You can take the girl out of Valdizzy….

Heyyyyy 😀 How are ya? Hope you’re having a lovely day <3 Thank you SO mucho for those of you who took the time to vote this morning. I had fun voting for my favorite bloggies 🙂

Work today was fabulous. More on that in a second 😉

After this morning’s yoga class, I got lost on the freeway (you can take the girl out of Valdosta….), came back and took the fastest shower in the history of mankind and ate a speedy yet legendary bowl of b-fast cookie cereal.

cereal

-1/2 C ish of oats

-1 T homemade almond butter

-1/2 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior

-cinnamon, goji berries and cacao nibs

-1 C ish of almond milk

Perfect 🙂

So as ya’ll know, I’m not disclosing my Orlando place of employment for safety reasons. My job has never been a focus of the blog anyway, so I figured it didn’t really matter. I will say that it’s part of the fitness/health industry and is a company that I really, really believe in. So I’m very excited! 😀

For my first day, all I did was HR paperwork and learned about policies (I start training tomorrow)… and then went to do some shopping at the lululemon outlet 😉

Here are the goods for those of you’d like to see them:

lulu lulu (2) lulu (3)

The purple sports bra is called the ta-ta tamer, and I’m excited to see how it works out. I have yet to find a sports bra that is as awesome as the Shock Absorber sports bra from VS that I bought like 4 years ago and was discontinued. I’ll let ya know how this one compares after some HIIT intervals and plyo work 🙂

*Note- if you like lulu clothes, see if there’s an outlet near you- the prices are SO much more reasonable

Next, I stopped at Whole Foods for coconut and then came home for lonchi

burger (3)

A leftover black bean burger on kamut bread with hummus, greens and mustard:

burger (4)

+ miso slaw from Whole Foods (my all-time favorite hot bar item!)

slaw

Ahhhmazin’.

Well I’m off to make macaroons for the winner of Tina’s bake sale, then do the weights thang 🙂

Hope you have a great night <3

xoxo,

Gina

-Zumba video?? The Pilot is actually working on getting it uploaded to YouTube since my computer ate the files :/ (It says they can’t be retrieved)

Something to think: About stepping out of the comfort zone. Today’s yoga naptime pep talk (aka savasana) was about stepping out of our comfort zone to achieve amazing things. When we’re in our comfort zone, there’s no room for us to grow and blossom. As the teacher said “we can either take the easy road for a hard life later on, or take the hard road by putting everything we have into what we do, for an easy life later on.”

oooh, I want a lulu outlet… 🙂 actually, it’s probably better I do not have one near me. dangerous 🙂

glad your work is awesome and you’re happy about it !!

  2. Jessica @ How Sweet on September 20, 2010 at 4:41 pm

I want everything you bought at lulu. Sigh.

  3. Carrie on September 20, 2010 at 4:44 pm

That’s what my husband always tells me, about stepping out of your comfort zone. He’s probably the #1 person to push me there. When I start freaking out about something or am nervous, he calms me down and tells me to just do it. I think it’s his faith in me, it’s contagious.

    • Fitnessista on September 20, 2010 at 4:55 pm

that’s awesome 🙂 isn’t it amazing to have husbands who have confidence in us? mine is so level-headed about everything, it blows my mind

  4. Joslyn (missfitbliss) on September 20, 2010 at 4:45 pm

I have the ta ta tamer in black! I run and do other high impact stuff in it and I love it. I’ve never had that Victoria’s Secret one you mentioned, so I’m not sure how it compares. Really cute finds at the outlet!

  5. Michelle on September 20, 2010 at 4:45 pm

The Ta-ta tamer is amaze-balls. Totally changed the way I run. I seriously can’t say enough how great it is!! I also can’t be more jealous of you having a lulu outlet!! (although I’d probably shop myself broke there!)

    • Fitnessista on September 20, 2010 at 4:54 pm

i’m already very worried that it’s so close.. haha

  6. Lauren @ BIOCHEMISTA on September 20, 2010 at 4:45 pm

I would LOOOOVE if you did a Zumba video! That way I can try a class before going to a real one since I’m quite intimidated! You should consider doing a spinning video too someday!! 😉 😉

    • Fitnessista on September 20, 2010 at 4:54 pm

i have two on youtube if you wanna give it a whirl 🙂
i’d love to do a spin one.. maybe i could do a podcast or something like that?

      • Amy on September 21, 2010 at 11:01 am

It would be awesome if you did a spin podcast!! 😀

  7. Donna Porter on September 20, 2010 at 4:48 pm

I want a lulu outlet too!!! OMG I wish! I can’t afford the regular prices at their store, I just have to drool!

  8. Angela on September 20, 2010 at 4:50 pm

First I’m so jealous that you have a lululemon outlet. I just bought my first pair of pants and I’m addicted.

I’m so happy that you’ve found a job your excited about! That’s fantastic.

Just out of curiosity, will the Zumba video be full length?

    • Fitnessista on September 20, 2010 at 4:53 pm

no, it’s just going to be clips 🙁 when he filmed the zumbathon, he only did clips of a few songs. when i start teaching here, i will most definitely post full songs (there are two on youtube right now)

  9. Holly @ couchpotatoathlete on September 20, 2010 at 4:53 pm

It takes me a while to get used to living in a new city — you’ll know the roads/freeways in no time 🙂

I totally agree that we need to take chances/step out of our comfort zones, etc. I never would have met my husband if I hadn’t!

  10. Tracey @ Oliver Rain on September 20, 2010 at 5:00 pm

I’ve got 2 Tata tamers and they are AWESOME. I do TurboFire as well & they hold the girls in very nicely. I’m most envious of the Lululemon outlet…

Good luck on the new job!

  11. Lisa on September 20, 2010 at 5:05 pm

Those clothes are adorable! I love that blue top. Very jealous! =)

  12. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on September 20, 2010 at 5:07 pm

Oh, I’m so jealous of your Lulu outlet! Looks like you got some great stuff!!

I love that quote from your savasana session–> I’m writing it down right now! 😀

  13. LeanneRBF on September 20, 2010 at 5:08 pm

“Putting everything we have into what we do”

—this resonates with me. Especially if “what you do” is a small list of only your top priorities. (ex. hanging out with the significant other, career, hanging out with family & friends, taking chances so you can grow in life, etc.)

I really like your blog 🙂

  14. Chandrika on September 20, 2010 at 5:12 pm

Thank you for sharing what your yoga teacher said. It really means a lot to me at this point in my life.

  15. RhodeyGirl on September 20, 2010 at 5:15 pm

Way jealous of your new lulu outfits!

Love the tablecloth that screams fall. Your auntie had good taste!

  16. Christina on September 20, 2010 at 5:17 pm

What do you mean your “job has never been a focus of your blog?” You certainly told us before that you were a personal trainer/Zumba instructor, taught on base, and were trying to start your own business. Why now will you not say what it is?

    • Fitnessista on September 20, 2010 at 5:39 pm

because it’s a very specific place and since everyone knows that the pilot is gone, i don’t think it would be a smart move
even when i was training and teaching, i never said where (except for the base gig because base is totally different) i’ll still let everyone know when i start teaching fitness classes again though

  17. Lauren on September 20, 2010 at 5:21 pm

    i voted 🙂

thanks for always having little nuggets of inspiration for us! also your eats look yummy as always. when i have time to make a good meal i liken myself to the hungry hippo game because i always end up devouring it all!

  18. Jaclyn on September 20, 2010 at 5:49 pm

Take it from this top-heavy lady: The best sports bra EVER in any size is the Enell one. It’s hideous, but MAN does it work! Even I don’t bounce, and you’ve seen my twins!!

    • Fitnessista on September 20, 2010 at 7:32 pm

      hahah yes i have

  24. Kate on September 20, 2010 at 6:37 pm

I don’t own a single thing from Lulelemon, too expensive 🙁 We have a regular retail store in town, but not an outlet. I do need to buy more workout clothes though.. I’m sure that buying some new (and a little pricey) pieces will be a motivator for me to want to go to the gym so I get to wear them!

  25. caroline on September 20, 2010 at 6:39 pm

Im guessing you are working at Lulu…. or enjoying your beautiful clothes! So wonderful – love love love my store and all the folks who work there!

  26. kelli on September 20, 2010 at 6:50 pm

  28. Ilene on September 20, 2010 at 7:09 pm

-You should be the next Food Blog star. No question, non-negotiable.

-Sarah’s Key. The history behind the story is fascinating, but the narrative itself is poor. The author should have written a research based non-fiction work instead of trying her hand at a novel, in my snotty opinion. There was no real climax/resolution and the modern story was not satisfactorily intertwined with the past. Again, the historical context is incredibly interesting, horrifying, and saddening all at once, but as a novel, the book flops. I do not understand all the buzz. Sadly, I have to say that I think the hubub is in part explained by asking those who claim adoration for the book to describe what other books they enjoy or have read recently. It became such a popular book that it’s often read by people who don’t read frequently. Hey, who has time for leisure reading, so this is understandable, but I hardly think it’s a fair estimation of a book’s value when the only people whom I’ve personally found to laud it, have read hardly anything else.

    -Kamut bread, whaaaaaaa? Where? Yum!

-So happy you like your new job! Yay!

    • Fitnessista on September 20, 2010 at 7:31 pm

      thank you friend 🙂
what books would you recommend right now?
the kamut bread is from whole foods in the frozen section- it tastes like sourdough 🙂
      xoxo

      • Suzanne on September 20, 2010 at 9:55 pm

What kind of books do you like? I can email you all sorts of recs 🙂

Historical fiction is my fave (google anything by Margaret George, wowsahs), followed by early 20th cent. Am. lit (think W. Somerset Maugham, for ex.), and finally, though I profess to categorically despise fantasy, I LOVE Harry Potter.

But that doesn’t count, because Harry Potter is real.

Thanks very much for the kamut bread info. I’ve bought kamut berries from WF in bullk and puffed kamut before, loved them both, but never tried it in bread form.

In faaaaact, waiting for me in the freezer right now is canned pumpkin+vanilla+cinamon+nutmeg+ginger(vitis)+cloves+protein powder. Once the freezer elves work their magic and turn that concoction into p.pie ice cream, I shall top it with puffed kamut, and then foodgasm. Jesus will zumba on my tongue. I was thinking of trying to put such a creation into ice cubes for a “milkshake.”

        • Fitnessista on September 20, 2010 at 10:25 pm

jesus will zumba on your tongue??? bahahaha. that is the epitome of why i love your comments so much 🙂
and yes, harry potter is very real
as far as the books go, i like everything! if it’s beautifully-written, changes are that i’ll love it
          xoxo

You are so lucky to be living my a lulu outlet! We’ve got two lululemon stores by me, but my student budget won’t allow me to buy anything 🙁 Hopefully, I will have a good job in a year, so that I can splurge!

Lovin’ all your lulu finds! I just now went onto their website and saw the price tag for the pants and totally honestly, my jaw dropped. Over 100 bucks for some yoga pants?! Those better come with a lifetime waruntee! lol. …and make my butt look real, real good ;P

  35. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine on September 20, 2010 at 8:24 pm

Ahhh Googling Lulu outlets NOW…I didn’t even know they existed!! Glad your first day of work went well 🙂

  36. Jessica (Fit and Clean) on September 20, 2010 at 8:32 pm

They’ve been talking about Lulu clothes at my gym, and I hear they are just fantastic…they were even on The Today Show this morning talking about them! I wonder if you’ve bought any of the Athleta clothes from the Gap people?? I get the catalogs and they’re super cute but hesitate to buy them because they’re pricier then, well, Target. Haha!

  37. Chelsea on September 20, 2010 at 8:53 pm

I am so happy your first day went well. As far as I can tell from what you have told us, it seems right up your alley. We are all rooting for you.

I am going right this instant to vote!!

  38. Melissa on September 20, 2010 at 8:54 pm

Gina, I am a total lover of the Shock Absorber, too!!…I also got my first one from VS and thought all was lost when they stopped carrying them. But I discovered you can still order them online! The actual company is in the UK and I believe they do ship to the US…they also have a pretty informative/hilarious bounceometer animation if you want a good laugh while clutching your girls protectively. LOL! Anyway, I did not order straight from the company (just google shock absorber sports bra to get the company to pop up) but got my new ones from barenecessities.com (again, just google shock absorber sports bra and their link will pop up). The only thing that kind of sucks is that they don’t offer the cute colors that VS did. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on September 20, 2010 at 10:27 pm

awesome, thank you! so excited there’s another shock absorber fanatic out there 🙂

  42. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on September 20, 2010 at 10:13 pm

LOOOVE your Lulu clothes! I’ve bought a lot from there lately but sadly not from an outlet so my wallet is a little sad right now! I’m so glad your first day went well. The miso slaw wasn’t on the Whole Foods bar last time I was there but it looks good. Hopefully I’ll find some next time! 🙂

  43. Lindsey @ SoundEats on September 20, 2010 at 10:42 pm

Is it bad that one of the biggest reasons I’m excited to visit Orlando again is so I can shop at the outlets as a lulu employee? 😉

good luck with training! hope you’re having fun with the new job. 🙂

Congrats on the new job going well. Even after getting lost this morning. Talk about major stress Im sure on your part. Things never go as planned on 1st days of work, do they! And major props for NOT Talking about your job on the blog. LEsson learned in my book from other things, I am not talking about my job, where abouts, etc either. Too much risk, you’re being smart and SAFE!

Lulu outlet. Love the sounds of that! The yoga and hiking company Prana, Ive told you about them before I think, anyway they have a 1x/year sale here in San Diego at the warehouse and their entire catalog and online site goes into $5, $10 and $20 bins. It’s like the holy grail of fitness and yoga clothing finds!

Comfort zone? Girl, neither me nor you are “rut” kind of people. we are both aLWAYS!!! going wayyyy out of our zones, on everything from food to housing to new cities to what we share on our blogs to whatever…you are always challenging yourself and that’s great!

I’m glad you love your job so much! Sounds like the perfect fit.

Kudos for not saying where you work – safety first people! 🙂 I get all my Shock Absorber bras from wiggle.co.uk – they ship to the US and I think they have that bra, although even the £8 ones sold here http://www.sweatshop.co.uk/details.cfm?ProdID=4464 are excellent. Nothing beats happy boob-bays!
If anyone knows of a Lulu outlet near Vegas please share as I’ll be there next month!
