Ok, so it’s not really much different than any other day over here, but I’m still a fan 😉

Nana even got Livi a beautiful shirt from Mexico to wear on Cinco de Mayo.. she was so excited to open it!

Do you have any plans for Cinco de Mayo this year? We’ll be celebrating both Mother’s Day and Cinco tomorrow 🙂

As always, here’s a mother hen reminder to be safe and smart if you decide to party it up. If you’re drinking, get a ride and have a plan if place before you go out, mmm k?

Enjoy the weekend!

xoxo

Liv’s shirt is so adorable! She’s going to look so cute for cinco de mayo! These recipes look great too! Love me some guac!

I love Liv’s new outfit! She’s so precious.

I’m in college so Cinco de Mayo is always a big celebration! (Us college kids find every excuse to party 😉 )
It will be a day filled with good friends, margaritas, and big hats!

  3. Lisa on May 4, 2013 at 10:19 am

Oh yay! Cinco De Mayo may be one of the most fun celebrations. I have plans to hang out with some friends, but that’s about it so far. Guac is always a winner for anything. As are maragritas.

For the first time in years I have absolutely no Cinco plans! Hopefully something lowkey with my family or a few friends, nothing crazy like the college days 🙂 Have a great holiday!

  5. Nina @ Too Hottie For That Body on May 4, 2013 at 10:31 am

Any holiday that promotes the consumption of guacamole and margaritas is a holiday worth celebrating in my book 🙂

  6. Liz @ Tip Top Shape on May 4, 2013 at 10:35 am

I’ll be staying in for Cinco de Mayo ( I have a final the next day) but I may whip up one of these recipes! They look delicious!!

Love the cute top for Liv!
So many of these recipes look super good!
One of our neighbors always does a Cinco de Mayo party – nice because even if we have a couple of margaritas, no one has to drive!!

  8. Ashley @ Life and Fitness on May 4, 2013 at 10:45 am

I will be celebrating Cinco with lots of tacos && guac. YUM!

  9. Sharon on May 4, 2013 at 11:01 am

  10. Karissa on May 4, 2013 at 11:58 am

I kicked off the celebratory weekend with chips and guac and a couple of margaritas last night! LOVE the recipes, Cinco de Mayo just reminds me summer is a’comin’!! I’m pretty lucky, I lived in NM for awhile and the fiance was born and raised there, so even though we’ve been transplanted NM style recipes (and LOTS of green chile) has come with us!

  11. Lucie@SwissFitChick on May 4, 2013 at 12:03 pm

Oh that shirt for Livi is so cute!!
Cinco de Mayo is not celebrated here, but that’s not a reason for not whipping up your delicious guacamole, right?

It’s really funny because living in Mexico…Mexicans don’t even know what Cinco de Mayo is…and no one parties. 🙂 Out here in the mountains our little village of Nahuatl indians celebrate Dia del Nino on the 5th. Either way, anytime is a great time for a head-size margarita! Enjoy your celebration!

I love that little blouse!! I used to have one just like it when I was a little girl and I was obsessed with it. I think mine was actually from Hungary of all places. It had the same pattern which I loved with the puffed sleeves. I even slept in it. Also where did you get that pretty peach/pink summer skirt you are wearing in one of your recent Instagram photos with Liv? It is flowy to your knees and really summery? I love skirts like that. Thanks 🙂

  16. Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries on May 4, 2013 at 4:15 pm

As much as I LOVE all things Mexican food, we won’t be doing anything crazy this year. I may just have to make a homemade margarita in honor of it though… It’s been way too long since I’ve had one!

  17. Christy L. on May 4, 2013 at 4:40 pm

I made your summer sangria for a party we had a few weeks ago, and it was a total hit! Everyone loved it.

  18. Melodie on May 4, 2013 at 4:42 pm

  21. Cassie Vaughn on May 4, 2013 at 6:17 pm

I love that shirt for Liv! So cute.
Do you have any recipes or suggestions for Mexican recipes that turn out yummy and delicious without diary (I am allergic)?
I normally do fajitias which I’m just luke warm about until I’ve had a drink and then they taste very delicious.

    Thanks!

    • Lisag on May 4, 2013 at 6:43 pm

Have you tried Daiya cheese? Tastes a lot like real stuff.

Any reason to have a margarita! That’s for sure!

The Pioneer Woman’s salsa recipe is the only salsa we eat in this house. I get asked to make it for everyone’s get togethers. It is DA BOMB!!!!!
