11/28: What I Ate Wednesday

I’ve done a couple of these before, and keep getting more requests for them, so I thought it would be a good day to do another since it was a fairly “normal” work day, even though I taught two more intense classes instead of one. It was also a normal life day, which can affect eating too (like being extremely busy and having to plan ahead, going out to eat, or being low on groceries).

Shoes 2

(one of my fave photos from the day)

These posts are kinda challenging for me since I’m a snacking machine, but here’s another What I Ate Wednesday 🙂

Breakfast:

2 eggs, 1 egg white (Liv eats the yolk of the third), brown rice tortilla, salsa

Bfast 8

+ coffee (unpictured because I drank it while driving and walking into work)

Snack: Popchips at work (the pepper flavor! SO good)

Lunch: Turkey lentil loaf and spinach salad with leftover dressing for madre and myself

Loaf

+ 2 dark chocolate peppermint bites

Candies

Snack: GF waffle with almond butter and jelly

Waffle

2 apples while driving to the bank (shared some with Liv)

Photo 37

+ another coffee (the crucial “afternoon jolt”)

While cooking dinner:

Some sushi bites (I think I had 4?)

Sushi 3

and some pecan pie innards:

Pie 2

I usually wouldn’t have thought to eat pie while cooking, but it was the Pilot’s idea and I didn’t want him to be lonely 😉

Dinner:

Tina’s pizza recipe with 1.5 crust serving, 1.2 organic chicken sausages, marinara, goat cheese and micro parsely

Pizza 9

Good thing I took a pic in the pan, because I destroyed the crust trying to chisel it outta there.

Pizza 10

Activity:

-Teach 45-minute Zumba class

-Teach 45-minute Ballast ball class (not quite as crazy as Zumba, but still a workout)

-20-minute walk with Bell, which I don’t count as exercise- it’s a daily ritual dedicated to Bell’s sanity

Photo 36

So there ya go: an entire day of eats! We’re about to decorate the tree, so I think a little candy cane green tea is in the near future.

What’d you eat today? Feel free to link it up if you have a food blog 🙂

See ya in the am with that Zumba video.

xoxo

Gina

Yum yummy! Today was a really relaxed day for me, I did a bunch of home work and got caught up on the paper during my cup of coffee. For lunch I grabbed a bowl of chai spice oatmeal, mid afternoon snack i had vegan primal jerky, and then taught two zumba classes. After classes I refuled with a green smoothie. 🙂 All around it was a great day!

  10. Kimberly on November 28, 2012 at 10:25 pm

    The fave photo is precious!

  11. Amanda @ .running with spoons. on November 28, 2012 at 11:05 pm

Gush. That picture of your feet with Liv’s is the cutest thing, and eating pie while cooking dinner sounds like a perfectly reasonable thing to do 😀 I’m always, always picking away at things while I’m in the kitchen. I guess patience just isn’t my virtue. And I did my own WIAW here http://www.runningwithspoons.com/2012/11/28/wiaw-what-portion-control/

  12. Marlene on November 28, 2012 at 11:19 pm

What a cute pic! I don’t consider walking my dog a workout either 🙂

  13. Katie @ Balanced RD on November 28, 2012 at 11:20 pm

Candy cane green tea sounds so good! The foot picture is adorable too 🙂

  14. Caitlin on November 28, 2012 at 11:42 pm

I love that candy cane tea! Will have to get my hands on those peppermint things. I love TJ’s treats around this time of year! Let’s see…today I had…

Breakfast: Overnight oats with yogurt, oats, peanut butter, granola and raspberries

Lunch: Egg scramble with some quiche, butternut squash, quinoa, spinach, and kale chips

Dinner: Lentils, corn kernels, zucchini, asparagus, and tomatoes cooked in a hot skillet with marinara, hummus and goat cheese! Super yummy.

I am also a huge snack monster so I had a few other things but those were the basics…I love these kinds of posts 🙂

  15. Bek @ Crave on November 28, 2012 at 11:51 pm

That’s what partners are for 😉 Oh and candy cane tea?! WAAAT

  16. Kelli Preston on November 29, 2012 at 12:34 am

love this post from you! Why am I so intrigued with what others consume in a day?! I’m a weirdo. Anyway, love da pic of the the feet. So dang cute!

  17. Krystina on November 29, 2012 at 12:38 am

Dark chocolate peppermint bites? I really, really miss TJ’s. 🙁

    Hm…today I ate:

Bfast: Greek yogurt, banana, raisins, pecans and cinnamon. Coffee w/ half & half.

Lunch: Kitchari (have you tried it? If not, you must. It’s an ayurvedic dish made with basmati rice, split lentils/mung beans and spices) with carrots/celery/hummus on the side.

    Snack: 2 hard boiled eggs.

Dinner: Homemade creamy tomato soup, grilled (pepperjack) cheese sandwich.

Snack: I made your pb&j “ballz” with leftover cranberry sauce in place of jelly. I also had a mug of hot cocoa.

The moccasins pic is so cute!! Yeah, i just started blogging and really enjoy the WIAW series that a lot of other bloggers do too, so I jumped on it and posted my first “What WE (my husband and I) ate Wednesday.”

  19. Candice on November 29, 2012 at 5:54 am

As you can see, a lot of us love these posts! You should do one each week! 🙂 I saved the almond meal pizza crust recipe and I can’t wait to try it!

  20. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on November 29, 2012 at 8:21 am

Haha I’m glad I’m not the only one who snacks while making dinner! 😉 Your version of Tina’s pizza looks awesome!

For yesterday’s WIAW I posted about a bunch of new recipes I’ve tried recently. I’m too lazy to remember to take pictures of everything I eat in a day! http://onehealthymunchkin.blogspot.ca/2012/11/wiaw-64-win-win-fail.html

  21. Danielle@cleanfoodcreativefitness on November 29, 2012 at 8:25 am

Love these posts. Especially all the snacks in here. I can totally relate. It must be teaching the group fitness classes that revs up the appetite. That first picture of you and Liv is priceless. Love the little baby feet 🙂

  22. Sylvia on November 29, 2012 at 9:39 am

I love these what I ate posts, thank you 🙂

  23. Katie on November 29, 2012 at 10:07 am

Ok first of all, I love that first picture. Insanely adorable. Her shoes are so cute!

My snack yesterday included a healthy EASY onion dip! I ate it with veggies

I used to not count my dogs’ walks as exercise, but I have started. Exercise is exercise! I have two huge dogs and live in a hilly neighborhood, so I figure a 30 minute walk gets me a 100 calories burned. Also, I like that you do the WIW only occasionally; it gets a little monotonous on other blogs.

  25. Kristen on November 29, 2012 at 10:24 am

Well, my eats have been all over the place lately. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say I was pregnant again….EEEK!! Nothing sounds good except Mexican food. So my eats have been very sad. Although for dinner yesterday I did fix myself an amazing southwestern omlett (chopped bell pepper and onion in olive oil, diced chicken, 2 eggs, salt, pepper, cayenne, cumin, cheese, then topped it all with salsa, hot sauce, and a dab of sour cream). SO GOOD!! Oh, and I also ate a boatload of gingerbread pita chips.
I’m really hoping my appetite gets back to normal soon!

Is that pizza crust chewy? It’s not sounding very appealing to me right now but I’d like to try it in the future.

where did you get Liv’s moccasins?! too cute. I’ve been looking for a pair for our lil’ lady (just a couple weeks younger than Liv!).

i got them at a baby consignment store, but they’re minnetonka brand

Can you do a body post, i.e the changes between pre-pregnancy, when you have birth, and now? x

  32. Bonnie on November 29, 2012 at 7:58 pm

That salsa looks delicious! Do you have a recipe for it?

  33. Morgan on November 29, 2012 at 9:11 pm

Thanks for sharing a “real life” diet. Many bloggers just put their meals and leave out the stuff they snack on while cooking or running errands. I love our blog and your honesty. Thanks for making me feel “normal”- whatever that may be.

  34. Brittany on November 29, 2012 at 10:31 pm

    Today I ate:
Nothing for breakfast (I know this is horrible but I have a medical condition and it makes me really nauseas in the mornings and eating then can make it worse. I almost pass out at work at least once a week!) but I did have 3 crackers at work.

For lunch I had my FAVORITE ruben sandwich from a local store. YUMMY!!!

during one class today I snacked on crackers and cheese.

When I got home from school I had my left over thai food from last night. and I’m not gonna lie, I had a few pieces of candy while I did my homework (was slammed with work today and needed sugar!)

For dinner I had some pasta with a homemade sause by my madre.

I just had some more crackers and a few more picese of candy. Crackers because I was starving, even though with my medical condition I can’t really eat after 8:30pm! and the candy was just for funsies.
