10/5: Friday Faves + Fit Fest

-Getting Liv’s 8 month photos back. I love all of them so much, and can’t wait to add some to our photo wall.

my heart.

-Coffee + candy corn

Candy corn

As you guys know, I’m kind of a chocolate fanatic. Chocolate will always be number one in my sweets life, but I also occasionally enjoy the really sugary stuff, like candy corn – I look forward to it allllll year. One of my all-time favorite candies: the orange slices completely coated in sugar. Oh yes.

-Friend dates.

Lisa came over last night, and I made a very fancy dinner while we watched the highest quality television entertainment.

Pizza salad

(Salad and pizza from Renee’s Organic Oven. Entertainment: The Voice and Project Runway a la DVR)

-Halloween decor.

Halloween decor

Our house is already GTG, but I still love looking at the decor in stores. It’s just another official fall marker (especially when the Tucson weather is a little delayed). It’s been gorgeous in the mornings and evenings- Bella pretty much always gets a daily walk, but now the walks are longer and more enjoyable.

-New candle love. I always like to keep one burning in the kitchen, and my current fave is this fig candle from Target. Usually if fig is offered, that’s the scent I’ll choose (the Henri Bendel fig candles are fantastic)

Candle

-This tea. Mint + Egyptian Licorice= warming, minty, spicy, perfect.

-Schedule surprises. When I wrote my workout plan for the week, I managed to forget a significant piece: Fitness Fest! I’ll be attending fitness classes and lectures this weekend for continuing education credits. I love fitness conferences because I feel like they help me stay on my “A game,” and love to learn about new trends and techniques. This weekend I’m especially excited to learn more about various types of interval training strategies, attend a lecture on metabolism and learn new water techniques. Now that I feel more comfortable with pool classes, I can up my game a little 😉 I’ll definitely write re-cap posts with some of the most exciting things I do and learn while I’m there.

-Your awesome pics! I’m so happy to hear that many of you have tried the October workout and are following the calendar. Congratulations to Kelly from A Rumbly Tummy who has been rocking out the workouts and checking in like crazy. I’ll be sending her some goodies next week (healthy snacks, treats, and a Camelbak water bottle) as a little “keep up the amazing work” token 🙂 Keep checking in, friends- I love to hear your triumphs and feedback <3 @fitnessista #HereComesHallowLEAN

The winner will be announced on the giveaway post tonight at 10pm MST. Thank you to all of you who have entered so far- I love reading about your goals!

Have a very happy Friday <3

See ya from Fit Fest.

Something to talk about: Favorite Halloween candy! Also, would you be interested in doing another luon for a cause event?

Oh my goodness- that picture of Liv with the pearls is simply stunning!
Have fun at Fitness Fest! Can’t wait to read about it.

  2. Hillary on October 5, 2012 at 10:35 am

I gotta say, I love candy corn, too. It wasn’t until this year that I realized how many people HATE IT!

  3. Rachel on October 5, 2012 at 10:38 am

omg that dress on Liv is adorable!

  4. Jen G. on October 5, 2012 at 10:39 am

That tea is incredible! I’m not a big tea drinker, but could drink gallons of that.

  5. Karen on October 5, 2012 at 10:52 am

I am enjoying your blog! I’m not a real blog person but you’ve made it on my list of 3! I love moms who stay in shape. Your daughter is adorable! 🙂 Keep the workouts coming. Oh, and I am one of the only ones I know that LOVES candy corn. When I fill up my Halloween candy dish w/ M&M’s and candy corn, my kids and my hubby dig through the corn and usually that’s the only thing left by the end of the week. LOL More for me!

  6. Kristen on October 5, 2012 at 10:53 am

    I love his whole post:

-the pics…. Seriously…I think you guys were developed by scientists in a lab. Your family is just too gorgeous to be real!
    – candy corn! I LOVE the little pumpkin ones. I know they’re the same as candy corn but I only want the little pumpkins 🙂
    -candles=my obsession

Have fun at Fitness Fest! I can’t wait to read your review!

      *this

      • Amy on October 5, 2012 at 11:34 am

I think the mini pumpkins are better than regular candy corn too! it’s silly, because they are all just sugar and food coloring, but I love the pumpkins the most!

        • Karen on October 5, 2012 at 2:51 pm

See I’m crazy about candy corn but I don’t care for the pumpkins. I think it is because they are too big and give me way too much sugar in one bite! LOL

  7. Stellina @ My Yogurt Addiction on October 5, 2012 at 11:09 am

Your daughter is a gorgeous little girl!!!

My favorite halloween candy is also anything chocolate! I love the mini milky ways, twix, kit kats or hersheys mmm!

  8. Michelle @ Eat Move Balance on October 5, 2012 at 11:11 am

I’m with you…candy corn all the way! 🙂

  9. Amanda @ .running with spoons. on October 5, 2012 at 11:14 am

As much as I love chocolate, I’d have to say that I’m more of a sugary/fruity/gummy kind of person when it comes to candy. Skittles and gummy bears were always my favorite kind of Halloween candy, but I really loved the mini KitKats and Coffee Crisps as well!

  10. natalie @ will jog for food on October 5, 2012 at 11:28 am

My fave halloween candy… that is hard! But I know the kind I absolutely hated to get, Tootsie Rolls! Luckily my mom ate them all 🙂

  11. Amy on October 5, 2012 at 11:36 am

Halloween candy- definitely Reeses PB pumpkins! I hope they make dark chocolate ones this year……drool. And as I mentioned above, the mini pumpkin candy corns are another fave!

Also, I wait all year for Easter because I love Starburst jelly beans…… regular jelly beans aren’t even worth my time!

  12. Kelsey M on October 5, 2012 at 11:47 am

What brand of candy corn is your favorite?

  13. Leah O on October 5, 2012 at 12:15 pm

My booty is definitely burning after this mornings workout!! I was still sore from Tuesday so my legs were shaking like leaves. I LOVE candy corn too. My husband hates them ( I think because of an unfortunate overdose from childhood) so every year I save one candy corn and leave it somewhere for him to find or tell him that I have a special surprise only to show him the candy corn. Haha, sounds lame when I type it out but its so hilarious

  14. Kelsea on October 5, 2012 at 12:16 pm

That tea is my all time fave! so good!

  15. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on October 5, 2012 at 12:20 pm

Candy corn is amazing, Livi is ADORABLE, and I would def be interested in doing another luon for a cause event!

  16. Liz @ Southern Charm on October 5, 2012 at 12:23 pm

Candy corn and vanilla tootsie rolls!

AND YES!!!! I’m in for a luon for a cause event!

  17. Sarabell on October 5, 2012 at 12:23 pm

I love candy corn and the little pumpkins that are basically funny-shaped candy corn in flavor. =]

  18. Angie on October 5, 2012 at 12:41 pm

I love candy corn! But I can’t eat it anymore since I found out it has gelatin.

  19. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on October 5, 2012 at 1:03 pm

Those pictures are amazing! Such a little cutie. 🙂

I’m obsessed with Egyptian licorice tea, but I’ve never tried the mint kind. I’ll have to pick it up next time I’m at the store!

  20. Jerri on October 5, 2012 at 1:14 pm

First~ Liv is gorgeous in those pics!!! That last pic is beautiful.

I love orange slices, too. Have you ever tried the orange blossom honey stinger chews? My boys use them before football practice and games. I tried one and now have to keep myself away from them because they taste so much like the orange slices without the sugar coating.

    • Jerri on October 7, 2012 at 12:26 pm

      Oh, and I almost forgot…

Trader Joe’s makes an orange slice that is dipped in dark chocolate. I have only bought them once because I went through the container way too fast!!!

  21. Life's a Bowl on October 5, 2012 at 1:35 pm

Your daughter is absolutely adorable! Love the pink dress! Anything with dark chocolate- straight up, dipped, swirled- I love!!! I’m also a sucker for fruity sweets but I’ve never gotten into candy corn :/ I vaguely remember getting sick one Halloween when I was little from eating too much Halloween candy and I relate it to candy corn…

  22. Laura J. on October 5, 2012 at 1:41 pm

Love the family pic! And Olivia is just too cute for words– her ruffly pink dress kills me!

  23. Emily on October 5, 2012 at 1:49 pm

OMG that last picture of her, and that outfit, I die! She’s so adorable!!

  24. Averie @ Averie Cooks on October 5, 2012 at 2:10 pm

3rd pic down, of her crawling, pretty much the cutest thing ever!!

love the dark wood and POP of pink, too!

  25. Danica @ It's Progression on October 5, 2012 at 2:39 pm

love the pictures–that one of her in the dress with the beads is just gorgeous!

  26. Joanna on October 5, 2012 at 2:50 pm

Your family picture with the hands is a beautiful picture. I have never seen a picture like that before. Your little is so cute dressed all pink with the pearls. I love candy corn too. I am glad Halloween comes only once a year or else I would be in trouble. 🙂 Have a nice weekend.

  27. Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries on October 5, 2012 at 2:56 pm

I’m all about the Reese’s when it comes to Halloween candy… particularly the pumpkin ones because they have even more PB! 🙂 I DO love candy corn though! That’s my runner up!

  28. Alexandra on October 5, 2012 at 3:08 pm

I was just reading up on your Luon For A Cause post from last year and it sounds like such a fantastic idea!! I would definitely be interested in participating if you were to do another one…especially if there was another Roon Giveaway involved 😉
Oh, and NOTHING compares to chocolate in my book…lately Ive ben loving chocolate bars with seasalt!

  29. Cher @ Weddicted on October 5, 2012 at 3:18 pm

That picture of her crawling with the beads is too sweet. Love it.

My favourite halloween candy are mini snickers, but they can be a problem because you don’t really realise how much you’ve eaten!

  30. Jen on October 5, 2012 at 3:33 pm

You reminded me I have to call about my baby’s 3 month pictures! I can’t believe it has almost been 3 months. I go back to work Monday and have been sobbing non-stop all day (all week, really) then I opened your page and saw the BEAUTIFUL family photo and started sobbing again, happy tears I swear. lol You have a beautiful family!

I’m not a huge candy person, I’m a diehard chocoholic but I look forward to everything pumpkin spiced when fall rolls around – lattes, baked goodies (which I’m rarely a fan of), and new-to-me pumpkin protein shakes, yum.

I’m a big lulu fan, and own a fair amount of luon 😉 and if I can stay at work long enough to make money once again (really the anxiety about return is that bad) – I’d love to participate! Plus telling the hubs it is FOR a cause… lol

  31. sophie on October 5, 2012 at 3:42 pm

I think you might appreciate this…(although, granted, it’s nowhere close to being any type of healthy!)

  33. kim@hungryhealthygirl on October 5, 2012 at 4:48 pm

Gorgeous pictures!! Favorite halloween candy is hands down Reese’s pb cups….they always win! I like candy corn mixed with peanuts and m&ms.

  34. Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy on October 5, 2012 at 4:50 pm

I love those orange slices too! The ones from Fannie May are so good :).

  35. Sam @ Better With Sprinkles on October 5, 2012 at 6:54 pm

I love that pink dress of Liv! That is too precious.

Favourite candy: Halloween I always go for Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, but if we’re talking real, super sugary candy, I’d have to say candy corn (although I always end up eating too much and giving myself a stomachache or Fuzzy Peaches!

  36. lisa on October 6, 2012 at 12:35 pm

I would love to participate in lion for a cause. I don’t own much now so wouldn’t be able to donate but I would bid for sure!

  37. Ashlee on October 6, 2012 at 1:16 pm
