{Video Post} Cakes and Bangs

Hi friends–Major apologies for the blog down time this morning. The entire Dreamhost site was down, along with this little blog and many of my friends’ blogs. Blah to that. Looks like everything is back in action, though!

As agitated as I was, there was absolutely nada I could do about it, so I made pancakes 🙂

Used this new-to-me pancake mix for the depths of the pantry:

Maple Grove Farms Gluten-Free Pancake Mix

Usually I’m apprehensive about gluten-free mixes… sometimes they come out super chewy, chalky, or gaggable.

I said a Hail Mary and decided to go for it:

1/4 C mix (1 serving)

1 egg white

almond milk

vanilla

pancake mix

When I cooked up the cakes, I was pleasantly surprised.

gluten-free pancakes with eggs

They got a little brown on the outside, but the inside was fluffy, foodgasmic city.

pancakes

Like REAL pancakes 😀

Baller.

So last week, I did a little twisty thing with my bangs since they were getting too long,

twisty bangs

and  received quite a few comments and emails asking how I did it.

It really ain’t no thang, so I made a little video to explain.

Twisty Bang Hair Tutorial

A pretty way to get your bangs out of your face 😀

(Side note: I almost didn’t post this video because of my nose –I’m super self conscious about it and this angle didn’t work in my favor- but in hopes of trying to embrace the honker, I decided to go for it.)

I’m off on an adventure with the Madre. See ya this afternoon!

xoxo

Gina

Great video! Thanks for sharing those tips. 🙂 BTW there is nothing wrong with your nose! You are beautiful! I can understand how you are feeling though because I am the same way about my nose. I am super self conscious about it especially when I see it in videos and pics. UGH! But honestly I didn’t even notice your nose!

I love your twist! I do the same but with a french braid, people ask me all the time if my hairdresser did it for me! I think yours looks so cute tho its a nice “twist” on the style 🙂

I have shorter bangs but I did the twist behind them and it makes my pony look more polished. Yay!

This was SO helpful!! I’ve tried to do the twists before, but never realized you only add hair to the one side. Duh! 🙂 Loved the “that’s what she said” bahaaa

Thanks for posting the video! I can’t wait to try that with my hair. I’ve been practicing braiding my hair back, but I think this will be much easier!

I finished watching the video, THEN read what you wrote about your nose and I was SO confused. I’m a detail oriented person who notices stuff like that – weird noses, uneven things – I’ve got a few of my own!

And I had to rewatch to see if I’d not noticed some crazy nose – nope. Just isn’t noticeable.

I think I see the little things that bug you about it if I think hard and look close, but I NEVER would if you hadn’t mentioned it. Never would have crossed my mind.

And, even knowing about your insecurity, I never notice your nose in pictures ever! It doesn’t stick out at all.

I know none of that matters if you’re worried about it, but it’s like being self conscious in gym class – everyone is staring at themselves in the mirror just knowing that everyone else is noticing their flaws, but everyone is too worried about what they look like to bother judging anyone else!
