2 things I learned today

1. All of my dresses that zip up the back no longer will zip over the belly and girls. I will probably have to start buying more forgiving dresses. The only exception is a white J Crew dress, since it’s cotton and has a little give.

dress

Which brings me to #2..

2. If you are holding a small baby, there is a very high chance that it will tinkle on said J Crew dress. I feel like part of the “club” now, because I realized that it will be the first of many times 😉

This morning, I had breakfast with some girls from the squadron, 99.97% of whom have new little babies. It was so much fun to play with them and alternate holding them, while also getting some advice about baby/pregger things. The good news is that all of them have delivered at the same hospital we’re going to, and had nothing but amazing things to say about it. They said it was very clean and the staff was incredible. It’s always nice to hear comforting things instead of horror stories 😉 They also recommended the BOB Revolution stroller for a jogging/adventure stroller, so I’m going to look into that this week.

This weekend, I also learned how much help is appreciated and how I’ll be so thankful to have the family here with me when the little girl is born. As soon as our housewarming party was over, my nana, my mom and myself blitzed through the kitchen, packing up to-gos, cleaning dishes and everything was done within a matter of minutes. For Tom and I to do it would have taken much longer, even in a non-preggers state. I know I’m very blessed to have them <3

A good friend of mine came to our party last night, who is due a week before me. Not only was it amazing to catch up, take pictures with our bellies touching and share stories, I also got to feel her baby kick. It was the craziest, coolest thing ever.

This ended up being a more random post than I intended, but the family page is pretty random in itself 😉

I’m so excited to you and Tom! Having family help is amazing, whether you are having a baby or just moving (like me). It makes things so much easier!

What a gorgeous dress! My uncle’s wife is also pregnant and going through the same thing! The other day she bought a beautiful bra from Agent Provocateur and two days later it not longer fits!

Yes, anytime I plan on being around babies, I bring an extra change of clothes with me. =P

  6. Kathryn @ Flopoodle on August 29, 2011 at 5:41 pm

Love the dress…shoes…belt…everything! You’re lucky to have such awesome women in your family, it makes all the difference in the world. Your little one is lucky, too 😉

  7. Amy on August 29, 2011 at 5:49 pm

I bought dresses from Old Navy to wear while pregnant, nursing, pregnant/nursing and now nursing 2 (29 months & 5 months). I love that I’ve been able to wear them for so long now, 3 yrs, and that they’re inexpensive.

  8. Gina on August 29, 2011 at 5:54 pm

I have a BOB Revolution stroller for my little one, and highly recommend it. I can’t say enough good things about it.

  9. Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance on August 29, 2011 at 6:02 pm

That’s going to be such a blessing that you have your family nearby to help you with all thing baby 🙂

  10. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on August 29, 2011 at 6:13 pm

Zip up dresses…yes, I bought one to be the maid of honor in for my sister’s wedding when I was about 14 weeks to be worn at 26 weeks, give or take. I had no idea the…girls….would expand THAT much in just 10 weeks or so…it was…a barely made it in dress and a week afterward, would never have. Good thing she got married when she did 🙂

And the Bob Revolution, yes, much better choice IMO than the one you had featured the other day. I have the Bob Ironman which is even sturdier and bigger than the Revolution, no front swivel wheel but technically the experts say that if you’re doing a lot of running, not just walking, it’s better NOT to have a front swivel wheel for safety reasons. I learned that in my millions of hours spent researching strollers!

  11. Liz on August 29, 2011 at 6:18 pm

I nanny lots of babies and many of the families I work for have BOB strollers. Let me tell ya they are the best! They can be a bit pricey but many families sell them on craigslist and other sites after they’re done using them so you can get them for cheaper. If not, they’re definitely a worthy investment-best strollers ever!

    2 things I learned today….
    1. I’m pregnant (!!!!!!!!!!)

  15. Sejal M on August 29, 2011 at 7:45 pm

I have a BOB and LOVE it! My son is almost 2 and I an due with #2 very very soon.
    The BOB is awesome!

    • Sejal M on August 29, 2011 at 7:46 pm

and about the front swivel: you can either choose to have it swivel or lock it so it doesn’t. I think the Revolution is the best one because it can fit in the trunk of your car 🙂

  16. Ginger on August 29, 2011 at 7:48 pm

we have the bob revolution and it is amazing. definitely the best option for a “travel system” stroller (w/carseat attachment) early and legit jogging stroller later on.

  17. Sabrina on August 29, 2011 at 7:48 pm

1- That is so exciting!!!!! I can’t wait for your next belly pic.

    and

2- I feel the same way. Even though *my* family isn’t here, PB has a great family and lots of great friends (with kids). I’m so thankful to have them around.

  18. Lauren on August 29, 2011 at 7:50 pm

Adorable outfit! I found that maxi dresses were great when I was pregnant. I had my baby in novemeber so long summer dresses were perfect until it got cold. 🙂

Your family posts make me so happy 🙂 it’s awesome for us to go on this lovely journey with you, but HOW COOL is it that some day baby Fitnessista will be able to look back and read all about what it was like for her mama to be pregnant with her?? Too cool.

I actually look forward to your family posts more than the other ones now…I think it’s because I’m going through the same thing and it’s nice to see other bloggers staying healthy and seeing how their pregnancies are going. Especially since a lot of the things you’re doing I agree with and am doing the same thing. Same applies for Daily Garnish, I also love her pregnancy posts.

    I love your family posts!

We are getting the BOB Revolution as well – find a baby store and get your hands on one. It folds SUPER easy and is pretty much awesome!

Being a mil spouse you definitely know what’s it like NOT to have family around all the time so I am so happy for you that during this time in your life you will have them! We won’t have family ‘in town’ all the time but I know they will be making lots of visits as we move around with the military 🙂 Crossing my fingers that my mom makes it for the birth!

I thought this was an adorable post. 🙂 Family is so important.

So great to hear you are living somewhere that you’re supported and loved!

I wish nothing but the best for you and Tom!

  26. Ali @ urbanfruitbat on August 29, 2011 at 9:53 pm

This post totally warmed my heart! I am so glad to hear that you are surrounded by such love and support. And I know that your baby will grow up feeling the same love and support, and that is really all that matters in life.

  27. Cynthia on August 29, 2011 at 10:24 pm

    Love that outfit!

I also have the Bob Revolution without the front swivel and it’s awesome! I live in the desert with thorns EVERYWHERE so I was worried that having to constantly inflate/repair the tires might be a problem. The good thing is we took the Bob’s to a cycling store and had the tires replaced with thorn-resistant tubes. We’ve had our Bob for over a year and we’ve only had to inflate it a couple of times!

    Congrats again!

I am so happy that you are close to your family…the help when your little girl arrives is invaluable! You think you know now…it’s just amazing when that time comes!

  29. Kate on August 30, 2011 at 2:22 am

Having your family around when your little one is born will be invaluable! My Mum saved my sanity, helped me SO much and made my introduction to motherhood so much smoother. My little boy is still young (only 9 months) but he knows exactly who Nana & Poppa are and boy does he love them 🙂
Your family sound fabulous, they must be so looking forward to the new addition.

I love your random family page, don’t apologise! And this was a wonderful post…it must be so wonderful to have famliy so close, that is a real blessing <3 and how lovely to be able to share the experience, and glean words of wisdom, from friends and other new mums…again, a real blessing 🙂 so happy for you both! xyx

My sister is an avid reader of your blog and I’ve looked at a few recipes of yours that she’s shared from time to time. Out of curiousity I decided to explore the site a little today and I am IMPRESSED!! I’m a vegetarian, a bit of a health nut, recently married, and although we’re planning on waiting three years I’ve been bitten by the baby bug. I am such a huge advocate for body literacy and was super excited to see that not only are you planning on natural childbirth, with a midwife, but that you also use the fertility awareness method rather than artificial hormonal methods. Anyways, that’s my little schpeel, long story short you’ve caught my attention and I just wanted to say good job. The world needs more women like you.
