. If life is a little too crazed right now, running a big race may not be the answer to make it better. 🙂

Oh and I wanted to tell you that I made your Sweet Potato Chili the other night and posted about it! Thanks darling, it was freaking unbeleiveable!!! 🙂

  22. Pure2Raw Twins on November 24, 2009 at 10:10 pm

Sorry about your day! We have plenty of those 😉 Glad that everything is fine 🙂 And if you are not feeling the race than do not do it. Trust your gut feelings!! There will always be more races. We are getting really nervous about our marathon… are training is going as planned. Not running as much as we should :/ I am glad that you are enjoying your treats 🙂 Have a good night and drink a glass for us

  23. Jenna on November 24, 2009 at 11:14 pm

great bfast cookie! have fun tonight 🙂
    jenna

  24. Melissa S. on November 25, 2009 at 12:44 am

oh honeyboo…i’m sorry about your morning. but i’m glad to hear that both you, and the pilot are ok.

but that breakfast cookie looks great!

  25. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin on November 25, 2009 at 2:14 am

I’m so jealous of your heated guest room! I wish I had a spare room that I could heat up for some hot yoga, too! I’ll just have to get myself to a Bikram class soon!! 🙂

Glad the pilot’s okay! My dad was a pilot in the Air Force for most of my life, so I know how easy it can be to worry when they’re away!

  26. Liz on November 25, 2009 at 8:23 am

    Yummmmy Bfast cookie!!

So…Can you do me a HUGE favor and clue me in on Goddess dressing? Please? I am seeing it everywhere, but am not sure what everyone is talking about? Surely it’s not the Green Goddess by Kraft. Do tell! I want to try it so bad becaue I literally eat a salad of some variation every night!

    • Fitnessista on November 25, 2009 at 8:29 am

      hey liz,
it’s by annie’s and you can find it at almost any health food store or in the organic/natural aisle of grocery stores. it’s delicious– like a creamy tahini dressing with herbs

  27. Tiffanie on November 25, 2009 at 9:30 am

Okay. After seeing THAT breakfast cookie I’ve GOT to finally make one for myself. It looks sooooo good!

If you decide to drop out of the Jacksonville race you can run the Princess one at Disney with Hayley and me in March! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on November 25, 2009 at 9:32 am

i think i’m running the princess one no matter what 😉

    • Fitnessista on November 25, 2009 at 9:32 am

and let me know if you make a bfast cookie! 😀

  28. Tina on November 25, 2009 at 9:42 am

I would say if you don’t feel totally into it, don’t do the race! It would be hard to be motivated to do a half if your heart isn’t in it. Just do what’s right for you!

  29. Michal on November 25, 2009 at 10:19 am

yum that chocolate chip brekkie cookie looks decadent!
