12/22: Meals and fitness for the week

1) Dance around the Christmas tree.

2) Eat all the cookies.

The end 😉

Tree 1 of 1 4

Christmas festivities, you’ve done us right this year. The actual holiday isn’t even here yet and I feel like it’s been an amazing run, especially considering the fact that we lost an entire week due to a late Thanksgiving. It’s also hard to believe that our little baby will be TWO in a few weeks!! Sniff.

Since I probably won’t be making a ton of *real* dinners this week (but enjoying tamales and feasts with the fam), I thought I’d share what we’ll be having for Christmas brunch at our house.

Rolls 1 of 1

Fruit plate

Overnight cinnamon rolls

Mushroom and spinach crustless quiche

Breakfast sweet potatos

Sweet and spicy bacon (a recipe from my friend Jeni– the Pilot goes ccrrraazzzyyy for it)

+ lots of mimosas, hot cocoa in the slow cooker and egg nog.

I’m really excited to have the fam over this year, especially since we’ll be Tucson visitors next holiday season 🙂

Also on the plan this week: my favorite veggie soup with crusty bread and salad for dinner tonight,

Baby meal 1 of 1

(the only photos I had of the soup were from baby meals. It’s an amazing recipe to take over to a friend’s house)

and BBQ chicken sandwiches and sweet potato fries tomorrow.

For the fitness plan, it will probably be low key, but here’s what I’m thinking:

Sunday: Filming more YouTube workouts with Sasha + (hopefully) Winter Shape Up Week 1 <—definitely counting these as my workout

Monday: Dance cardio

Tuesday: Early yoga

Wednesday: OFF

Thursday: Strength and HIIT

Friday: Short spin

Saturday: Yoga

Yogalobby

This post is going to be a short one since I’m off to meet Sash, but please let me know if you have any requests for our channel! We’re both moving in the next couple of months, so we want to have a surplus of awesome videos ready to go, and we have some fun plans for when we’re apart too.

Hope you have a happy Sunday!

What are your fitness plans this week? What’s on the menu??

xoxo

Gina

Love your blog I relate a lot to it! Your meals are practical especially to make with a toddler (I have an 18month old) and your exercises are helpful too! My husband is in the army so your blog makes me laugh at times with the military spouse life situations. Thanks for the extra time you up in to give us meal and exercise ideas!

Have a merry Christmas! Your brunch sounds wonderful.

Pilates and running for me! We’re not celebrating Christmas yet so no plans. But I did make a nice organic chicken and couscous tonight that should last a couple days. All it needs is some veggies.

Ooh, this week is going to be so tricky with workouts. I would normally workout tomorrow morning, but I’m going to hit the stores bright and early to finish my Christmas shopping. Not to mention I still have to wrap presents! Aaah, being a procrastinator is awesome, lol. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on December 23, 2013 at 9:47 am

is there a slow cooker hot chocolate recipe you use? Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on December 23, 2013 at 11:50 am

i just used the organic instant packs from trader joe’s, and used a little less than 6 oz of almond milk per pack. set the slow cooker on low, added a little cinnamon, and it was AMAZING- rich and creamy!

  16. Lauren @ Focused To Be Fit on December 23, 2013 at 12:17 pm

I’m hoping to get at least 5 workouts in – a little TurboFire and also my Bootcamp/Crossfit classes. That bacon sounds amazing! Christmas morning, we’re having an egg casserole, perhaps sweet potato tots, some fruit and bloody marys!

    • Fitnessista on December 24, 2013 at 12:09 pm

Merry Christmas Gina! I hope you have fun dancing around eating all the cookies, and tamales to your heart’s desire! I know I will be doing the same 🙂 My fitness will entail being pregnant, and trying to stay awake until 8:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve and Christmas. Fingers crossed! Haha! <3

    • Fitnessista on December 24, 2013 at 12:06 pm

  20. Michele on December 24, 2013 at 4:02 pm

I did Zumba toning this morning. I had no idea the entire class would be with hand weights. My arms were on fire! I will have to check out your arm burner…but not today! 😉 What are those things that look like brownies but with lighter icing and chocolate chips on top? Merry Christmas to you and your family! 🙂
