Ever since men’s-inspired large watches started to become popular (last fall), I was kind of skeptical. I have small wrists so a lot of them looked like *too much* on me, I use my cell phone to check the time, and I’ve just never really been a watch girl. The only watch I wear on a regular basis is this one: my Polar FT40 heart rate monitor to the gym 🙂

Now, the watches are still going strong and none of my rings fit me, I’m thinking maybe instead of investing in a small wedding band to prove I am indeed married, I think I’d like a watch 😉 That way I’ll still be able to wear it when my rings fit me again, and all through the winter.

I LOVE the first brown watch because it will match everything, the classic silver because all of my jewelry is platinum or white gold, and the rose gold watch is just unique and elegant. Having a tough time deciding…

Are you a watch girl? Or do you check your cell phone like me?

I went through the same drooling-over-men’s-inspired-watches when all the bloggers were posting their gorgeous Michael Kors watches. 🙂 But if you have small wrists like I do, I’d highly suggest you check them out in person before you get too excited… I was obsessing over the MK rose gold one so much that I almost just ordered it online, but instead figured I’d do a quick mall run to check it out. Now, I like the “oversized” idea, and the watches are gorgeous, but on my tiny wrists, both the gold and rose gold ones just looked comical – seriously, I looked like I was dressed up as a pimp for Halloween with a giant fake gold watch! 😛 Not the look I was going for, sadly. I’d also suggest checking out both men’s and women’s Skagan watches, they’ve got really nice watches for totally reasonable prices – I ended up buying an actual man’s Skagan watch, my husband tried on this watch for himself and it was GORGEOUS, and I was like “Uh, honey, that watch is nice on you but it would look even better on me…” 😛 So *I* bought it. It’s great because it’s a sleek man’s watch that gives me just the perfect “oversized” look for my small wrists! I got this one and LOVE it (I’ve got dark skin so it works well), but they’ve got lots of nice ones: http://www.amazon.com/Skagen-233LTMN-Titanium-Black-Watch/dp/B0000C9ZBX/ref=sr_1_3?s=watches&ie=UTF8&qid=1315627498&sr=1-3

I used to wear watches daily but quit completely when I had an infant to hold. They just didn’t mesh well.

I’m a cell phone girl but I’ve been considering getting a watch to help me out for my new job. Love the first one here! But I’m not sure if I could get used to how a watch feels on my wrist. Uncomfy. Plus I have very small wrists, picky (translation-expensive) tastes, and the watch budget is limiting. Maybe I’ll have to do some shopping now. 🙂

I have been straight up stalking that rose-gold MK watch for months now. I just can’t bite the bullet!

I am loving Michael Kors watches right now! I’m currently looking at similar styles. I really love the silver one!

I’ve worn a watch everyday since I was in 5th grade. Of course, I decided to be different and wear my watch on my right hand, even though I’m right handed. I have a small silver watch I wear everyday. I’ve looked at oversize watches and they look ridiculous on my small wrists. I also like my watches to be pretty tight on my wrist – no flopping or turning, so that might be part of it. If you wear them loose, it might look better. The rose gold one is really elegant looking.

Was just about to post that exact same one. I’ve been lusting after it for a while 🙂

I never wear watches – I hate the feeling of having something heavy on my wrist! Maybe I should go old-fashioned and carry a pocket watch. 😛

I just check my cell phone, but I’d like to have a watch.

I’ve been eyeing the rose gold MK watch for some time, but they are all very pretty. There is a white one that I love too but it’s probably not these best for all seasons.

I love watches. I have a collection of fun watches but I really want an investment watch next. I want a Rolex with a mother of pearl face and diamond bezel preferably. I’m not sure about what color metal I’d choose!

I am not a watch girl. I always wanted to be one, and would buy numerous watches, and never wear them. Every time I look at one, my husband asks what I’m doing because I’m never going to wear it. lol. He is def a watch man. He would spend thousands on a watch if we had the money.

i am not a watch person and now i blame you for making me fall in looove with that first watch. i adore the color. it’s basically the only watch in this style that i could see myself wearing.

  14. liz on September 14, 2011 at 1:59 pm

You need a watch! I was a little weary of the trend of the oversized watch but I have to tell you…. I wear it everyday! I have one gold and one silver MK watch and they go with everything and instantly dress up more casual outfits – you NEED one 🙂

      ok, twist my arm 🙂

Hey Gina – I have a question about your heart rate monitor. Have you noticed any discoloration on your white watch band? I’m in the market for a new one and I’m wondering if that’s been an issue for you. Would you recommend that particular model? Thank you!

    • Fitnessista on September 14, 2011 at 3:52 pm

nope, it’s still super white! i’ll clean it off sometimes, but it cleans very easily.. and i sweat… a lot…

      • Shannon on September 14, 2011 at 4:24 pm

Haha! So do I! I have a white sportline watch and it turned yellowish greenish. Not good. 🙂 thank you!

I really love the men’s watch look but like you, I have small wrists too. I think what I might do is get a cheaper one while it’s trendy from Aldo or something.

Even if I were to wear a watch, I think I would still pull out my cell phone to check the time haha.. 🙂

Too bad your ring isn’t fitting anymore 🙁 That must be so frustrating!

  17. Lindsay on September 16, 2011 at 7:27 pm

I love watches and have invested in a few nice ones. I have small wrists as well, because I have small wrists I always wear watches with hole in them so that I can make them tighter. The ones with metal clasps are NEVER small enough! 🙁

Michael Kors watches are made by Fossil. Fossil watches are half the price and they have so many cute styles and sizes.

Hi! I’ve been following your blog for several months now and haven’t gotten a chance to respond till now. Your watch post caught my eye as I’ve jumped on the boyfriend watch trend (wore my dad’s old watch for several months) and then recently received my own Michael Kors boyfriend watch as a present.

I have this one below in silver:

Boyfriend watches are definitely cute and fun to wear!

    • Fitnessista on October 9, 2011 at 2:11 pm

      LOVE that!!

  20. Jessica on October 10, 2011 at 3:46 pm

I don’t know if you’ve seen the MK brown one in real life, but I’ve seen it, and to me it’s too much of one color. It’s almost hard to read the numbers too b/c of the brown background. I do love the big watch trend though, and if I didn’t have a nice watch that I wear everyday I would probably buy one. Although I suppose I could switch out watches- I’ve never thought of that before, but it could work!
