Bella is better at yoga than I am

Running and I broke up

and

I made some weird-looking brown rice burgers

So now, it’s time for

Last week I asked ya’ll to send me some smoothie and juice recipes since I tend to do the same thing over and overrrrr.

AMAZING, huh?! So many awesome recipes! Thanks for helping me out of my rut, friends 😀 I’ll be adding this post under the cookbook tab (under vegetarian and vegan) in case ya’ll ever need some smoothie inspiration.

And to those of you who love green smoothies and are looking for new recipes, be sure to check out Angela’s Green Monster Page.

Have a great day and I’ll be back later with the Insanity review page (so far) and other shenanigans.

xoxo,

Gina

***Guess what?! Today is NATIONAL GARLIC DAY! Fellow garlic lovahs, to celebrate this momentous occasion, the amazing Garlic Gold peeps are offering 20% off their *Garlic Gold sample pack* (which I’m pretty much obsessed with) in my OpenSky store. Coupon: GarlicGold

Something to talk about:What’s your #1 necessary smoothie ingredient? For me, it’s a tie between Sun Warrior protein powder and banana. If it doesn’t have one of the two, it’s not a smoothie to me 😉

Wow those are some awesome recipes.

My number one smoothie ingredient has to be bananas. I tried making one yesterday without one because I was out, and sadly, it was definitely missing something.

  3. Jessica @ How Sweet on April 19, 2010 at 9:44 am

So many great smoothie ideas here! Mine #1 ingredient is a FROZEN banana!

    • Shelly on April 19, 2010 at 10:30 am

Bananas are the best b/c then you don’t need to add sugar!

  4. Jenny on April 19, 2010 at 9:48 am

Wow! The chocolate mint looks to die for! My main ingredient would be bananas, i feel like every smoothie I’ve ever had has bananas in it!

  5. Ana (AnActive Adventure) on April 19, 2010 at 10:17 am

Yum!!! So many great recipe ideas for smoothies– definitely bookmarking this post!

All of my smoothies seem to somehow have at their base almond milk and a banana, so those are definitely TWO number one ingredients for me 🙂

  9. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on April 19, 2010 at 10:44 am

This is such a great resource. OK, next time I make a smoothie I’m coming here and picking one of these. I think I need to start with the Creamy Sweet Basil smoothie. I love the addition of basil. Genius, Lynna.

These are all great recipes- thanks!
At first I thought you were going to say that garlic was your necessary smoothie ingredient lol. Mine would be protein powder (Jay Robb to be specific 😉 )

    • Fitnessista on April 19, 2010 at 11:19 am

hahah i love garlic, but not quite like that 😉

  17. Mary on April 19, 2010 at 11:31 am

Great ingredient ideas! Coconut! Oats! Coffee! Mint!

I just made a pear, blueberry, spinach, coconut smoothie! Yum!

Banana is great for the texture. Avocado serves the same way.

  18. ari on April 19, 2010 at 11:31 am

omg that basil smoothie sounds SO DELICIOUS!

  19. Lily @ Lily's Health Pad on April 19, 2010 at 11:59 am

Where can I get Sun Warrior?

    • Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on April 19, 2010 at 12:56 pm

I always have to have a banana in my smoothie. It gives the perfect amount of sweetness

  22. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on April 19, 2010 at 12:21 pm

YAY I’m so excited to try all of these! My must-have ingredient is also a tie, and it’s between protein powder (currently LOVING Whey Gourmet Peanut Butter Chocolate!) and a frozen banana. Thanks so much for the shout-out!

  23. melissa @ a lambs tail on April 19, 2010 at 12:48 pm

#1 would HAVE to be kombucha!!
im really surprised that there wasnt any in these recipes. makes the best smoothies in the world. i think bananas and ginger would tie for second.

    • Fitnessista on April 19, 2010 at 1:45 pm

i have never heard of adding kombucha to a smoothie! i totally need to try it 🙂

  24. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on April 19, 2010 at 12:51 pm

Thanks for the new ideas! That chocolate-mint one looks right up my alley!

My must-have ingredients for smoothies is greens! I put greens (usually spinach) in every smoothie I make! Sun Warrior and frozen bananas are a close second, though! I usually start off with all three of those as my base, and go from there. 😉

  25. RhodeyGirl on April 19, 2010 at 1:00 pm

BANANAAAAAAAAA! I AM BANANAS FOR BANANAS.

Love all of these creations! Thanks for collecting and sharing Gina!

  26. TanyaS on April 19, 2010 at 1:45 pm

I’ve tried the Sunshine in a Glass juice, let me say as a pregnant woman I like to call it “Heartburn in a Glass”!

Tasty, but it will have to wait a few more weeks for me to enjoy it.

Love all these recipes. I had never thought of using coffee. Love it.

  27. s on April 19, 2010 at 1:47 pm

wow, so many good ideas! i loved this post.

  28. jen trinque on April 19, 2010 at 1:52 pm

My number one smoothie ingredient is definitely a banana!

Those were some great recipes, thanks for getting them all together in one place. I see some I want to try…

  29. brittney on April 19, 2010 at 2:02 pm

I dislike bananas like kindergartners dislike naps. Great to see some recipes that are banana-free! Thanks, y’all.

  30. Anna (munchingmamacita) on April 19, 2010 at 2:10 pm

Bananas!!! Especially the supah ripe ones. They really sweeten up the smoothie without adding extra sweeteners. That mint chocolate smoothie looks AMAZING

  31. breakingsilence @ Freshman -15 on April 19, 2010 at 2:50 pm

Ooh, that mint one looks really good!

As for my #1 necessary smoothie ingredient? A banana. Just doesn’t taste right without one!

  32. fittingbackin on April 19, 2010 at 3:03 pm

WOW – thanks for the awesome smoothie round-up. I’ve never made one. yes – it’s true! this post gave me inspiration – and my husband LOVES them so maybe i’ll start making them for him!!

  33. Jeannette on April 19, 2010 at 3:08 pm

  37. Ashley on April 19, 2010 at 4:46 pm

  39. Lynna on April 19, 2010 at 6:11 pm

thanks for posting my smoothie! like mostly everyone else, my favorite smoothie ingredient is frozen bananas BUT frozen avocado is a close second– not so much for flavor but it adds a great smoothness and creaminess to the texture!

  40. Steve on April 19, 2010 at 8:19 pm

My wife has short term memory issues, so my research identified Spinach, Blueberries and Branch Chain Amino Acids (found in some protein drinks) as being beneficial ingredients. So we fire up the blender and include these ingredients in our breakfast smoothie!

  41. jessica on April 19, 2010 at 9:46 pm

Hi Gina – have you ever tried Jay Robb brown rice protein powder? I bought some after hearing so many rave reviews but it’s very chalky when blended into a smoothie. Do you have this problem with Sun Warrior?

  42. Pure2raw twins on April 19, 2010 at 10:08 pm

YUM! All the smoothies look amazing.

  43. shireen on April 21, 2010 at 5:37 am
